My grandson had to call everyone he knows to tell them he met the famous Richard Gene today. I would like to thank you for being a humble human being and just being a great person in general.
“The problem with these fish is that their eyes are too close to their tail”. That is comedic genius and I am going to use that forever. Outside of being a great fisherman and teacher of angling, you are hilarious. Thank you for doing what you do.
Hey Richard , Ive been fishing all my life , im 56. you have to be one of the best fisher ive ever seen , most of those fishermen you see on TV , have 1000s of dollars worth of fancy technology and equipment.. Not you buddy, you keep it simple and thats what i love about your show.. you are SECOND TO NONE... WOOOOOO!!.
I’ve never fished with a jig. I watched this video Friday, went to sports academy and bought it. Saturday morning I caught three big bass in the first 30 minutes. I caught 2 4 pounders and a 5 pounder. Thanks for the video.
All my nephews and nieces love watching ole' Richard Gene the Fishin' Ma-sheen (Machine). Your channel and videos are definitely a favorite in our family and I have to say l, Thank you Sir. Your more entertainment/education for them than Cocomelon and other children's shows could ever give.
Great show Gene as usual. You don’t seem to worry about a thing that going on in our country today you can have fun regardless. So be blessed and have a great day young man.
Today I caught the biggest crappie of my life! 2+ lbs and like you, I thanked God and released him, didnt even take a picture. When God is with you fishing, that is a small one. I was using your method, using Bobby Garland jigs. I did notice all the big crappie were in the shade of the trees, no crappie in water with sunlight.
Richard we need a shirt that says " I'm talk'n Wooo....!!!" "WOOOOO!!" Love the show brother and we share a first name and it's a privilege!! You and Elmo take care and God bless you both and especially him cause he really needs it!! 😅🤣
IDK about all your viewers, but I love seeing all of them up close, even if their eyes are too close to their tales (nice phrase 😄 ) but thanks for sharing these in the video, very nice video I mean WOOO! Bless you.
I caught a flathead on the bank of the Ohio along the rip rap just the otherday. I was using a 1/2 jig with a 7" fluke, I sure am glad I went fishing because you know it's good fur ya!!!
Another great show Richard. Glad you and family are all doing better. Expect the good Lord had a few prayers sent up for y'all. God bless and good wishes from Texas.
Keep making videos. I love getting notified at the end of a long work day with your new content. You really inspire all of us to go fishing. Roll Tide my friend
Richard you should find a fishing partner. My dad wa about 52 when he had a hear attack on the lake alone. Luckily he survived and lived another 35 years.
I have a trolling motor very similar to what Richard has. A 55 lb. thrust Minnkota Traxxas. Tilt telescoping tiller handle. Variable speed which is ideal for trolling for crappie. I have mine mounted on the front right hand side of my 12 ft. Sun Fiesta pontoon boat. Plenty big enough for 2 people to fish out of and small enough to store in most garages.
Not much of a bass guy but i love watching you and i learn alot that i may use for other types of fish. Crappie, cats, white bass and whiper and if im lucky walleye
If you look at that big warmouth the tip of its tail was the exact color as that dye you got on your britches. Might have been what them kitties were up there feeding on. Pretty neat!
Richard, I was worried sick about you and your family of course when you had the CV 19. I'm so joyed that you recovered. The next thing you need to do is figure out how to get away from them smokes. Is a former smokeaholic myself, I'm so glad I was able to quit. I'd love to see the same for you. Stay well, love your vids. May the Lord bless and keep you and yours.
AMAZING array of colors, RG!...& wouldn't ya know, that jig & pig combination enjoys a new life with soft plastics & hatch-matching colors!...yet, for the life of me, i am yet to understand WHY casting with 1 hand then switch to the other to retrieve is such accepted practice when the handle screws on either side of the reel you prefer. HAHAHA!
I've learned to pinch the line very gently with index and thumb while fishing. You'll feel the peck on the line. 😊❤ it's especially helpful when night fishing. If you use a jig night fishing or any time of day try procure attractant. It'll draw fish in to bite. Put a generous amount on plastic and color hook tip red really good. Let red sharpie on hook tip dry and add procure trophy bass to hook as well as the crayfish on bitsy jigs. 😊❤
Great video, always watching your videos as they pop up......just got back from academy, could not find Betsy bug, and when I did a Amazon search , they look totally different, thanks and god bless.
Those flatheads were up in the rip rap looking for anything that moves basically, it’s that time of year when they start feeding up just before they move into their wintering holes, once that water drops below 50 degrees they’ll start staking up in those deep holes. But my opinion the fall of the year is the best time to catch your biggest Flathead, my opinion, well early spring ain’t too bad neither when they come out of those wintering holes.
Hey Richard, I live in Huntsville. Very close to the river and Ditto Landing. I fish alot but don't have a boat sadly. On a side note, do you edit your own videos? Its very good editing!
Thanks Gene the Man! Hey brother I caught big cats on Carolina rig circle hook and heavy on the worm. Thanks bro. I just bought me couple of these jigs. Wife bitchin....I feel like a kid again!Lol
My grandson had to call everyone he knows to tell them he met the famous Richard Gene today. I would like to thank you for being a humble human being and just being a great person in general.

We dont have flatheads like that up here in NY but there is a similar bite with aggressive channel catfish in the rip rap
Your videos make my day my dude. You should come North for some steelies sometime I think you'd like it.
