Hey…. Enjoy your channel …. I’m a disabled police officer and I’m either in bed or fishing with my daughter since she was 3. I taught her how to net sunnies with bread and a hand net. I remember when she learned how to do it. Then all the daddy’s and their sons tried doing it. My daughter and I caught about 50. Meanwhile, some dads and their sons were starting to get frustrated because they couldn’t catch one. Lol now she is 13 and past summer we hit a school of 5+ catfish. We caught white and yellows … the look on her reeling in her “monsters” was priceless……. She only had 7 pound test and the excitement and fear when the drag would go off… priceless

if you keep tossing that around, one of these days youre going to tangle with a monster largemouth, all i can say is hang on B) haha. Its really fun watching you fish with artificials lately. i love when i get a random cat using conventional/bass tackle. Last cat i caught was a channel on a 2.8 keitech on 8lb braid to a 6lb leader, it was just over 6lbs and took me about 15 mins to get in. Real fun fight. Thought i had my pb bass on for a couple mins until i felt the rolling.

That’s awesome, Justin! Catching catfish on artificial baits! Ain’t that fun seeing them on your livescope and then feeling the bite! 😬 I’ve caught my share of cats while fishing for bass over the years…..they will hit quite a few different artificial baits too….a spoon jig will work too. You have the right idea in upgrading your spinning outfit with a saltwater inshore version….St Croix makes a good assortment of them! 👍🏼

I've still got one old Bionic Blade rod I use for catfish. It's gotta be 23 years old. You and Elias are at the top of your game in your respective categories of fishing. Try not to miss any of your videos. I will be wearing my Kayak Catfish hoodie tomorrow that I bought 2+ years ago and it's still going strong. Thanks for all the content Justin. It's been tough waiting for Spring here in Wisconsin. Hoping to be able to get out and fish cats in mid-April. It's a blast watching you catch cats on jigs. I use 5" flukes sometimes tipped with small suckers (4-5") on salmon jigs (4x hooks) to catch flats in the Fall. It's so much fun on spinning tackle. They commonly run 8-20 lb here, but I've caught them up to 55 lb. I never weight them, just use a weight calculator. I'll keep a couple of small ones under 8 lb, but everything else goes back as they are kinda rare around here.

For your jigging rod look into Shimano TDR series medium/ heavy action. The rods are cheap but I've caught big sturgeon on em light action tip with a strong back bone.

It's great to master a fishing technique when you can be confident that, if the fish are willing, you can catch them. But it's more exciting to be in the process of learning a new technique. You never know what will work and won't work or what will work better. That's how you grow as a fisherman.

I love your videos! I've been using livescope since it came out and have caught literally thousands of crappie with it. But I do the same thing you are doing for stripers when they are running up the rivers. Man it is fun! But what i am noticing on your videos is that you say you can't see anything down in the shad but I see catfish in them all of the time. I really think the ones in the middle of the shad where the shad are clearing out of the way are the bigger fish you are looking for. Maybe try dropping your jig down into some of the voids in the shad and see if you can pull out a bigger fish from the middle of the shad. I don't know but maybe something you could try. Anyway I truly enjoy watching your videos Thank you for doing them!
