    I'm not pregnant. I'm not trying to convince. I've never been pregnant. I typically love your videos because I'm all about anything that helps us to know our bodies, and I do want kids someday, so I feel a lot of peace of mind by educating myself. But these toolbox videos especially are super translatable to general self care for women. This is a really crappy time here on Earth, and I like spending some time each day hearing you talk about all these ways we can take care of ourselves and empower our bodies and minds when facing challenges that can feel insurmountable at times.

      I had never thought to apply these things to our current situation, but you’re so right. This is such a challenging time for so many of us, and a good environment, a warm bath and a couple deep breaths can definitely do a lot of good! 💗💗

    Can you do a lead up to labour video. Covering things such as: how to do perineum massage, what oils to use and when to start doing it. What drinks / foods will help and when to start (like raspberry tea). I'm currently 27 weeks and loving your videos all the way in the UK.

    Thank you for this video! I was bullied against using water for my first labor and it was stressful and disappointing. I had back labor on top of two herniated discs from a car accident a few days before finding out I was pregnant. I am now expecting baby #2 and going in with the expectations I know my body and know how much water can help. It was amazing for water aerobics and therapy and I know it will be a great tool this time around. This info is much appreciated!

    I want to labor in tub but my hospital doesn't offer it, though I can set up my own birthing pool in the room. Still deciding if I'll just labor at home in my tub or bring it to the hospital. I'd rather a birthing center or a midwife for a home birth but my insurance won't cover it.

    • @Nurse_zabe
      @Nurse_zabe  4 года назад +1

      Hmmm, that’s a tough decision. I think it depends on cost and how big your tub is at home. The birthing tubs in the hospital or that you rent are often larger than the ones at home. But at the same time, laboring at home might be more comfortable and be more of your labor anyway. I would just love for insurance to not dictate where we can safely have our babies!

    Could you touch a little more about privacy in labor? You mentioned it can help, but just curious how it does this!

    • @Nurse_zabe
      @Nurse_zabe  4 года назад +1

      I actually talk all about this in my birth environment video and touch on it in my “10 weird things your labor nurse wants you to know” video. But basically when you feel calm, supported and peaceful during labor is helpful in the release of oxytocin to stimulate more labor. A lot of women find this in laboring in a more private environment!

    I wanted to labor at home as long as possible or even have a water birth but that couldn't happen. My water broke but contractions never started. 12hrs later (after my water broke) I went to the hospital and started pitocin. 11 hours after that I was 2cm and 85%. I decided to get in the bath. I was really looking forward to it but ended up disappointed. It did not work at all. I was more worried about them being able to hear the baby because his heart rate was starting to get low. I got out sooner than I wanted.

    • @Nurse_zabe
      @Nurse_zabe  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, I didn’t find water to be that great with my first labor (similar to you, my water broke and I was not in labor after 12+ hours so pitocin was started). That’s why we have lots of different things in our toolbox to deal with labor. And sometimes an epidural (which was the route I picked) is part of your toolbox. And that’s ok!

      @pandagirl4167 4 года назад

      @@Nurse_zabe First of all, thanks for your reply! Also, That is what I ended up with. I had mixed feelings about for a long time because I felt like I had failed myself. I've learned (from watching you and others) that I did NOT fail. I felt I needed the epidural because I was exhausted. By that point I had been on pit for 18 hours med free. I knew it was going to be time to push soon and I knew i didn't have the energy. After a success epi, I took a two hour nap and then it was time to push! Dr went to check me and there was babys head!
