Hello Bryony. I manage to include smell into my version of Eric Carle's The Tiny Seed. At the end when the beautiful big flower grows I use a large artificial (fabric) flower but I put some geranium aromatherapy oil on it before telling the story. Have to be careful not to make it too strong though so I just add the oil the evening before .

Kirsty E Smith oh that’s such a cool idea! And lots of our kids are v sensitive to smells, so I love how you’re making the most of that. Thanks for sharing!

We heat bread up prior to reading The Little Red Hen do the warm bread smell captures interest. Of course we eat the bread at the end.

That is such a fun idea. It's on my list to make more bread this year, so I might just have to try this. Thanks for the suggestion!

Fruits like bananas, strawberries , oranges can be added for smell ...and a bit of taste if you want ...?
