Where did you buy ur jo bolts from? Good video....yea I'm working on a beech too....Not easy to remove. You can install them without the too....should only need to apply ~30-40inchlbs and the stub should break. Beech man...they had to do shit really different didn't they....

Hi thanks for that where did you get your ratchet tool please ?

Hi guys, so to answer your questions... The ratchet came as part of the Jo bolt installation kit and I removed the old ones pretty much the same way you would remove a Cherry Max rivet.
My preferred tool for this function is a snap punch. It's basically a center punch with a spring that you pull on and then release. You can goggle it. They're inexpensive and they work extremely well.
Lastly, yes, depending upon application you can use them with washers but you need to allow for the extra thickness of the washer when determining the length of the Jo Bolt that you're going to use.
That said these are meant to be blind fasteners and getting a washer on the back side of it would be in practical in most situations and I'm not sure would benefit you by putting it under the head. But, once again it depends on the application so I could be wrong.

Is it possible to use a washer?

Sure, if you're using engineering data though, I would follow that explicitly. If not, just remember these are structural blind fasteners and you can treat them a lot like structural bolts. Make sure that you select a washer that fits neatly onto the Jo bolt and allow for the extra length that the washer is going to consume.

    How about the removal

I haven't had to remove any but I do know that you cut off the collar to remove them. There is probably a tool that goes on a rivet gun. A Dremel might be useful too.

Depending on diameter of the fastener to what size drill bit to use, or a ball style rotary file, drill the stem, or grind the stem and head down, punch the stem through, then use the original whole size diameter drill bit to take out the rest of the Joe bolt and punch that through too
