I would have thought the rule was no one else taps the house drug supplies. Perhaps if he hadn't surrounded himself with yes people, someone might have told him he was going to kill himself.
I'm a professional sound technician for over 20 years I have work with Prince a few times he is very professional and very good at what he does I'm very professional I'm very good at what I do we got a a long great we had no problems rest in peace Prince he was the best guitar player ever
Regardless of his quirks he was a musical genius very intelligent too. No he wasn't faultless but he was a great and talented musician self taught and talented he was always bullied that may have been why he was difficult to some people. Everyone knew he could bump a bass guitar a play the he'll out of a guitar 🎸 facts❤❤❤
Back in the day, my girlfriend served him dinner at a nightclub. His handlers explicitly told her that she wasn't allowed to look him in the eyes. Maybe he doesn't tell people directly, and maybe he directs people to tell them not to look in his eyes. We have shared this story with our friends for years. It was interesting to see a video on it.
On a movie set no eye contact is a must as it can ruin a take if talent's eyes move to meet a random observer's gaze. For celebs, I guess multiple people looking at them gets exhausting (just like a perfectly comfortable brand new sneaker for a casual user can wear off your skin if you run a marathon in it).
Prince was known to be hard on his musicians but a lot of it was him trolling until they grew the courage to defend themselves. Like making someone hit the same lick over and over despite it always being satisfactory each time. Hilarious stuff
Times change, I have a shed load of Prince CDs that never get played (inc bootlegs like most) but sadly the music is of its day and so the CDs sit there collecting dust. Robbie Williams said the same of Prince (eye contact) when they were on Top of the Pops. Prince wouldn't allow note pads in an interview, forcing any reporters to memorize the Q and A before and after. Another sign of the times I guess.🤔
J Lo has a no eye contact rule, and is said to not talk to commoner's, instead she tells her personal Assistant what is wanted, which is then relayed to the commoner, while all three are standing within a few feet of eachother,Very strange indeed but is said to be a rule she insists upon! Her X husband Ben hasn't talked to her for months at a time, but is said to know the assistant pretty well, as he can only talk to her for months at a time!🙄
This is a total line of bulshit. I worked with Prince on three tours and never once was I remanded to the stupid ass nine set of rules. And I was paid well working on o 12 shows of what was called privately the Black Pearl tour.. where do they come up with these stories??? Princes of real gentle guy. And he was quite generous with his monies.. the infamous no eye contact rule didn't exist. Damn. It's kind of like the rumor that persisted that Kurt Cobain never bathed that actually almost took hold for about a 6-year period of time. It's funny how old is bulshit rises to the top of the pool rises and comes up after their death. The night before. If any of this for two would be written down somewhere don't you think in their own handwriting. Never try to make an icon out of something that's already passed this doesn't work anymore it did back in the 60s and early 70s. Because there was no internet no cell phone to spread rumors publicly everything was by person to person the word of mouth and ear. That's why all that stuff that makes life worthwhile and happy what is so simply easy to find an inexpensive. And everyone knows exactly what that is if you are experienced
@@bigolebot a sorry but they're not even cute to read because people will believe this to be true. Some people are all about reality particularly those who worked in the music industry from 1972 to about 2016 play Ashley new worked in and professional relationships with some of the finest artists you'll ever hear or know in history.
Thank goodness my generation had Marvin Gaye (baby boomer here), I'd hate to have grown up during prince's era. Generation X missed out on real talents like Marvin and no, relying on your parents lps, radio etc isn't the same experience
Hey, I'm a baby boomer too, and I've been a fan of Prince since 1978, and what I like best about him was his musical versatility by not sticking to one style of music unlike Marvin Gaye and some of the other artists you mentioned.
I believe it. Introverts feel like you'll be able to see their secrets and weaknesses. He definitely had other people say it because it sounds extreme,
That screams autism. He was VERY picky with who he "allowed" to cover his music and he wouldn't allow members on stage to be as tall as him. He was barely 5ft tall.
What do you think of this rule?
How do u feel making money out of stories and rumors about death people !🤮
I would have thought the rule was no one else taps the house drug supplies. Perhaps if he hadn't surrounded himself with yes people, someone might have told him he was going to kill himself.
Not nice
It’s amazing how someone so strict could still be so admired and loved by those who worked with him.

Preach was a very good friend of mine. I taught Preach to sing and play the guitar. Me n Preach often would throw it down ❤.

What's with celebs and the "no eye contact" rule?
Means you’re a peasant!!!
Right??? It's very strange.
I booted the BSides to Cassette over thirty years ago and that's all the music by PRINCE necessary.

Sorry Michael. But Prince was better.
But it's okay... I'm a day one fan of you both. 🎉💜

Marvin Gaye would have loved Prince

💜GOAT

Or he was just a selfabsorbed a$$hole.
R u ok ? At least read something about autism .What Autusm has to do with someone height ?
How the hell do you work with someone without glancing at them in the eyes? Seems very petty to me.
Most ridiculous thing I've heard.

Not a nice rule
Nasty spooky.
39 albums and not one good song 😂
Bite your tongue... you obviously do not know great music
@@RicardoHernandez-yl9ll he could do no wrong throughout the 80s. He made tons of great stuff from 80-89.
I remember the 80s well .... no lyrics of Prince come to mind ... I guess he didn't have any.
@@persimmontea6383 I guess someone was simply too young to have experienced it. It's okay, not everyone can be lucky
You failed.
