Absolutely. Rick is on record saying something about not liking around the world in a day like he went to “white“ not necessarily accurate, but he did allude to that. Pursued that wider audience and he was castigated by members of his own black American community, but he was all supported, regardless of what anyone other fans may tell you. But some of the people on this list seem like they could be rude in person too. I have heard stories about Boy George too. He could be rude to his fans. I beg to differ on Trent Reznor. If you really look into it that man is extremely talented. His "Band" was mostly him on the studio, and just needed to hire a band for live stuff, which I've seen in person, and it was amazing. He is classically trained on piano, and when Johnny Cash coverers one of your songs, you know you are doing something correct! Even Prince realized Reznor had talent, asking him to remix for him. I believe Trent Reznor is a musical genius as well. That being said, Prince is a musical genius, yes. And I am a HUGE HUGE Prince fan. I am actually kind of sad that that meeting between them went sour. They are both musical Gods as far as I am concerned, and I am super disappointed they didn't get along. (And noted that we are only getting one side of the story, unfortunately)
I was a huge Prince fan as a youngin. I had most of his albums and attended four or five of his concerts. He was the consummate performer, but I heard he could be a jerk at times. In fact, me and my little brother were dropped off ( by my mom) at Cobo Hall for the Rick James, Prince concert. After the show, (which both artists turned out) we snuck backstage to find Prince and his band had wrecked their Green room area ( turned over tables, food thrown everywhere) and left the building. Over on Rick’s side, it was a chilled atmosphere. There was music, food and “too cool for school” VIP’s. I found the contrast interesting, cause even though Rick had a reputation for being wild, Prince ( younger and less seasoned) was much more rowdy.
And that’s it you found a thrashed typical rock ‘n’ roll environment after a party maybe even a Foodfight of which prince was known to start for fun like Michael Jackson, and that was it you were never a fan are you serious!😂🎉
Initially I couldn't stand Prince because I couldn't figure out his personality. But when he released Purple Rain and I heard the solo on Lets Go Crazy...as a musician I realized he was phenomenal. And by the time I saw him on the Grammy's live in 2013, I came to realize this man is musical royalty. Hail to the Prince! ❤
Prince said, “The first line of that song is 'your butt is mine. ' Now I'm saying, 'Who's gonna sing that to whom? Cuz you sure ain't singing it to me, and I sure ain't singing it to you. ' So right there, we got a problem." do you understand now?
Interesting video. Prince was a fantastic musician and highly entertaining to watch on stage. Offstage, It's fun to be around an eccentric for a time, but Prince stretched the definition into narcissism, and was almost certainly quite difficult to be around for any extended period. It was probably difficult to be around several others on this list as well.
There was another. Dee Snider of Twister Sister couldn't stand him. He remembers in his memoir that on an episode of Solid Gold, Prince was scheduled to play on the same program. When Prince walked in, his Body Guards starting yelling at everyone not to look at him as he walked in. He took a strip off of Stevie Wonder, yelling at him not to look at Prince. Stevie is blind FFS.
Prince definitely could be a jerk. But I think most of his weirdo behavior was in his twenties and thirties. As he aged he definitely mellowed and grew into being a wise, kind, mature and enlightened man There are a ton stories highlighting the good side of Prince especially after his spiritual awakening.

Camille was not female. It was supposed to be a surprise album buy a “long lost cousin” to confuse the public and have some fun and then return to his black funk rock roots. It actually turned out to be sort of a symbolic of negative ego driven creative work at the time, including a response to the environment, of which she was recording, mostly of which was at Sunset sound Studios. It was an altar eagle, but it was representative. Another side of him to escape the trappings of the music. He was let Wendy take over. It’s just one big so please you know don’t spread that. Prince may be some beloved icon to his fans, but having worked in the music biz and around industry employees from the 1980’s to just 15 years ago-he was NOT liked by many. While the pro, well-known musicians and artists did appreciate his talents, many (behind closed doors) thought him to be an arrogant little asshole diva. “Sure, he was creative and talented…but not enough to justify his personality” were the words of a famous and VERY well-known artist I spoke with.
Who are jealous. And there’s also indications that this happened at us at a recording studio just by watching and hearing a few stories you get the idea that there might’ve been not only jealousy but a lot of politics. In the mid 80s after the success of purple rain, he expressed an admiration for then President Reagan. That’s when the troubles began that the flashpoint. It wasn’t we are the world. He became so intolerable that it big part of the reason why he created his own records to move back at home is supposed to escape that kind of environment. That unverified entirely, in fairness From those times just in terms of recording song, creation, etc. studio use down to receipts. To the receipts and paperwork. Anyways, there might’ve been also, and this is typical because I work in the creator field undertones of ism and of doubting or suppressing people of color of which can do the job betterof which are believed not to do that work that well. Those are the bigger more pressing issues that seem to persist, hypocritically. But if I think if you’re smart fair and you learn to develop that acuity, just like Prince you can defeat it.

That's actually a perfect example of Prince's delusional arrogance. The fact that he was backed during that performance by arguably the greatest American rock band of all-time, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, yet dropped his guitar and pompously walked offstage as if he was the be all end all and those guys were chopped liver. Never mind that Tom Petty had more songwriting skill in one of his dead skin cells than Prince's mediocre self ever had.
@@djtrendsetta5766 Prince and Petty were good friends. You've got your panties in a bunch over nothing. At the end of that performance Dhani Harrison said "where's Prince? Prince was just showing that The Beatles didn't have shit on him and The R & R HoF is a farce. PS. Why is it that people who call themself DJ are always dumb cuntz?
Being weird and being the oddball is what made him a musical genius because it freed him from maybe the constraints of what people expected him or her whoever to be. It’s freeing. It’s what creates an allows. Creativity to flourish freely. If you’re different and you try to be different and I go with the crowd not be a collectivist. These are the things that Prince champion. It’s all over his music and what he did if you want to remain amongst the masses wearing a mask you know, jumping on every platitude etc. etc. go ahead. You wanna wear your tennis shoes and caps. You wanna do what others do go ahead. But the messages that this artist specifically expressed along with others, was individuality and thinking for yourself and that makes some weird oddball, hallelujah!

Princeton didn’t tear it up. He just customized it for himself and then had the wealth from his success at the time of a comeback tour to fix it. Problem solved big deal.
Prince refusing to do a song with Michael Jackson because of the sexual undertones in the song is a joke in itself when you consider some of the sexual lyrics in a lot of his past songs, especially the songs he put out at the time he was feuding with Michael.
I think, some of these folks were tested by Prince for traces of humor. Obviously, with a person like him, the test would be beyond the ordinary. Now, does anyone really think that someone who has rooms reinstated for 500k, would "assault" a woman with hardened pillows?
Prince couldn't care less. Rick James was stone cold jealous of Prince along with Boy George, who lied 🤥 that he slept with Prince before admitting he lied. Prince was just different and could be difficult. But I NEVER heard Prince speak negatively about Rick James or any other hater. Prince bought joy in my life through his music that is still being released today. With that said, Prince loved his Blackness and song about it quite often. MJ and Prince had nothing but love and respect since 1979 when they both were in California recording at the same time and hanging out. So, STOP pretending otherwise.
Cut the BS. Michael Jackson and Prince were never close and at best only maintained a distant/fragile amiability. They reluctantly acknowledged each other as peers, but they did not socialize or form a friendship, tended to be threatened by each other, and usually resented being compared. Some people simply find it hard to choose between the two, so they try to pretend that they were friends or had some kind of deep respect. They weren't and they didn't.
@pensiveczar2239 You cut BS!😡With your very limited knowledge of Prince and Michael. They have socialized, and Michael have attended a Prince concert. In 79, Quincy Jones was producing the "Off The Wall" album for Michael and Prince was just 30 miles away in Beverly Hills, recording his debut album "Prince" and they would pick Prince up with the Jacksons and go skating. Michael has been to Paisley Park, where they played ping pong. Prince spent four days locked in his bedroom because he felt that bad about Michael's passing.
@pensiveczar2239 Furthermore, Quincy asked Prince if he could produce him in the future. That was the reason for contacting him. Prince responded, "No one will ever produce me."
It’s actually the other way around because in doing such things, including throwing Janet under the bus, leaving her hanging literally it wasn’t Prince the only one who disliked this mediocre this mediocrity that was thrusted in the Publix face. And as you can see with the way he treated Brittany And recent busts. I’m sorry I got to give it up to Prince for making sure his room was not next to this punks.Punk’s.
@kevaughnramsay9846 You know Prince was a good musician, but some people are so jealous and envious of him that they don't want to give him any accolades.
Vanity was not a romantic interest of Rick’s. They were both at the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS in 1982 and somehow people think that means Prince took her from Rick. Didn’t happen.
I met Prince once, by accident, I was backstage at a club in NYC with another band that played there that night and Prince did his after party following his Madison Square Garden show, I had my shih tzu with me and we were playing fetch in the common area back there, My little guy took his toy and ran over and dropped it. I went over to where it was looking at my dog all along, (he is a toy breed). I saw his toy on a high heel boot, looked up and it was Prince, I knew he liked his privacy and said Oh, I'm sorry about that, he laughed and said to the dog, it's okay, I have to go on stage now, then he smiled at me and said he (my dog) thinks Prince is a dogs name. I thought he was a really nice person.
Since Prince has passed, every one needs to show some repect. I would'nt put much confidence in any of these comments from celebrity wannabees. Prince had his problems that he sorted through in his 20s and 30s but he matured and found peace. I love my brother Prince! ❤❤❤
It find it strange that Prince refused to appear in Michael Jackson's Bad video because of the lyrics "Your butt is mine," but a few years later when Prince come out on stage to perform his song Get Off, Prince lies face down on the stage and a male dancer mounts him while Prince pretends to be in pain.
I don’t think it was ever about the butt 😅 MJ wanted to duet the song with Prince but he wasn’t down for that. He had always worked alone tho. He had a very strong idea on what he wanted to create & having to discuss these ideas or look for input from others would have just slowed him down. He wasn’t a great communicator at the best of times with anyone. Even the engineers in the studio with him got minimal feedback. He could write & play everything, sing & produce whole albums on his own. This is also the reason why he declined to be involved in the ‘feed the world’ circus offering a guitar solo instead. Worth noting that at the time of MJs death Prince was rehearsing at the Montreux jazz festival. When he heard he’d passed he sent his band home and stayed in his hotel room for 3 days. He then came out and did a blistering performance of Empty Room. There was some rivalry between them but I think secretly they did have a lot of respect each other 😊
@@ellepayne6020He specifically said in an interview with Chris Rock that he had a problem with that first line and that he backed out of the project because of it, his problem was definitely about the butt. I beg to differ on Trent Reznor. If you really look into it that man is extremely talented.
Now, what reason why Prince and his entourage would trash their green room, and how do you they did it? It could've been done by anybody!
Rick James and his gang were probably too messed up on drugs to do anything :D

It’s actually the other way around because in doing such things, including throwing Janet under the bus, leaving her hanging literally it wasn’t Prince the only one who disliked this mediocre this mediocrity that was thrusted in the Publix face. And as you can see with the way he treated Brittany And recent busts. I’m sorry I got to give it up to Prince for making sure his room was not next to this punks.Punk’s.
He was a weird little dude, but he could damn sure play a guitar.
Nah overrated
@kevaughnramsay9846 You know Prince was a good musician, but some people are so jealous and envious of him that they don't want to give him any accolades.
@@slimdude2011 Sure bro
@@kevaughnramsay9846 your mama is overrated
Who cares everyone hate someone Prince music and style was UNMATCHED. One of the few to TOTALLY DOMINATE. 😊😊😊😊😊
I always wondered if Jimi Hendrix was alive, what would he have thought of Prince
My guess ?.....a bit of an imposter.....
I'm a fan of prince n the king of pop MJJ.. two of the Greatest singers n Entertainers of all times.
The idea of Prince hitting Oconner with a pillow with something hard in it is hilarious.
Vanity was not a romantic interest of Rick’s. They were both at the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS in 1982 and somehow people think that means Prince took her from Rick. Didn’t happen.
Prince Roger Nelson foolish one's was a GENIUS 🌹🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎚️
Prince was the MJ and Kobe Bryant of music.
Who on God's green earth would not like Prince?
He wasn't always nice.
Prince is a Gemini😂 what do you expect 🤣lol
This is hilarious. Especially the O Connor story..
Since Prince has passed, every one needs to show some repect. I would'nt put much confidence in any of these comments from celebrity wannabees. Prince had his problems that he sorted through in his 20s and 30s but he matured and found peace. I love my brother Prince! ❤❤❤
Prince seems like he was too full of himself … yeah he can make music and play instruments but no reason to behave like that
It find it strange that Prince refused to appear in Michael Jackson's Bad video because of the lyrics "Your butt is mine," but a few years later when Prince come out on stage to perform his song Get Off, Prince lies face down on the stage and a male dancer mounts him while Prince pretends to be in pain.
I don’t think it was ever about the butt 😅
MJ wanted to duet the song with Prince but he wasn’t down for that.
Why he eventually decided to have a guy mount him is anyone’s guess, but he did assume there were homosexual undertones in Bad, which I’m sure Michael Jackson LOVED hearing.😂
@@nunyabusiness-sv7re You need to rewatch that interview because it wasn't about butts in a sexual way. Prince stated that "Your butt is mine" is slang for "I own you or I have control over you". Prince said to Chris Rock, that He wasn't going to have MJ sing that to him, nor would he sing that back to him, because MJ wasn't going to have that kind of power over Prince.
@@Angiela_333 That is incorrect. The lyrics are, "Your butt is mine..." In real life people often say, "Your ass is mine." In the 90s when we got disrespected by someone, we'd say, "If you do that again, that's yo ass." In Bad, Michael went with, "Your butt is mine."
@@pompasduris you are correct....I am sorry. I always thought its "blood". In a P docu I remember they ask him about that...and I think to remember they said "blood".
Never mind. In any case P didnt want to be in this "your butt is mine" position, what is understandable.
