I actually would like to remind people, that the dragon parents are such horrible parents in WOF, that Tui specifically thanked her parents for not being like them in The Lost Continent. I just find that so interesting and kinda hilarious.
Riptide’s character was COMPLETELY WASTED. He could’ve had such a better role to play but he was written as a vanilla Chad. He could’ve been so interesting. Justice for Riptide!
When you did your "ranking wings of fire characters" video and you got to riptide I had to pause the video to remember who he was and I didn't remember until I unpaused and you mentioned ripnami.
Ok but for me the graphic novels are actually kind of good.. I don’t like how they took out some of the stuff from the regular books, but I like admiring the art because I could never draw like that-
For me they’re badly drawn, and have no consideration for charadesign or composition. Of course that does not mean everyone could draw that, but for a professional book it’s a shame. If you like the art that’s cool for you, I just wouldn’t advice to take it as a reference.
The Dark Secret is honestly such a good book though. Starflights developement, the whole atmosphere.. I instantly liked it and it stood out amongst the other books of the first arc. The only thing I didn't really like was the constant presence of Fatespeaker. I know she's supposed to be Starflights "light at the end of the tunnel" but she can get pretty annoying and I feel like her personality is maybe a little much for him. She's the kind of character you'd expect Sunny to be at first. "I love Fatespeaker, sehr was great" is definetly another thing a lot of people wouldn't say lmao Oh yeah and Riptide was the squidbrain guy

Honestly Whirlpool sorta confused me in the second book, like how everyone just hates him for how he naturally is, and I don’t remember ever reading why he attacked Tsunami, and then he dies so quickly and suddenly and no one really seems to care after his death

I mean, moonbli is basically canon now because in book 15 flames of hope Luna guessed that Qibli was 'her Swordtail' from the way they looked at each other, and the fact that they slept side by side every night on the trip to Pantala

Yes, I agree, MudWings are underrated! Not to underpowered or overpowered, pretty well balanced. They are adorable little mud blobs :) Though, some of my friends are kinda... *OBSESSED* with MudWings, and I do think that their loved for the blobs are a little much, but MudWings are underrated
The non overpowered thing didn't have to come with them being so bland though let's be honest...like the only thing separat I ng mudwings from just some gators on steroids is wings. Like to balance it out we coulda gotten more into what makes mudwings mudwings, and why we should care but tui didn't do that she kinda just went "here's some himbo dragons...moving on"

Thank you! I’ve seen so many fans hate Anemone because she was actually affected by the stuff she went through. The same goes for other characters who actually seemed to be affected by what happened to them, exceptions being dragonets that act like toddlers. I like to call this “Mable Syndrome,” where a young character is hated by the surrounding fans for messing up once or twice when there are clear worse characters that are beloved. Darkstalker is a horrible dragon, and yet people seem to forgive him on a whim while claiming that Anemone is a whiny, selfish brat when the only person she has ever killed was A PREDATOR THAT PLANNED TO MARRY HER WHEN SHE CAME OF AGE and Darkstalker killed his literal father, willingly traumatizing his sister, “girlfriend,” best friend, and ENTIRE TRIBE.
It's the fact that about half of the major problems in this book series could have been avoided if the dragons with animus powers actually stopped for a moment and thought before they cast a spell
A lot of these are actually opinions that people have. I don't agree with a lot of them, but The Dark Secret is actually one of my favorite books of WoF. Not my absolute favorite but a great book

Personally, I love Anemone, and one of my favorite ships are Anemone X Tamarin. No I do not agree with Anemone’s behavior throughout a majority of the 2nd arc, however I love her character development and I loved to see how she changed. Also I cannot blame her, growing up as a princess who always had everything right at her talons, it kinda would become nature after it is repeated over and over again, and she got so used to it she was like that even outside of her kingdom. It took her a long time for her to discover that it was not right, and she’s probably still adjusting to it all. Anemone is young, she is learning and I love watching her grow and see her love for her brother Turtle after they came to terms after the animus battle.
Lmao unpopular opinion. I don't see moon as a Mary Sue, but I can see why a lot of ppl see her that way. I have a bias cause I relate so hard with her social anxiety and fears of being hated if she is herself.
Her being unable to block other people’s thoughts reminded me a lot of overstimulation. I’m autistic and I felt exactly the same way hearing everyone talk during lunch at school

While I wouldn't necessarily call the forth book my most favorite, I did actually really like it. The lore about the Nightwings was really interesting too. Coming from a guy who's favorite tribe is the Nightwings. Right next to the Rainwings. I'd say my favorite book was actually the 14th one. The 15th was awesome too but lacked so much potential and very much needed context that it failed to add. Very disappointing in that regard.
I think things that should be added to "Wings of Fire" fans never say. "Darkstalker shall rise again!" Because you know making earrings that cancel Darkstalkers spells and giving them to literally every Dragon in Pyrrhia isn't a recipe for disaster or anything.

I LOVE STARFLIGHT he and moon and cricket are my faves. And no. Moon is not a Mary Sue. The graphic novels are honestly great for what they are. Scavengers are actually quite interesting, but come on, they’re no dragons! I do remember riptide, but I’ve read all the books FAAAAR too many times lol. Sunlow I feel crosses from “true love” into “supreme tail-kissing” and as a result I never got past the first few chapters of book 13, and read the wiki summary instead. Despite that I still love arc three though!

My hot takes on this wof: Willow and sundew I do not like I’m sorry I personally love the graphic novel series (but I love the regular books too) Moon watcher isn’t much of a Mary Sue (from what I’ve seen. Yes I have read all the books.) I love both winterwatcher and moonbli Arc 1 was not the best arc
Attack me if you want but my favorite book for the first arc is Starflight's book The Dark Secret. I think it expanded on Starflights character quite a bit and it let us know why the Nightwings were so desperate. I honestly feel bad for the Nightwings because almost immediately after they finally started getting their lives back on track in the rainforest Darkstalker comes in as the guy with "free candy" and baits them into dying for a war that is only for petty revenge. Also yes before you ask I am one of the people who thinks animus magic is not a born curse. You don't lose your soul by using your magic. Fathom was living proof of that since he lived a happy life in the end with Indigo. It's like what people say about video games. It's not the games causing you to do bad stuff it's your own life choices that make it that way for you. That is all I have to say.
If I made my own video like this, it would say something like 'saying that it's canon is a great reason/justification for why you ship something and should pester other people until they ship it too!'.
I can definitely confirm that you stated the entire truth. No wings of fire fan would ever say these things…except for about Winterwatcher and Moonbli. Those 2 ships have the cannon stamp of approval.
Whirlpool is actually my favorite wings of fire character. like I’m not even joking The reason why is actually a bit more complicated but TLDR; morally complicated but still unredeemable slimy characters who you’d never want to meet in real life are my favorite. The treatment of characters like whirlpool are ten times more interesting than characters like darkstalker because trying to MARRY a child is slightly less redeemable in my heart than murder in a book series. Whirlpool and darkstalker have their morally GREY parts, if it weren’t for tiny snippets of redeemability they’d just be morally black. Whirlpool was only trying to marry anemone so that he could be king. Is that still ok? No! It doesn’t excuse his actions at all but it plays a very reasonable explanation for why he would do such a thing, he makes sense as a character. He’s fairly human, there are real life people that are like whirlpool and that’s why he’s so interesting to me. I wish we got more characters like him

While I wouldn't necessarily call the forth book my most favorite, I did actually really like it. The lore about the Nightwings was really interesting too. Coming from a guy who's favorite tribe is the Nightwings. Right next to the Rainwings. I'd say my favorite book was actually the 14th one. The 15th was awesome too but lacked so much potential and very much needed context that it failed to add. Very disappointing in that regard.

I LOVE STARFLIGHT he and moon and cricket are my faves. And no. Moon is not a Mary Sue. The graphic novels are honestly great for what they are. Scavengers are actually quite interesting, but come on, they’re no dragons! I do remember riptide, but I’ve read all the books FAAAAR too many times lol. Sunlow I feel crosses from “true love” into “supreme tail-kissing” and as a result I never got past the first few chapters of book 13, and read the wiki summary instead. Despite that I still love arc three though!

Attack me if you want but my favorite book for the first arc is Starflight's book The Dark Secret. I think it expanded on Starflights character quite a bit and it let us know why the Nightwings were so desperate. I honestly feel bad for the Nightwings because almost immediately after they finally started getting their lives back on track in the rainforest Darkstalker comes in as the guy with "free candy" and baits them into dying for a war that is only for petty revenge. Also yes before you ask I am one of the people who thinks animus magic is not a born curse. You don't lose your soul by using your magic. Fathom was living proof of that since he lived a happy life in the end with Indigo. It's like what people say about video games. It's not the games causing you to do bad stuff it's your own life choices that make it that way for you. That is all I have to say.

I can definitely confirm that you stated the entire truth. No wings of fire fan would ever say these things…except for about Winterwatcher and Moonbli. Those 2 ships have the cannon stamp of approval.

Whirlpool is actually my favorite wings of fire character. like I’m not even joking
The reason why is actually a bit more complicated but TLDR; morally complicated but still unredeemable slimy characters who you’d never want to meet in real life are my favorite. The treatment of characters like whirlpool are ten times more interesting than characters like darkstalker because trying to MARRY a child is slightly less redeemable in my heart than murder in a book series. Whirlpool and darkstalker have their morally GREY parts, if it weren’t for tiny snippets of redeemability they’d just be morally black. Whirlpool was only trying to marry anemone so that he could be king. Is that still ok? No! It doesn’t excuse his actions at all but it plays a very reasonable explanation for why he would do such a thing, he makes sense as a character. He’s fairly human, there are real life people that are like whirlpool and that’s why he’s so interesting to me. I wish we got more characters like him
