@@angelmessenger8240 Me too, no town is too small! I enjoy hearing about other places in any form!! Thank you Curious World, for bringing these past events to people like me in Podunk, east Texas!!
This was excellent. I love the 'local' sense of the storytelling, you have done a great job in telling these tales, respectfully balancing the facts, locations and lives of local people. Well done.
As a loyal subscriber I’ve never been disappointed with any of your videos. You always come across as knowledgeable and narrate with determination and honesty in your voice. Thank you for all the time and effort that you put into making this video and I for one really appreciate it.
I constantly check your channel for new uploads and often I am disappointed, but when I get content this good, it is worth the wait, thank you, keep it up, all the best!
Please do continue telling stories from your local area. I enjoy listening to local stories because they are always less known and are often very intriguing.
Very interesting and well put together. It's also a good thing that people who have long passed are remembered in some way now and again, even if it was such in sad circumstances that they met their end.
There's nothing wrong telling good stories no matter where you find them or setting they are in. Near or far from where you live. So thank you.🙂 Somerset and Chard is a beautiful part of England. A pretty historic town going by the street views.
The quality of these videos is outstanding! Well researched information, beautifully shot location footage, excellent sound quality and thoughtful choices in background music. Really top notch!
Fascinating! I live not far from Chard and have visited the reservoir - there is sometimes a strange feeling in the area. I wonder how many other bodies lie in its depths.... Dr Gillingham's work was amazing.
Love these old stories no matter where they may have happened. You have a real knack at narrating, and historical happenings. England is such a historical place ant way, makes it much more mysterious. See you on the next one.
@@CuriousWorldProductions You are mistaken. England has a certain mysterious attraction to most people around the world. Your traditions, your rich history and the beauty of your country and also of all those places that make the British Isles. ❤️
Excuse me, my name is Lillian, may I ask you a question? Do you follow/subscribe to Takis... The dog rescuer in Crete? It's just I thought I recognised your name. Thank you. 🙂
We love your stuff CW! Don't sorry about it at all. Especially when you give us things no one else has reported on here. Happy Easter and thank you Curious💜🐰🐤🙏😍
As I once lived in the beautiful county of Somerset and now reside in Australia, I welcome hearing the stories, history and accents of the area. Keep the local ones coming.
I have been enjoying your videos for about a year now and your subjects, videos, and narration have been amazing. I also love that you list your sources too. I actually tracked down a copy of G F Munford Ghosts and Legends of South Somerset after watching one of your videos.
@@CuriousWorldProductions I tried to find an original copy but it's really hard to find in the U.S. I did find a company on Abe Books that makes reprints of out of print books for a reasonable price. The covers kinda generic but the quality isn't too bad. I think all they did was print the digital version out on printer paper and bound it into a book. 😆
Another beautifully filmed and well-researched story. I never ceased to be amazed at the excellence of your videos. I truly appreciate your simple serious presentation without any need to manipulate the emotions of your audience, instead letting the stories speak for themselves with their own voices. Please keep it up, and as always, I look forward to your next upload!
I've visited Chard on a number do occasions, visiting former (retired) colleagues, and, less pleasantly, interring my Fiancee (25 years ago). Your video clips sum it up nicely - "rather wet", and a very nice town to visit. Had an (unsuccessful) go at fishing in the reservoir, but I was completely unaware of its somewhat darker history! One wonders just how many bodies have been "conveniently disposed of" in the many deep reservoirs in the UK - reservoirs that are generally remote, and so "away from prying eyes". An excellent presentation as usual, and I wonder who that "spare hand" belonged to? Thanks as always for exceptional content, and a great New Year to you and yours!
It’s good to see someone taking the time to do stories from the uk especially some local history. I don’t think people realise just how fascinating our history can be. It’s certainly not as boring as I always thought it was when I was at school!...
I enjoyed this a lot. As a child, I grew up in Chard, and it was lovely to see the old place again. Never heard the story of these bodies being found in the area. In fact I don't recall many murder mysteries from there at all. Although there were legions of ghosts of Monmouth's men marching along The Drift at night! It's great you are keeping local history alive!
Reservoirs are usually cold lonely places and quite a few bodies have been found in them over the years. Lots of murky secrets yet to be discovered I expect. Poor lady found in this one. Love these local tales, look forward to your next; they make for great listening!
A Welcome episode, thanks CW. Well researched and superbly narrated, yet again. I would love to see some of the more obscure regional tales. Your tales are always new or presented in a very refreshing style. Truly top of your game in the UK brother! 👍😁
Gotta love these stories of England, your stories are awesome. The depth of your stories is not usual to come across on here, hence the depth of my interest in your telling of the lives and places that have yet to be told. (Or reiterated in a larger medium) I hope you get way more subs as your detail and research are Much better then most on here, i look forward to more awesome stories. Keep it up!
This made me so sad... Only 29 years old - with her whole life ahead of her. I think she was planning to take her own life and that's why she made the comment that she would be "even quieter tomorrow". RIP Susan 🌷
I have just discovered the videos on your channel. They are interesting (even if the subjects are a bit morbid), in my opinion VERY well scripted, edited and filmed, your voice is a pleasure to listen to, the background music very fitting, in short: a pleasure to watch! Thank you! I have subscribed!
Fascinating and rather sad. You don't need to say that a story, being of local interest won't be for everyone - your no nonsense, and untheatrical presentation, and concise research, makes your videos very attractive indeed. Thank you.
Thanks for the video CW I am on day five of self isolation due to testing positive for the old Corona so this was a gentle distraction . At least we can all remember Susan , poor lass .💕
The day of Susan's disappearance, November 9 1888, is also the final day of the supposedly last victim of Jack the Ripper, Mary Kelly. This is possibly pure coincidence but interesting that their final hours coincide
Love your videos. Your voice is so soothing too! I recognised both Susan's surname and her sister Elizabeth's. As well as the location. I jumped on Ancestory and turns out I'm a decendant of Elizabeth Spiller! Thanks to this video I have been able to fill in some gaps in my family tree. And learn of this heart breakingly tragic story. Thank you!
This story was intriguing... Well narrated... Beautifully filmed.. it had atmosphere. And of course the sad loss of a human being. Perhaps many more... Perhaps connected or not connected to the Thames Torso murders.
Very interesting "little" stories regarding events that no one would've recalled had not this documentarian spent the time to inform us of them--but I'm glad he did!
The story of the severed hand reminds me of the feet that keep showing up on the coast of B.C., the theory is that the bodies were either dumped from a boat, or jumped from ferries, were weighted down and the ankle being exposed to the critters in the water sever the joint and the athletic shoes buoyancy float the feet to the shore.
I made a sarcastic comment on a previous video a few years back of yours, something like "its good, but it's not quite top 5's is it?" And I want to apologise. I've been watching alot of your videos recently and the amount of research you do right up to visiting the places and speaking to the locals is something I don't see anyone else on RUclips doing.
