- From BeachConnectio.... Something else not to do on Oregon coast: when tides and waves are high like this, a small beach like this one is trouble. These people got lucky. Don't rely on luck. More about beach safety www.beachconnec...
I’m at the coast often when big surf and high tides combine, and you just have to be watching AND have a good escape route. Then it’s safer than driving on I-5.
Explains why I never see anyone swimming in Oregon
If you watch the ocean you can see the water starting to stack up, that's when you head to higher ground or at least be ready to run.
Every 7th wave
Leads to an early grave.
People who don't leave close to the ocean underestimate its power.
There are signs along Oregon beaches saying "never turn you back on the ocean" .
Somebody should correct their poor English!

I fear the ocean as much as I love it.
Now I'm too afraid to go thru Maxwell point tunnel. No escape on the other side.
there is a schedule of low and high tides. just pay attention. i used to go clamming all the time when i was a kid. never an issue
And be careful going around headlands like this one so you don't get stuck or be in the water.
Yes..the tunnel is over there...can you see it. It leads to lost boy beach.
Beautiful but dangerous.
Pockets are full of agates tho.
Winter is the best time to find agates on the Oregon coast but beware !
the guy farthest out looked to have sneakers on.. which only attracts them. not wise
They looked like professional beach combers, probably knew exactly what they were doing.
No way, The furthest guy out could not outrun the sneaker wave, and possibly the other two as well..!!
Pro Beach Combers… Where do I sign up for that?
