I found this channel when you were heart broken and now look were you are, In my neighborhood with one of our great ladys. The boat suddenly looks bigger and cleaner haha
You continue to inspire ,James, and Rhonda is a great addition to the team. Wishing you guys lots more adventures and happiness. Thanks for all you do.
From someone who has been landlocked my entire life until just about 2 years ago: I went to California and saw the ocean for the first time and was absolutely gobsmacked by it...The size, the colors, the smell, the sound, the waves, just absolutely everything about it called to me immediately. I'm once again landlocked for the time being and these adventures hold me over until I can make it back there! I'm immensely jealous of you guys! Keep up the awesome adventures :)
The first time I ever saw the pacific ocean was after a storm in the early 90s in San Francisco… I stared at it slack jawed in amazement. All I could think was “This has NEVER stopped moving”
@@SailorJames I thought about this too one day. Every second there are so many waves crashing on the shores around the world. I might go take a sailing class at a local lake this summer
@@SailorJames i started to watch Wind hippie. just got to the video of you helping her fit her cables. youre a gent and a scholar. i do have to say she makes us mere men look like pansies though:)
Cool hat James! I had one just like it! California was cool in the 90s but not so much anymore. I live just north of Panama City Beach now and life is better. If you ever get close by I'd love to yarn out about sailing, boat life and travel. Jus sayin'
Rhonda's adventuring experience really shows. Very refreshing. Often new crew awkwardly try to fit in as they learn new skills and adjust to the cruising life. Many never do, it's not for everyone.
It was one of my favorite things to think about when I was in NZ, how only 800-1000 years ago NO people were there, it must have been a for the Polynesians to make landfall on such a massive landmass
I started watching you maybe a month before you welcomed Rhonda aboard. You two inspire me to try something new, and to not be afraid to move forward every day in life. Most importantly, to always keep my heart open. Safe travels and keep inspiring. 💨 ⛵️
Good on you, mate! You guys are made for each other! Enjoy this awesome adventure, both of you! To be only governed by the weather and tides and keeping food and water in your bellies! Dreams, dude! Fair winds
Thank you James and your beautiful lady! Besides the jaw dropping footage you show us, your videos are extremely calming. And your relaxed attitude. Keep them coming ❤ ❤❤ Love you guys
Hello James and Rhonda, loved this video. NZ is really something else. Living and travelling on a yacht, eating gourmet food (looked pretty good), and jumping in the ocean because you can, haha. Doesn't get better than that. Take care and Happy Sails. All the best.
Too late now but if you're ever back that way and feel like a bit of land time you may enjoy a multi-day hike in the Nelson Lakes, maybe up to Blue Lake (if it hasn't been ruined since I was there in 1975).
Thanks James and Rhonda for the memories. Been there, done that. For future reference, up into Chance Bay, at low tide, you'll find a good supply of Pacific Rock Oysters. Great in beer batter, or base for seafood chowder. I couldn't tell from the camera angle, how close you were to them. Also if you knew where to look, you'd find the mother lode for greenshell mussels. They come ashore as spat, from the Mussel Farms, and attach themselves to the rocks, and bingo you'd have enough for a decent legal feed. See what I'm doing.. I'm giving you an excuse to return here, especially back into the sounds. Again thank you for sharing your experiences within the sounds. Loving the new look channel. Take care in Oz.
have fished in the sounds before, would recommend bait to catch fish, something smelly like squid/octopus you can buy or yeah even something you don't have to pay for like mussels off the rocks will do the trick. good luck
Hi James, and Rhonda, wow what a fantastic adventure you guys need together I’m going to be very sad when Rhonda has to leave. She adds to that videos so much and James you looks so much happier , I suppose it’s like everything sometimes it’s gotta come to the end but I believe it’s not. The end of your relationship is two crazy people just loving experience exploring Cliff from Australia
I’m inspired to spend time in the sounds nezt summer. i love the …….turned into 16 days??? Next it will be….16 mnths, 16 years. Rhondas kitchen is a show in itself. Will be sad when yr M.sounds series is over .
Tip, Take the dingy over to the mussel farms behind you, tie up to a bouy, knock some mussels off the bouys with your oar and get ya lady to bounce that lure she had on the bottom, thats where ya fish are. Enjoy your videos.
some fishing tips on Keel boats- Subiki rigs get some for catching bait fish work pretty much anywhere. (just ask at a fishing store) you can even feed yourself quite well with Subiki's if you don't mind smaller fish (NZ yellowtail mackerel off the bone are delicious) Kitchen bait substitutes- bread, cheese, heavy flour batter/dough, any meat from Bacon to chicken skin, including steak. Check local fishing rules where ever you go even NZ has different fishing zones with subtle law changes. Its an art but if you can master softbait fishing in your boat then you have a steady fish supply anywhere in the world. I had a similar boat for the last couple of decades drifting the boat helm over in light to moderate conditions actively fishing your softbait on or near the bottom will catch all the nice eating species in appropriate sizes.
An other awesome video - Chance Bay is EPIC!!!! Did you get the opportunity to take the tender up the river to the western end at high tide? It's like a different world up there! We have a video on Chance Bay in the edit suite right now - what a great piece of New Zealand.
Love your videos. You started in CA, then Hawaii, then Bora Bora, etc. Now in New Zealand. What are your next stops before going all the way around the world?
Not sure where you are now but I'm guessing you probably delay your videos so as not to give your location away? If you are headed to Nelson I'd love the chance to say kia ora and check out your vessel?
Not at all, no more red tape than any other country and the customs officials were super nice in Australia and there’s tons of free public mooring balls all over NSW
Just a thought trolling around the shore edges and the mussel farm edges with a hex lure or old school white popper out the back of your dinghy at 3 - 5 knots should be a productive way of securing a kahwai or 2. When you get a kahwai on board can make great bait also for your bottom feeders ie snapper etc 🛥️🐟
I found this channel when you were heart broken and now look were you are, In my neighborhood with one of our great ladys. The boat suddenly looks bigger and cleaner haha
yes he was very heartbroken and when i met James he want very engaging. so glad he met someone that resonated with him .

Stumbled across your videos recently. So good to see you enjoying the Sounds. My neck of the woods ❤

What a magical place! Makes me think about those first Polynesians discovering Aotearoa, they really hit the jackpot.

Chance Bay is a great little anchorage. Big adventure in a small trailer yacht out of Havelock with my son a few years ago
We loved Chance Bay, so beautiful!
I know envy is not usually a good thing but i certainly do envy your adventures.
I know that its hard to fix your flotorhome all the time but it looks like living in a wonderful dream

That's quite an upgrade from Ramen Noodles!!
We ate Ramen last night for dinner, nothing wrong with Ramen 😂
