I smelled both of these today and the Parfum was hands down better! BUT, I think that is because the original EDP has a stronger leather scent which isn’t my style. Which is also why I surprised myself in quite liking the Parfum!
So if you’re not a fan of a powerful leather scent, but want to get into something of that style, the Parfum is excellent! The leather is still there but not as much of presence as EDP.
I should also note that my impression was only on tester strips :)
Received my bottle yesterday and i find the differences with the 2018 version are slight. The parfum lasts little longer but doesn’t project as much as EDP. And I also get some similarities with White Patchouli in the drydown. Great unboxing Sebastian!
Just got a sample of this yesterday. My initial impression was that it felt more like a "green" version of the fragrance. Almost a grassy/ suede like green-ness in the opening. As it dried down though, my other observation is that it was a much lighter fragrance than the original. It feels much more like a "wear to work" fragrance where as the original is kind of a date night/ night out scent. I actually really like that difference as it gives me something to wear to the office each day. One of my favorite layering combos is Ombre Leather with Prada L'Homme and now with the added iris and lightness of the Parfum, this combo is even better (wearing it today and I'm in love).
I think if you own the original, you probably don't need to buy this unless you're looking for the features I mentioned above. It definitely smells great but not an essential purchase. Thanks for the review!

@@vin-a-laugh don't get why leather - and especially a clean one like OL edp - has such a masculine connotation for some. This smells like a new leather handbag and the lingering scents of cosmetics/other scented things you've chucked in it. 💅

I think contrary to what you said Sebastian, you should continue giving your opinion of the performance of fragrances too. We're here to listen to your opinion of fragrances so who cares if someone else has a different opinion. In any case when it comes to fragrances, whether it be its performance or how good it is, all opinions are highly subjective anyway so it really doesn't matter if everyone agrees with you or not.
I bought the original Fall runway release in 2017. Fell in love with it! They told me it would be discontinued, so I bought the decanter. I’m glad they bought it back. I don’t go anywhere without spraying it on!

EDP I feel is stronger! I just tried both of them on my skin. EDP still smells fresh after a long time
I am loving the lack of cap as well as the glasses...looking very chic!
I’m a woman and bought the EDP for myself, though I may let my husband use it if he asks nicely. I wanted a leather fragrance for my collection. Still testing, it is rather a strong scent, a little skanky for the first hour or so. I bought it to layer with sweet frags to give them some backbone. I like it well enough to not return it, but this is outside my comfort zone right now as far as wearing in public. I’ve never had this much leather in a fragrance and it takes some getting used to.

Instead of a parfum of ombre leather ; i wish they bring back plum japonaise or tobbaco oud intense into the signature line
Parfums are not simply louder versions but rather richer compositional variations (e.g. Chanel, Dior, YSL… and even as you mentioned, Tom Ford). Often times, parfums actually have less sillage than EDPs thanks to the increased density of the composition and less alcohol (alcohol evaporates faster and helps increase diffusion). It’s all a matter of how we define “intensity”.
The original is a 10/10 for me , getting the Parfum Makes no sense for me
Def stick with the OG. The Parfum version should be the EDP and the EDP the parfum version. Pointless release imo

I was waiting for your review of this one, i picked up a bottle a couple days ago and i'm enjoying it..I agree with everything you said and i feel like the Parfum version could pass for a summer night easily even thos i don't really care because i wear whatever i like anytime lol..The parfum version is a little bit airy and has something fresh that i can't pin point yet if that makes sense..Thanks for the review again..Have a good one Sebastian.
I tried it yesterday at my local Bloomingdales and wasn’t impressed. The added violet note gives it that gasoline vibe, which was sort of off-putting to me. I prefer the sweetness of the 2018 version.
Ombre leather has something in common with Fahrenheit. Not exactly the same but anyone who is into Fahrenheit should like Ombre Leather a lot. Similar vibe and both have violet leaf.

I I gotta admit ombre leather original is one of my favourites. I also have the aqua di parma leather but the tom Ford leather smells nicer
But perception of scent profile is different for every one too. Not just performance.
I have Ombré Leather. Very rich, classy, refined, straight-ahead linear leather fragrance.
But that's it, I don't need to buy the new Parfum.

You only have to please yourself . Whatever makes you comfortable and happy do it. Any way you look handsome both ways👍

I'm with you on performance. We have so many variables that can change performance. Is it hot or cold outside, where did you spray the fragrance, how many sprays did you use, etc.
To me this is “Black Orchid” layered/mixed with “Ombré Leather”… Nuff Said. 😎

Oh I was waiting for this one, and I will buy it just to have the first batch, I absolutely love Ombre Leather so if they are similar I don't think it will be a disappointment, and the idea of layering both sounds good. I was hoping for a little even a small resemblance with Fahrenheit, every time I hear violet leaf I cross my fingers. So true what you say about performance BVLGARI MAN WOOD NEROLI performs like a monster on my skin, 10 hours + and almost everyone says it last for 3-4 hours. I appreciate the detailed as usual first impressions, thank you Sebastian!!!

I am a huge fan of the 2018 version. Definitely in my top 5 for keeps.
It does make sense that this is really a Parfum concentration since the original was already Eau de Parfum. For me it seems that Tom Ford is doing the original Chanel and Dior move: Release a new concentration but change a little bit so that people that have already the original are willing to buy the new one. If it would have just been the original in "Power House", then who would buy it? Would feel like a cheap move 🙈
EDP is the better leather choice.
The parfum reminds me of Donna Karan…which is nice….but not as leathery as I want
TF had done what all the well known Parfume houses! They've ruined the original, just because have to have the new edition! Pls, pls, houses! Do keep the originals in production! Even if you have to do the new damn editions! Because our smell of life is always coming somewhere from the past! And for your new look Sebastian, it is very updated with classical charm!
I’ve been enjoying my 10ml of OLP. Honestly I have never tried the original Ombré leather. The Parfum is very soft. I can still smell it the next day which I imagine is indicative of the Parfum concentration. Very little projection. I like it, but again I’ve never tried the original so I cannot compare.
Boy I tell you, the original PROJECTS!!!! You could choke someone if you overspray also ling lasting.

I own the original Ombre Leather 16. I bought a vintage Tom Ford 30ml atomizer and the Saks rep filled it with OL16. Can't imaging the parfum being any better.

I like the edp edition slightly more but I am concerned about the reformulation that you say it has been and it is not that intense!! I like the perfume I wear to be quite intense, so I think about if it's worth buying!(edp edition) Do you consider it as a weak perfume anyway?
I layer the parfum version with Rose. Perfection. And I don’t like rose nor leather😝

Violet flower is in the original and violet leaf is in the new one. That being said I have no glue what the difference is between the flower & the leaf.
The black orchid Edp and Parfum smelled mostly same to me so did not buy Parfum
