Been looking at getting my first bike and I keep gravitating back to the Rebel 500. Love the styling. Like how it's a neutral riding position. I don't want a crotch rocket or a chopper. I like how the Rebel is light and maneuverable. And now knowing that should I become comfortable enough to take it on the interstate where the speed limits are between 60 and 70 mph (95-112 kph), I could keep up with the flow (without trashing the fuck out of it) rather than be the dork on the proverbial 45 mph (70 kph) scooter holding up traffic.
I have a 113cc motorscooter and it does about 60mph on flat roads. But it lacks power. Rebel 500 is a fine bike for urban riding. Interstates... possible, but I wouldn't like to ride a long time on interstates on bikes like this. Gets more exhausting than naked bikes or bikes with fairing.
That’s actually really nice 👍🏻 in my country max speed is 130 km/h more than that license is gone. But it’s nice to see it actually can cruise at 130km/h
That is why I make these videos so you know at what speeds you can cruise. Almost no one rides the top speeds every day but yes, 130 km/h is good to maintain if you have the wind in your back. If you have headwind I think 110 km/h is a better cruising speed because of the seating position.
For anyone who simply wanted this guy to share the top speed... From Honda authorized dealer: Hi Wik, Thanks for asking about the Honda Rebel 300 & 500 speed capabilites. Both share the same chassis so comfort and handling are the same. -The 300 has a reported top speed of around 95 MPH. It can handle 70 MPH highway trips well. The Rebel 300 ABS at MSRP goes out the door with all dealer fees, taxes, title and tag for $6,184. -The 500 will go close to 115 MPH making 80 and up trips a real possibility. The 500 ABS goes out the door for $7,880. There's probably some wiggle room on the prices so give me a call and let's see which bike fits your needs the best. I look forward to hearing from you soon, until then, Cheers!
A stock cmx250 from '14 can do 85 with no real wind interference, I'll take the word of the guy who scheduled my test ride, and is authorized to sell, and service Honda's, by Honda over random RUclips conjecture. Either way, I will let you know in a couple hours.
85 is no problem for a 250cc. Funny how you take the word from some sales guy who probably never rode on a Rebel 500 over a video whichs proofs what the top speed is. How much more proof do you want? Hope you have a camera on your helmet, because I really want to see that 115mph on a flat road. :) Rebel 500 has been tuned for more torque and hp at mid range compared to the CBR500 / CB500F / CB500X.
Oops I deleted Wik's answer, but here is the copy: "Funny how I hit 105 easily, and for a good clip, and without the feeling of overtaxing the engine before getting waved off by the guy who rode with me on my test ride...but my bad, you had an inkling right? I weigh about 180...my 500 goes indicated 95 mph...but I live in Raton New Mexico...elevation of 6600 to 6700 or above depending on where you are...really good little motor...God bless have a good day.
That is fast enough for a cruiser. Raton.. that is pretty close to The Great Sand Dunes in CO where I've been last year. Also went to NM, but not via Raton. Great surroundings in that part of the USA.
This reminds me of the good old days, back when I drove a Gremlin to school. I lived my life a quarter mile at a time. And with four maypops, a driver's side door that would fly open if I took the curve too fast; a hood that would more likely than not fly up at speeds over 50mph, it was an exciting time.
It's a cruiser so 170kmh is enough. Me as long as it does 140-150kmh Im happy. With Olhins shocks, front fork upgrade and better tires the Rebel will be perfect.
@@Melzzk89 It never crossed my mind, although it sounds like a good idea, indeed. Honda tries to make most of their motorcycles, not only reliable but specially fuel economic. Well, remaping the ECU will make it accelerate more and get more speed, but that will come with the cost of using more fuel which will turn a economical 500cc bike into a kind of thirsty fuel slurping niponic "harley davidson" type of bike. Besides that, not everyone is trustworthy to change the ECU software, and legally - that's informatic piracy - which will have legal action against the owner in case of an potential accident that might involve police authorities (forensics) or in a legally forced anual vehicle inspection (depending on the country). Have a great week! Ride safe! And watch good movies!🏍💨✌😉
Just what I thought. My top when I tried it was 104/mph and that was with the wind assisting me. You’d probably have to go downhill if you wanted to hit 120/mph or something.
It's fine bike., I rode a ninja 250 for the longest time. This bike is great for cities, back roads where you're doing 90-100kph ,but it's a little buzzy at 120, the jump to the 1100 is worth it. The 1100 is sitting pretty at 120kph, and it will just get to speed.
Perfectly fine top speed. Engine is geared and tuned to be understressed for longevity. Could go faster in 6th by tucking down and going downhill without a passenger videotaping. Then maybe changing sprockets and drafting behing a car.
El carnet a2 te deberia de permitir llevar una moto de 550cc. Podrían haberlas limitado a 59cv en lugar de 47. A q si, makina? Y podrias alcanzar 200 km/h en lugar de 170.
Thanks for the video!! I wanted to get this bike but i wondering the top speed...seems like 160 for long distance would hurt the engine a lot i guess..
Oh for long distances you probably won't go faster than 130km/h. Cruising speed (comfortable) of around 115-120km/h is more than enough for this type of bike. The top speed is ok, but rather irrelevant for this type of bike. :)
140 kmh is good enough to be a cruiser in the city. I think its perfect for a beginner trying to learn. just enough to go on the highway. Nothing more is really needed tbh.
Thanks for that. Got a Givi windscreen on my 500cc Rebel, far more comfortable than riding without one. 120 km/h is just fine for me because if I do lots faster than that I can lose my licence followed closely by my job. But thanks for testing it out and sharing.
100 kph is fast enough at what gear though? As long as I can use it in the expressway that's enough. Here in the Philippines 400cc and above are the only vehicles that are expressway legal hahah
Hard to ride the Rebel at those speeds. CBR500R is much easier because of the seating position and fairing. Rebel 500's cruising speed is about 115-120 km/h. No more than that.
Above 130 km/h it sucks on probably any cruiser, if you ask me. It has been 3 years ago, I remember some vibrations. I have a written review in Dutch, but a translator is on top of the page (under the cookie message). www.startersmotor.nl/merken/honda/rebel500/cmx500.php hope it helps with your questions.
Suggest to install a windshield if wanna cruising 140-150km/h with proper helmet on this bike. I got my eyes red every Monday morning after 200km ride with this little monster.
i am surprised of how many people dont realize that in most parts of the world going faster than 150 km/h is unthinkable (because of the bad roads) . then you ask why so many accidents occur everyday on breaking news, tv. anyway amazing bike and a very reliable motorcyle.
Many accidents occur not because of speeding (well, also of course when doing that when there it too much traffic on the streets), but most of the times people paying no attention to other traffic. People playing with their smartphones in traffic. If you ride fast, you focus. At least you know what the bike can do and what its cruising speed would be.
@@MotoSnax i guess you are right. if you go faster than everybody else, you have to be very focused unless you want to die. i think i will buy this motorcycle. take care!
It should be no problem with your height but the Rebel 500 is still a small bike. The Kawasaki Vulcan 650 is a little bit bigger. Also has more power and torque.
@@MotoSnax In the European Union. All the states in Europe basically register the top speeds of the vehicle into its technical registration paper. My Honda CB 500 X has 165 km/h
@@Jardanonym Maybe that is new then. It was not there when I did test ride this Rebel. Then again for some bikes I have seen it (as of this year or so) but it was not correct.
How big is your country? If you use the highway then only if you don't ride faster than 110km/h. I'm not really a fan of these types of motorcycles. I like to ride naked bikes or with a small fairing (no supersports). So personally I would say 'nay'. You really should try to rent one and ride it all day to see if it would be good for you to ride it cross country. By the way, if I would ride it cross country, I'd be done in 90-120 minutes at highway speeds. ;)
Haha and people are trying to say their harley is faster! Honda proforms better than specs and I wish people would see that! I own a ninja 250 but the cbr250r will always beat my bike in the city for it's torque.
Some Harleys are probably faster, I'm sure of that. The CBR250R is maybe faster in the city, but not on the highway compared to your Ninja 250. Both bikes are cool.
yeah 12,500rpm but I have an older ninja 250 the one from 1985 to 2007 (mine is the 2007 model) and I don't know if the prevoius owner did all his services so I wanted to play it safe and keep it under 7,500 rpms which is around 90 kph
If you don't know its history, then it might be better to give the bike some service. New oil, valve clearance check etc. because the engine can run a lot of rpms. But it is never bad to be careful if you don't know the history and it hasn't had any service yet.
It will do on interstates, only downside is the riding position. It is hard to ride it at higher speeds (like above 70-75 mph) compared to naked bikes.
hi very good video like subscribed. Can you tell me if this bike is good in city and out of city and if its is cheap on gas or it spend much on gas and if its fit me i am 6 foot 80kg Thank you for your time.
Thanks for the sub! It is a nice bike for in the city and out of the city. On the highway I'd like not to go over 80mph. 6 foot should be no problem, I am 5"11. Check out my review, it is in Dutch, but there is a translater on top (when you click away the cookie notification) www.startersmotor.nl/merken/honda/rebel500/cmx500.php
question is can the rebel 500 do 120kmh for 60miles every day? I'm looking to get one for commuter back/forth to work 60 miles per day with average speed of 65-75mph
120km/h over long distances is no problem for the Rebel 500. Same engine as the CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X. Can do 120km/h easily without letting you think it is almost exploding. ;)
My feeling got hurt after trashing my brand new Harley. If I don’t get this new Harley by next week then I might get one of these. this girl I know is just tying to get rid of it and it would cost me a fraction of the price. I just don’t wanna not have a Harley.
It is easy, but you will just need to get the hang of it. Why don't you buy a 50cc moped with manual transmission and hand clutch to see how it goes? I've learned it on a 50cc moped (Suzuk TS50X) and when I was old enough to take motorcycle riding lessons, I only had to adapt from 2 stroke to 4 stroke and to more power than a moped. It is not that hard and eventually you will do it automatically.
Is it safe enough for running 75-80MPH for almost 2 hours straight? Would it be too high of revs? I'm asking because my brother lives near 2 hours away and the interstate speed limit is 70-75mph but everyone always does 80-85 so I needed to know if it can handle 80ish for 2 solid hours with no harm. Thanks
Those speeds are no problem. The question is if you want to ride 85 mph for 2 hours straight. I didn't find it very comfortable to ride on it over 75 mph (due to wind strength and I am used to naked bikes and riding faster than that on naked bikes). But the engine will not have any problem running those speeds for a long time.
Personally I don't like these custom/chopper type of bikes, because they are harder to manoeuvre compared to naked bikes for instance. Propbably because you don't have an active seating position. So, filtering is possible, but I'd rather do it on a different kind of bike. These bikes are nice for cruising at lower speeds.
Thanks for your reply! I'd be using it for social use and urban commuting so may need to be able to filter just to save time. Do you think its a bit too large for that?
Oh you can still filter, that is no problem. The bike isn't that big. It is just that bikes with a more active seating position are easier to maneuver.
No, won't take any toll on the engine. As the top speed is around 170km/h, 120km/h for a long period is really no problem. Maybe it is tougher on the rider than on the bike, because of the lack of a wind protection versus seating position. It is no fun at all to ride fast on these bikes.
Never mind, I tried it out myself LOL squeezed to 145 km/h in almost a minute... quite tiring from 110 km + now I regret getting a 300 instead of the 500
My wife has been bugging me to get her one...she wants a 300 but I dont think its enough bike for her...mostly me when I decide not to take the street glide out lol...also we are not so little around the middle of you catch my drift I'm 6' 290 lbs (slowly coming down)...she is 5'7" 260 (also coming down)...I test rode a 500 and it had enough power for me but I'm curious how the 300 would fair...it will be her first bike...I'm hopeing she likes riding but just incase she doesnt I would like something for around town
pretend 300cc doesn't exist. not in a macho way. I ride a yamaha fz8 and it's just not necessary in the city. lively highway but I've been considering a rebel 500 for myself for city riding or the short stints to ma and pa's in the city 40 Mins over. the 300 would very easily limit her driving abilities where as the 500 isn't as aggressive or unfriendly as you may think. do the 500 don't even reconsider. I don't even know why it's an option. the rebel 500 is as user friendly as it gets besides a supermoto drz400sm.
Tough choice. Are you able to test ride on both? The Rebel 500 weighs about 190kg, the Vulcan S about 228kg. But the Vulcan has more power and torque... it did like riding both (although you cannot find a video of the Vulcan on my channel). You really need to ride both and decide... as I can't even decide right now! :)
You ride those kinds of bikes just to cruise. So you don't need much horsepower, you need torque. The Vulcan has more torque, but is also 17% heavier. Maybe I'd pick the Rebel 500 as it weighs less and because it has less power, it is cheaper to insure over here.
My 200cc air cooled cruiser is carbureted and can reach a top speed of 130Kph on its 5th gear. Im sure this 500cc bike can do better when it gets modified.
It takes a lot more power to be much more faster at speeds above 160-180km/h. The wind drag is enormous. You won't notice that at 130 km/. Trust me, you don't want to go faster on that Rebel 500.
Performance drops drastically comparing that 110cc single cylinder top speed is around 100 km/h but 1.2L 2 cylinders can only goes like 220 km/h Ofc 1.2L is touring so heavier but I doubt with its weight shredded it will ever get 275 km/h
This bike is not meant for speed but its no sleeper either I mean I get decent pickups, if I roll it she goes, at 170 kmh your dealing with a lot of wind, its hard and uncofortable can´t hold that speed for longer than 5 minutes, I usually cruise from 70km too 100km or 140km in highways and thats about it, and even 140km on a good day will feel like a ton on your chest and head, great video none the less, but for people who are looking for speed this isn't the bike.
@@MotoSnax yeah I did try as well and was actually amazed by the response and speed, I did try the vulcan and wasn't as fast aceleration wise, weight power ratio is better on the rebel, I opted for the rebel cause it was the closest look to the iron 883, the vulcan was plastic looking and feeling.
I did ride on the Vulcan 650 for about half an hour, can't recall if it felt slower than the Rebel 500, as I tried the Rebel 500 one or two years later. It should be a lot faster / have more torque. But maybe because of the weight it doesn't feel like it.
@@MotoSnax because of the weight the rebel picks up speed faster and in the city its more agile, although the vulcan makes up for better long rides, I tried them both with a day or 2 apart they are both nice starters easy to ride very forgiving bikes
Amersfoort81 Oh alright mate, thanks....here in Greece we have both 300 and 500 but there's a difference in the price, the 500 is about 1.000-1.500 dollars more expensive. But which one is better? Which one do you think i should buy? P. S Where do you live btw? 😀
I live in The Netherlands. The 500 has more torque, but on highways you won't go faster than 120-130km/h. Those speeds can also be reached by the 300. I'm not sure if the 300 weighs less, but maybe I'd go for the 300, as riding highway on this bike is not much fun. Too much wind above 120km/h. Also saves you some bucks. Maybe best is to test ride both at the dealership.
Probably 110-120 km/h depening on the wind direction. If you have the wind blast full on your body you will get tired fast at higher speeds compared to for example naked bikes.
Amersfoort81 I see , will I'm looking for sporty/classic style motorcycles with good amount of power between 40 to 60 hp with the automatic transmission for beginners .
Not many sport/classic bikes with automatic transmission. I'm guessing you will need to check out some Honda's with DCT technology. Maybe the NC700 DCT is nice or NC750 DCT.
i feel like getting a cbr250r is better than this. it looks like a sportsbike but it doesn't have the ergonomics. feels more like a tourer. same top speed, and very good wind protection since it's a faired bike. the rebel is better at acceleration but it's only by a small margin.
The fairings help a lot. Riding over 120 km/h on the Rebel 500 is tough to maintain for longer periods. Riding on the freeway on the Rebel 500 compared to a CBR250R, I'd take the CBR every day over the Rebel. The Rebel is for slow cruising.
Essa Rebel 500 top espeed so falta nela 2 escape fica show vai vim para o Brasil quando ela paresse com a H D vou esperar chegar aqui no Brasil (JOSEILDO )
Also for the reply of a Rebel 300 hitting 100mph, that little thumper is obsolete compare to a parallel twin in the R# or ninja. You would be lucky to hit 65, with no wind, tucked, and going down a hill
Ok maybe 100 is too much (unless really down a hill), but 90mph should be no problem. It has the same engine as the CBR300. Ninja 300 or R3 are completely different engines. Also completely different bikes. I prefer the Ninja 300 and R3 above the Rebel, but when testing bikes you gotta ride what they give you and it is not too bad to try other types of bikes. I know I don't like choppers and custom bikes. I like nakeds and super motards best. Or something with a fairing (no real supersports).
My old CB250 will do 75mph + on flat ground (I could get it to break 80, but I don't want to be too hard on the old girl), and it's a 20+ year old bike. The CMX300 makes more power, with better gearing... I'd expect low 90's to be quite realistic (though buzzy). The 500 will do 80+ without even working hard, for as long as your butt will hold out, you run low on fuel, or the wind buffeting wears you out. They're really not geared for more top-end speed - but then again, they're not intended to be land-speed racers. They are intended to be entry-level cruisers/street bikes. FYI - unless you just gotta feed the need for speed, do track days, etc. - the 500 isn't a "starter" bike that you learn some basics on, then rapidly outgrow. It's big enough to be stable at any sane speed, my wife loves ours - and I don't think she'll ever want a bigger, heavier bike.
Exactly. Not built for racing speeds. Above 75mph is no fun on the CMX500. I'm guessing the same for the 300. The riding position is very tiring when you have head wind. I'd rather ride a naked on the highway. CMX is for cruising at lower speeds, enjoying the scenery around you.
First of all nice vid and I've agree with most of your comments. However I would say that it IS fun doing 75mph+ on the CMX500....intermittently. Intermittent being the key word. Not many things can beat hanging on for dear life at those speeds while building upper body strength, neck muscles, and facial muscle from all the grinning. Cheers!
Has to be very hard to hold on the bike at that speed...from 120-130 kms/h its become very hard. Mine is a Yam XT 660 X and reach the same velocity more ore less...
Yeah, no joy there. Only possible on this bike when you have tail wind. If you have wind hitting you from the front, faster than 130km/h can be dangerous. On the XT660X it is easier to maintain higher speeds, although I know that is hard too.
I imagine 100+ octane fuel is available if your in europe, also performance motor oil helps with small engines, this engine has a high-ish compression ratio, your best off using the highest available octane fuel in your area, I say that about just about everything though rebel is no different. Harley davidson wouldnt benefit from it though. Hell most harleys cant tell the difference between whiskey and race gas Are you a heavier rider over 200lbs? I expected this to go around 200kph/124mph with the power it makes, especially considering that yours has a pipe it sounds like.
It'd have to find a gas station that sells 102 octane fuel. I am a little over 200lbs. The exhaust is stock. 35kW most of the times does not go faster than around 180km/h (112mph). Maybe the little 400cc bikes like the Ninja 400 would touch near 200km/h.
That's 105 mph about the same as the old Honda 550four ..... It's fast enough considering that's the top speed for quite a few economy road cars 1994 Chevy S10 would only do about a hundred and five new back in the '90s
honda rebel 500 is desigend for commuting... honda don't want anymore dangerous speed demon on their bikes like this... if you want to be fast, get cbr1000rr and that's the speed demon that will beat top speed demon euro bikes... good luck with that!!!
Nah, the Rebel 500 is better for cruising. For commuting you need an agile bike to split lanes. The seating position is not good for commuting in heavy traffic if you need to lane split. Now I know it is not allowed everywhere, but where it is allowed, for commuting you would like a street bike instead. That said, I just wanted to show the top speed of this bike, not the cruising speed. :)

115 MPH? Not possible. He is probably looking at the specs of the CBR500R with the same engine, but differently tuned.
The guy who gave me false info, and purportedly has "never ridden the 500" does several test rides a day--there were 2 other people test riding the same model. Feel free to schedule a test drive locally, and record it for posterity homie. Armchair experts living in their moms basement are what make the internet so rad.... Cheers bruhv"
Arm chair expert? LOL, whatever. Lets wait for other top speed videos, you clearly can't produce any and I don't know bikes.
love my 2018 reb 500........damn thing is awesome, handles very well for a cruiser
No wind, flat road, got mine to 181kph
Pretty good for a small cruiser, love my rebel
That is really good, but those speeds on a cruiser are so hard to maintain for longer periods.
@@MotoSnax can you elaborate? how long would it last for
@@MotoSnax what do you mean?
@@numbermayhemhe means it makes you tired I guess
This reminds me of the good old days, back when I drove a Gremlin to school. I lived my life a quarter mile at a time. And with four maypops, a driver's side door that would fly open if I took the curve too fast; a hood that would more likely than not fly up at speeds over 50mph, it was an exciting time.
Why did it remind you of your car? Saw parts flying on this bike? ;)
Holy crap I didn't know a rebel could go that fast
I was expecting more out of it actually. :) But these speeds are no fun on a Rebel 500.
remember, that's kmh not mph so it's not really THAT fast.
It's a cruiser so 170kmh is enough.
Me as long as it does 140-150kmh Im happy.
With Olhins shocks, front fork upgrade and better tires the Rebel will be perfect.
Rambo1996100 Now you do...
still going 100mph..
Almost 170 Kms/hour??😱 Fantástico!😍
Fast enough!
@@MotoSnax More than enough, for this kind of bike. As long it speeds up quickly, it's all that matters.
you can remap the ecu if u still need more speed
Just got mine absolutely love it I’m putting the break in miles on it now
Enjoy your Rebel! :)
Just what I thought. My top when I tried it was 104/mph and that was with the wind assisting me. You’d probably have to go downhill if you wanted to hit 120/mph or something.
I don't think 120mph is possible without fairing.
stupid! you are ALWAYS supposed to go downhill when testing top speeds of bikes. Don't you know that? :) jk
Once again, MotoSnax, - brilliant!
Thank you! :)
So 105 mph red lining 5th. Not to bad.
Good video
Put a windscreen on it (and/or go prone), you might get something out of the 6th gear.
The engine sound is great...not too loud jusy right
Not bad for a beginner! Very cool little bike
It also all depends on a persons weight too. i weigh 250 and i topped speed at 93 on my rebel 500
I think it should be able to go faster than that with that weight. This top speed was under ideal circumstances and with wind in the back.
Thank you. Im 245...ish. and i couldnt get it to 86 on my full power run last week. But it cruises at 75-80 pretty ok.
¡Impresionante!
Fast enough! More than enough.
Wow 170 kmph love this bike, gonna buy soon.
did you buy it and if so how is it?
ive been looking on buying it too
good video!
It is faster than I thought.
Thanks! Yeah, faster than most people would like to ride on this bike. :)
140 kmh is good enough to be a cruiser in the city. I think its perfect for a beginner trying to learn. just enough to go on the highway. Nothing more is really needed tbh.
My weight is somewhere in the comments. It is a good beginners cruiser, true that!
Thats actually fast for a 500cc cruiser. Despite not being very aerodynamic that includes the riding position.
Thanks for that. Got a Givi windscreen on my 500cc Rebel, far more comfortable than riding without one. 120 km/h is just fine for me because if I do lots faster than that I can lose my licence followed closely by my job. But thanks for testing it out and sharing.
A windscreen definitely helps. Thanks for watching, I am sure most Rebel 500 owners won't ride this top speed as cruising on it is much better.
Just trying my rebel yesterday and it goes 160kph in 4th gear.
The new Malaysian models look cool.I still miss the old 450 rebel. They should start producing the classic rebel in a 450.
amboi
Thanks MotoSnax.
Subscribing due to this. 😊
Thanks for subscribing! No more Rebel 500 videos though. :) Hope you like the other videos on the channel.
This bike was made for us to enjoy the chill motor driving hehe.. that speed though is it mph or kph?
KPH. And yes, now you know at what speeds you can cruise. I recommend 110-120 km/h max.
100 kph is fast enough at what gear though? As long as I can use it in the expressway that's enough. Here in the Philippines 400cc and above are the only vehicles that are expressway legal hahah
In 6th gear. Too bad that they don't allow 250/300cc on the expressway!
@@MotoSnax oke bedankt
Didn't expect that 500cc engine could only reach 180 Kph, but even CBR500R top speed is just as much
Hard to ride the Rebel at those speeds. CBR500R is much easier because of the seating position and fairing. Rebel 500's cruising speed is about 115-120 km/h. No more than that.
How that it handle at high speed ? feel stable or have a lot of vibrations, shakes or moves with the wind ?
Above 130 km/h it sucks on probably any cruiser, if you ask me. It has been 3 years ago, I remember some vibrations. I have a written review in Dutch, but a translator is on top of the page (under the cookie message). www.startersmotor.nl/merken/honda/rebel500/cmx500.php hope it helps with your questions.
Suggest to install a windshield if wanna cruising 140-150km/h with proper helmet on this bike. I got my eyes red every Monday morning after 200km ride with this little monster.
With a proper windshield those cruising speeds are no problem indeed.
i am surprised of how many people dont realize that in most parts of the world going faster than 150 km/h is unthinkable (because of the bad roads) . then you ask why so many accidents occur everyday on breaking news, tv. anyway amazing bike and a very reliable motorcyle.
Many accidents occur not because of speeding (well, also of course when doing that when there it too much traffic on the streets), but most of the times people paying no attention to other traffic. People playing with their smartphones in traffic. If you ride fast, you focus. At least you know what the bike can do and what its cruising speed would be.
@@MotoSnax i guess you are right. if you go faster than everybody else, you have to be very focused unless you want to die. i think i will buy this motorcycle. take care!
You don't want to ride fast on this bke. Cruising at 110-120 km/h or maybe a little bit faster is good enough. Riding fast on any custom sucks.
Appreciate this video!! More than enough for me lol
Thanks for watching. Anything above 130 km/h (80 mph) on this bike is too much.
@@MotoSnax I'm only 80kg (176 lbs) so windy days on the hwy might be interesting 😂
You'll manage. But the seating position is not for speeding. :)
My speeding days are long gone. Getting older now so just wana enjoy the cruise! 👍 Thanx mate
Gorgeous bike
100km/u faster than my honda camino in 98'
Im 6 foot 1. Could this bike be for me? If not, what other bike would you suggest that is similar in terms of style and size?
It should be no problem with your height but the Rebel 500 is still a small bike. The Kawasaki Vulcan 650 is a little bit bigger. Also has more power and torque.
Nice. The top speed listed in my registration certificate is 155 km/h.
Where do you live? I just wonder, because we don't have top speeds registered in the papers of the bike.
@@MotoSnax In the European Union. All the states in Europe basically register the top speeds of the vehicle into its technical registration paper.
My Honda CB 500 X has 165 km/h
@@Jardanonym Maybe that is new then. It was not there when I did test ride this Rebel. Then again for some bikes I have seen it (as of this year or so) but it was not correct.
you need to push the maximum in 5th gear, 6th is just for release pressure
What do you think about traveling long distance (cross country) with this bike yay or nay?
My engine revs so high I'm afraid that it will blow up I'm at 8k on the highway is that safe?
The Ninja 250 can make a lot more rpms. And it has a rev limiter, so rev it! :) I think the red line starts around 12k rpm?
yeah 12,500rpm but I have an older ninja 250 the one from 1985 to 2007 (mine is the 2007 model) and I don't know if the prevoius owner did all his services so I wanted to play it safe and keep it under 7,500 rpms which is around 90 kph
If you don't know its history, then it might be better to give the bike some service. New oil, valve clearance check etc. because the engine can run a lot of rpms. But it is never bad to be careful if you don't know the history and it hasn't had any service yet.
Would it be recommended for interstates? Or do the rpms rest too high
It will do on interstates, only downside is the riding position. It is hard to ride it at higher speeds (like above 70-75 mph) compared to naked bikes.
I got mine around 182kph, but I dont need it though. 0-120kph at a shorter time was enough.
With bikes like this you don't want to ride too much highways/freeways.
Life is in your hand
Buena maquina 👍 mi suegro tiene una y es un lujo
hi very good video like subscribed.
120 km/h is enough..
For this type of bike, I agree.
nah too slow
question is can the rebel 500 do 120kmh for 60miles every day? I'm looking to get one for commuter back/forth to work 60 miles per day with average speed of 65-75mph
120km/h over long distances is no problem for the Rebel 500. Same engine as the CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X. Can do 120km/h easily without letting you think it is almost exploding. ;)
With a max speed of 110 plus, you cand definitely "cruise" at 75-90 every day, with no fear man
Price ?
Power?
My feeling got hurt after trashing my brand new Harley. If I don’t get this new Harley by next week then I might get one of these. this girl I know is just tying to get rid of it and it would cost me a fraction of the price. I just don’t wanna not have a Harley.
Buy the Honda. If you don't like it, buy Harley again. You pay for the name. Honda might be more reliable. :)
Is manual easy for bikes because I started on a 50cc now I’m at 150 and want the 300 or 500 rebel
Hi i only can hit 160kmh.... When going downcline only can reach 170kmh...and my bike is new tell me what to do?
Nothing, it is fine. 170 in the video is slightly downhill. Just a few percent. You don't want to go over 130km/h on this bike anyway.
have a 1983 nighthawk 16 000 miles on it had up to 112 mph ya fun
What displacement? Nice low mileage!
Heeft de rebel een gear indicator? Laat het zien in welke versnelling je zit
Nee, geen gear indicator. Misschien past er eentje van een third party bedrijf zoals GiPro.
But the engine will not have any problem running those speeds for a long time.
a good bullet fairing could help while not detracting from the bobber look
I ride a 1985 rebel 250 stock and average 70-85 on highway . Yes u can ride it for 2hrs but I'd suggest stopping for about 30 atleast 1x
your brother should probably get a helicopter. Just use the bike for milk runs, etc.
I did this today 140kmh and the wind is so strong my hand are so tired.
Above 130km/h is no fun anymore on this type of bike. :) Saves you a lot of traffic tickets.
Is it fairly easy to filter through traffic on? or is it cumbersome to manoeuvre?
Does it take too much of a toll on the engine to ride this bike on the Autobahn/Snelweg at 110-120 km/h for a little trip (around 2 hours)?
No, won't take any toll on the engine. As the top speed is around 170km/h, 120km/h for a long period is really no problem. Maybe it is tougher on the rider than on the bike, because of the lack of a wind protection versus seating position. It is no fun at all to ride fast on these bikes.
Amersfoort81 Dankjewel! Now I will definitely buy this bike!
Is this stock bike without any mods ?
This one is stock, yes.
Can you do a video on top speed for Rebel 300 ?
Sorry, no Rebel 300's are sold over here.
Never mind, I tried it out myself LOL
squeezed to 145 km/h in almost a minute... quite tiring from 110 km +
now I regret getting a 300 instead of the 500
I got up to 95 on my 2017 Rebel 300.
Its a cruiser, 150km/h is ok. If you want speed, buy a 1200 sport bike.
Correct. Even 150 km/h is too much.
Forget the 300cc, just go for the 500cc.
pretend 300cc doesn't exist. not in a macho way.
How about on the highway every day 70 mph 20 miles hows the engine run
Should be a walk in the park.
QUESTION!
I want the 500 in red BUT the kawasaki vulcan s 650 is good too.....what do you lot think?
Tough choice. Are you able to test ride on both? The Rebel 500 weighs about 190kg, the Vulcan S about 228kg. But the Vulcan has more power and torque... it did like riding both (although you cannot find a video of the Vulcan on my channel). You really need to ride both and decide... as I can't even decide right now! :)
@@MotoSnax I will test ride both but everyone's saying it's a tough choice
Performance drops drastically comparing that 110cc single cylinder top speed is around 100 km/h but 1.2L 2 cylinders can only goes like 220 km/h
Ofc 1.2L is touring so heavier but I doubt with its weight shredded it will ever get 275 km/h
This bike is not meant for speed but its no sleeper either I mean I get decent pickups, if I roll it she goes, at 170 kmh your dealing with a lot of wind, its hard and uncofortable can´t hold that speed for longer than 5 minutes, I usually cruise from 70km too 100km or 140km in highways and thats about it, and even 140km on a good day will feel like a ton on your chest and head,
great video none the less, but for people who are looking for speed this isn't the bike.
This is a pretty good cruiser bike, not for speeding. But I just had to know.
That exhaust is stock??
Yep
Hey man, do you know the Honda rebel 300 top speed? If this is around 165 then I'm guessing the 300 is around 100-125?
No, we don't have the 300 over here. It would not sell. This is 600cc+ country. :) The 500 does 106mph, I'm guessing the 300 would be around 93-95mph.
Amersfoort81 Thanks for the info mate, really appreciate it 👍
Wait dafuq how u goin 170 😂
It is KMH. What do you reach?
Stock or customized bike?
Stock.
Whats best cruising speed?
Probably 110-120 km/h depening on the wind direction. If you have the wind blast full on your body you will get tired fast at higher speeds compared to for example naked bikes.
hi I'm new for motorcycles so does this rebel transmission comes as automatic & is it available on the 300 too ?
For as far as I know, there are no DCT plants for the Rebel 300 and 500. So you will have to shift gears yourself.
Amersfoort81 will I don't need only Honda if you know other brands with the same price of the rebel 300 & 500 that would be good too
I don't know other brands with full automatic gears like Honda's DCT. As you don't want to ride a motorscooter, you don't have many options.
For someone over 6f is this any good?
I'd look for something bigger. The Rebel 500 is a small custom bike.
i feel like getting a cbr250r is better than this. it looks like a sportsbike but it doesn't have the ergonomics. feels more like a tourer. same top speed, and very good wind protection since it's a faired bike. the rebel is better at acceleration but it's only by a small margin.
This 500cc has more torque -> it pulls harder to top speed.
i agree, it does have more torque and accelerates better but the fairings help a lot against wind blast, that's why i prefer the cbr.
こんにちは日本でレブル500乗ってます。
170km/hしか出ないのですね。
Fast enough!
I agree !!!
Cheers!
Verry good.
I can go 140km/h on mine no problem. Gets a little uncomfortable on windy days but it's fine otherwise
Almost the same as cb300r. That go a bit after 160km/h with less than 300cc and 31hp.
But the 300 has less torque.
Any idea what GPS will show....?
Probably 5-8% less.
I think this bike could go a bit faster with a sub 180 pound rider.
Probably any bike. Unless it is all down hill, then extra weight might help. :)
Hell most harleys cant tell the difference between whiskey and race gas
Are you a heavier rider over 200lbs?
Most of the time you won't go over 80 mph with this bike as it is just not relaxed anymore above that.
140kmh is enough for a cruiser bike i never reached 120 always 80 kmh
That can not be correct, at 140 and your not passing everything on the road. I'll said you were at 115 at top.
You are aware that this is in metric?
Lol i finally reach 171kmh with this bike on a highway....wind resistance and weight is the key..usually topped at 160
I don't like it over 130km/h compared to other types of bikes. This is really for cruising.
What is that green light flashing on the gauge panel?
Indicator light
@@MotoSnax ow, hehehe... Will pick up our Rebel this weekend.
honda rebel 500 is desigend for commuting... honda don't want anymore dangerous speed demon on their bikes like this... if you want to be fast, get cbr1000rr and that's the speed demon that will beat top speed demon euro bikes... good luck with that!!!
How much did you weigh at this time
Kaylon Clement I don't remember. Probably around 95kg or so.
Argument settled.
