If the game uses more than 16gb ram the devs are bad !!!!!

      partially true
as games get more complicated ofcourse the amount of ram needed will keep increasing.
who know magbe 32 GB ram will be a must in 8 years or earlier

More RAM helps with stutter fixing. I noticed that years ago, when comparing 4 to 8 on videos, I didn't know why people thought RAM would mean more fps. Im upgrading from 8 and have been using it for like 4 years. Its best to get used. I get all my parts cheap and in good condition.

i vaguely recall gamers nexus testing two vs. four sticks of the same total amount of ram, but can't remember whether this made a more than negligible difference - i think that there was more variation between single and dual rank kits (which was also small enough it made no 'real world' difference iirc)

I feel like these games your playing are using way more ram than they use for me. I know you have the settings maxed out but I typically do the same and I never see ram usage quite that high

Good video. Ram is very cheap these days. Just put in 32gb. I got a 64gb 3200 kit for $99 Cdn on sale, not the best gaming ram but it's great for an office pc.

RAM is not just quantity. It's a mix between the CPU cache quantity, the quantity of ram, the type of memory (DDR3, DDR4, DDR5) and platform, and speed timmings of it. I've noticed a few games that were having some slight micro stutterings with 16GB DDR4 3600mhz CL18, and my 5600x, but when i got my 5700x3d with more cache (and my memory finaly works at CL16-16-16), that stuttering is all gone in all games i've tested. So it's not just quantity... for example if you go from a 16gb 3600CL16-16-16 to a 32gb 18-19-19 with a 5600x, you are probably having less performance, not an upgrade...

    My short answer: No.
    My long answer:
It depends on what you do, what games you play, and what software you use.
For older AAA games, some eSports titles, and some well-optimized new AAA games, 16 GB is still enough.
An example of a poor optimized game that becomes unplayable with 16GB RAM is Warzone 2.0.
But at the price, 32GB is selling, it is dumb af to build with only 16GB.

I'm super inefficient in how I use my PC. I don't close my browser tabs and I leave discord on in the background. I also know that Windows is a bloated OS and there could be background processes going on like virus scans and updates. DDR4 these days is cheap so I went with a 32GB 3600 GSkill kit. If anything, the only regret I have is not going 64GB originally when I did my build last year.

If i dont plan to play much, except for non demanding games, or retro, and use my laptop for illustrator and photoshop, is 16 enough? I ask because the laptop im looking at won’t let me upgrade later on.

Yes, 16 is enough as long as you’re not working with large video files. If you’re working on videos that are 10 minutes or longer, you will need more RAM.

Hey man, I’m really confused whether to get one of two different laptops. I will list the specs below and I’d really appreciate it if you can give me your opinion on which I should get:
    Zephyrus g14:
    14” display.
    OLED 3K 120 Hz
    Ryzen 9 8945HS
    32 GB RAM
    GeForce RTX 4070
    1 TB SSD
    Zephyrus G16:
    16” display.
    OLED 2.5K 240 Hz
    Intel Core Ultra 9
    16 GB RAM
    GeForce RTX 4070
    1 TB SSD
Please keep in mind that the ram in these laptops is soldered in so I don’t have the option to upgrade it later on.
What I really want is the G16. I really want the larger display (since it’ll be the only display I’ll have) and the dark grey color it comes in (unlike the g14 which only comes in a white color). It also has a higher refresh rate, and a better CPU. Everything about it is better…except for the ram.
I’m worried that I’ll face problems with the RAM in the long run since I’m planning on keeping this laptop for atleast 5 years.
I’m getting this for some gaming (mainly games such as COD, GTA, and some others) in addition to school work (which won’t be demanding). I like everything about the G16 more except for obviously the ram. Do you think this difference in ram is worth me choosing the g14 instead?

@@supbro2328 I got the 16gb one and it’s amazing. I totally recommend especially if u want the 16 inch screen. The oled screen is perfect and I don’t think burn in is that much of a problem in modern devices. So far the 16gb is working really well and I haven’t been in a situation where I’ve needed more. I’ll see how it holds up in the next few weeks. It does get a bit hot tho but that’s not much of a problem for me.
