I'm actually genuinely surprised that Leon and Salazar's "script" exchange is still in this game.

Most of their old dialogue is actually still in the game in one form or another, either through achievements or another one of their conversations through the loudspeakers across the castle.
The nods to the original are endless and they fit them perfectly in this one.
Putting it in the boss fight instead of some casual conversation over the radio was probably the best thing they could’ve done with that dialogue.
This dialogue was funny in the original because of how cheesy it was, but I'm not sure if I like seeing it in the remake.
I like how leon wasted no time shooting him in the beginning 😂

This remake was a ton of fun and i just love how they made Leon 110% DONE with the villain tropes he’s subjected to in this game as he just straight up shoots Salazar multiple times during his big speech. But honestly the most impressive thing about this remake is how they changed up and even improved the boss battles while keeping several elements to the OG bosses.
I’d call it ONE OF the most impressive, cause if I had to make a countdown on the biggest improvements for this remake (from most to least going down):
1. Scrapped QTEs
2. Controllable Camera
3. Ashley’s Revamped AI & Characterization
4. Combat/Parrying/Stealth Mechanics
5. Various Charms
6. *Improved Boss Fights*
7. Fleshed-Out Storytelling
8. The Merchant’s Sidequests
9. Darker Atmosphere/Setting
(Don’t get me wrong; the bosses certainly DO improve the remake, but my Top Five were just bigger blessings in comparison)

Honestly, this mutated transformation being his own form makes sense. In the og, I always wondered if Salazar was injected with a dominant plaga, why did he merge with the Plaga Queen?
Maybe Salazar in the original game merged with the queen Plaga because he doubted that his mutated form on it's own would be enough to kill Leon.
My thoughts are that even with a dominant plaga he knew he wouldnt be enough. If Mendez wasnt enough theres no way he would have been enough on his own.
I think he used the Queen Plaga so he could fuse/merge with the Verdugo
I always wondered what would the dude do if he killed Leon? Just sit there stuck to a wall for the rest of his life?
@@DBCooper01 Probably haha, at that point I feel like merging with the queen plaga was a last resort, he probably didnt want to but knew Leon would probably kill him otherwise. He’d rather kill Leon and be stuck to the wall for the rest of his life than to fail Saddler. Saddler probably told him to do whatever it takes to kill Leon or die trying. I dont think Salazar would have been able to go back to human form afterwards but who knows.
This boss fight was actually so hard
It wasn’t dying that bothered me, it was the way you could hardly land a hit and got 0 openings and then you would die. Really pissed me off 😂
I hit him with an RPG the first few seconds in, it killed him and got the No Thanks Bro haha

@@gs32621 I first timed Mendez, but struggled with the speed of Salazar, loads of people got repeatedly decked by Mendez, maybe you’re right, I just felt the mechanics of that fight were difficult compared to Mendez.
@Liam Wright I quickly learned not to stay still and always run around in circles around the pillar between the upper and lower platform to stay in cover. Every opening to shoot him is always after he spits the black acid, he stays still for a few seconds before he speeds off.
Original Salazar: whimpers when his hand got impaled
Remake Salazar: utterly pissed off when he gets shot

This fight surpassed my expectations by far. I expected it to be like the original, with maybe a few new additions, but they changed it completely and I love it. I loved Leon and Ramon's exchanges, and how this game gave a lot more depth to Ramon, even though he got barely any screentime. You can tell he's lived a very sad and insecure life, and he's projecting all of that onto Leon during this fight.
Um no if you read the notes in the castle Ramon had displayed signs of being a psychopath long before he met Saddler or got infected. He burned one of his servants face off with acid after she disicplined him for being bad. He was already cruel and sadistic as a child which made it easier for Saddler to brainwash him 😅

Personally the original fight was just too easy. If you had a rocket launcher the fight would be over in like 5 seconds. I like that because it's a moving target you don't get off that easy anymore
The music in this game is so good especially in this fight. I love how it's like an epic evil version of classical music

What's there is good but there's just not enough. I don't understand why just like RE2 they went with mostly ambience. The series is known for its amazing soundtrack and if there's one thing everyone can agree about RE3 is that it's soundtrack was amazing.

How they reworked Leon's and Ramon's dialogue in the fight itself rather than the radio. I really liked how they reworked Salazar.

I was definitely NOT expecting Salazar to be able to move, but it did make the fight much more tense.
I like that because it's not as easy as the original anymore. The original was just so easy cuz you go in with a broken butterfly and a rocket launcher the fight is over in five seconds
This boss fight crushed my soul. Like 5 attempts, and each time, I was at least 5-10 minutes into the fight. A real pace killer after the awesome mine cart and clock tower sections.
I also did not expect such complexity. He died 6 times before he could defeat him (And for most of the battle I did not understand what was happening, I ran in circles and this monster somehow managed to devour Leon. I am discouraged.

He had one objective, he didnt care about the rest lol.
For hardcore players : at the start of the battle, use an explosive bolt, Ramon will fall instantly, get close and fire 3 shotgun shells, finish with the scripted knife attack, rince and repeat 4 to 5 times. The best way to land an explosive bolt : stay close to the stairs with the pillar and bait Ramon to use his spitting attack.
Or bring a Golden egg

I prefer the magnum, I was able to 3 cycle him on hardcore

1:20 I love how they cleverly incorporating some of the dialogue from the OG radio's transmission into this one, although it would be hard to notice or distracting (if you're too focus on the fight) but it's such a nice touch for a comeback

Im still not liking on how they changed Salazar's human look but woah, I do admit I actually enjoyed watching his boss fight more, seems like a fun match to play in, it's more threatening compared to the OG where he mostly stucked on the wall like a wallflower so that's definitely a step up on his side.

@@jerryapice1762 I completely disagree. The voice actors are a downgrade. Probably my only real complaint about the game. Krauser and Ada got it worse but Leon, Saddler, Salazar etc etc all sounded better and more memorable in the original. Who could forget Leon's iconic lines? Now he says the typical generic dialogue like "are you kidding me" "what the fuck" "oh shit" and all that crap. I'm not saying that the original dialogue was Shakespeare but at least it was memorable and quotable.
They Make Ramon Salazar mutated instantly like Irving does in RE5 instead of Merging with Queen Plaga.
Capwoke fired all the competent employees to make up for the ethics department. Notice how Mendez no longer transforms either and he just swaps models.
Seems like a big downgrade compared to the original idea

This isn't a gimmick fight how? He literally has gimmicks on top of gimmicks here. He zips around the room, plants acid gunk sensor mines, spits gunk out at you constantly with hardly any time to shoot, and last but certainly not least retains his instant kill move. Honestly, he was the most annoying and time-consuming boss fight in this remake without the rocket launcher.

The nods to the OG and the replacement of dialogue texts have been the best thing I've seen in a remake.
I think that for his older look in this game, this form of boss fight is better. If he were younger i would understand doing again fusing with Queen cuz it would be understandable he doesnt feel confident to fight Leon on his own but here i think his own mutation suits him better.
As the other commenters said. We didn't saw the left hand of Salazar merging to him bcoz Ada's fighting the queen plaga. I hope capcom is plotting this to separate ways.

What if the second Verdugo goes after Ada in separate ways and mutates into the giant snake monstrosity we see in the original. It would be nice if he mutates in separate ways and retreats to Salazar. That way they might actually fuse since Salazar can conceal himself in his form. We could actually see the old mutated form again. Just in separate ways
I would love that, but I think Ada arrives too quick to the motor boat.
I think its pretty much cemented that U-3 and verdugo #2 will be in separate ways. The original seperate ways didnt really have any exclusive bosses, it would be nice to see her fight different enemies and bosses instead of just a randomizer like the OG.

@raydhen8840 that makes me wonder if there is more than one iteration of the verdugo? I know both the classic verdugo and U-3 are reptile/insect/human hybrids, so maybe they are related in some way. I would assume U-II counts for both verdugo henchmen, U-I accoounts for all novistador, and U-3 for transformed? Verdugo.

One thing about Salazar in the remake that's confused me is his transformation. In the original he had two Verdugo guards, one you kill in the sewers & one that he transforms with. In this one, unless I've completely missed it, where did the second one go? You kill the one in the sewer still obviously but what happened to the second one? Is it just me or did he just completely vanish lmao. Unless this is his him merging with the other one but he wasn't even on screen?
People are excpecting him to show up in separate ways, just as U3

Can confirm, haha, I spent hours attempting to kill him. Was pretty satisfying once I finally got him though, gotta say.
If you throw a mine in his face using the bolt thrower at the very beginning, you can skip the whole first part of the fight
This boss fight was too frustrating... The original RE4 is one of the only games I've gotten 100% completion on, and yet this new game is making me look like I've never touched a controller. I'm only up to "Standard" mode and I just couldn't kill this guy. Even after putting eight magnum bullets into him, a couple rifle shots, and three eye-gouges...he just. Wouldn't. DIE. Not to mention every time I started getting the hang of the fight, he'd whip out the instant-kill. Sometimes his very first move would be the instant-kill. I got so frustrated I finally just pelted him with the Golden Egg. But sheesh...if I did so bad against him, I can only imagine how bad Saddler is. And here I thought I was ready for "Hardcore"...
I'm playing hardcore right now AND O M G this fight is hard as hell! The sad part is that I sold the golden egg already :[
They sinned a lot by not showing the bosses transforming themselves as in the original. They simply cut the scene and they appear as "monsters".

I dont think its that easy to show their transformation, like damn how gruesome that would be. Also they have to think about Chinese market where these mutations animations wouldnt probably go through without getting a lot of censory.
They also did that a lot in re8, dimitrescu transformed behind a wall, that fish guy transformed underwater

Bruh this fight on hardcore and professional was a bitch and a half without the golden egg. It’s not him not giving you an opening that made it hard, it’s the fact he has like 5-6 phases before he finally goes down.

It was remarkable to see Salazar looking like a child. Was it so hard to keep JUST his face looking like the original childish one instead of turning him into a 90 year old lady?
I feel like it would have been better if they used Macaulay Culkins face model for him, therefore he kinda would have looked like Kevin from home alone, I think that would have been better
He was always supposed to look old, Leon even called him an old man in the original and Salazar had to correct him and say he was actually in his 20s. It's just the technology back then didn't show that well.

@@217adaptiveperspective Technology didn't seem to be an issue, as they were able to make Saddler and Bitores have very aged faces in the original, even adding wrinkles to Bitores.

I died like 14 times on this fight then said fuck it and bought the rocket lmaoooo
I was actually waiting to see if Leon would throw his knife into Ramon's hand again, but shooting him seems more... satisfying.
I liked this version of the Salazar boss fight compared to the original. Another thing I thought was cool was that he reminds me of the Plantera bossfight from Terreria, much more challenging and versatile than the original Re4!
Notice how the other verdugo is never present in this scene and does not show up at all after the first verdugo fight? Makes we wonder if in separate ways Ada has to kill the other verdugo
I like when bosses have pattern to figure out how to beat them, and then challenging to execute. This boss and most boss in the game doesnt do that.
I didnt know what this guys pattern was but i feel i found a cheese method. If you circle around one of the pillars that split the stairway, with the platform above to hide from any falling acid rain, you can avoid all of this guys attack just running in circles. And when the guy shoots his black acid, hide behind the pillar and shoot his temporary opened weak spot. Get him down, run and knife him do it 3 times and then done.
