Summary: Hold down the rest button for 7 blinks or more. Might be able to do less but I know that one blink is NOT enough to reset the settings on it.
Thank goodness for this!! I had purchased a second hand unit and it was registered to previous owner. Tried to reset but hadn't realised my simple mistake. Couldn't find an answer until this. Once done easy. Thanks
Very glad to have helped :) (And reduced e-waste!).
Believe it or not. 3rd video to reset. Thank you for making it easy! None of them mentioned the 7 blinks
Thanks for taking the time to comment and say so. I'm not entirely sure on the timing but I know for a fact 7 blinks did it. It might take less than that but I do know that just tapping the reset button doesn't clear the settings :)
Thank you, i've been pressing the reset button for various lengths of time all day, didn't realise it had to be plugged in to reset.🙃🤣😂
:) now you know
Information was spot on as was the tone of delivery. Thanks and good luck with RUclips.
Thank you for the thanks; it makes a difference to my day!
Thank you! Very helpful! Couldn't figure out how to reset. Info was not in the instructions!
Happy to have helped :)

Thanks so much. After trying to follow there terrible instructions and horrible website I was not in the mood to return this thing
If you still have issues copy and paste the ip address from the extender in the web site bar. The ip address starts with 192

Hi its not working plz I need a help I’m from UAE and I have the same Netgear
I'm not sure I can help much more. If you can't see it's WiFi after factory resetting then it's probably broken :(
Can it be unplugged and moved to a different room without a new setup?
As long as it is within range of the wifi point it is repeating, you can move it once you've configured it. I often set them up next to the router so I know they work and then move them around and test them in different places thereafter.
I have same Netgear router but it's not turning on it doesn't show any light on it
Other than making sure the wall outlet works for other stuff.. sounds like it might be faulty and needs replacing. Buy something much newer though this time!
@@freename but it's a new router and it's not turning on and I replaced the wall outlet also
If you bought it new and it isn't doing anything in any of your power sockets then it needs returning. It's also an old device so I'd recommend not getting it replaced. Use the money back to buy something much more modern and "mesh" if you can.
@@freename but I use this router earlier also but it's not working today
Thank you for this. Please can you tell me if I’m able to change the password so no one else in the house can log on to my extender? I live in a house share and don’t want to buy another one if I can change password on this one
Password for the WiFi. Pretty sure you can if you go to it's admin interface. Look for the Netgear repeater on your routers DHCP list or try the www.mywifiext.net/ page
What if the power light is solid amber and never turns green?
1) Check that nothing is stuck holding down the reset button?
2) It is probably faulty - replace under warranty or replace with a new different one if not under warranty.
I can’t get the genie website to pop up when I try setting it up , any tips?
What IP and gateway shows on your computer? Have you accidentally set a static IP on the computer?
I have followed all the steps but its keep saying wrong password. Can you help me with that?
thx
Thanks for the thanks :)
How can I fix if the router is flashing red pls help
Have you tried setting it up again from the beginning? And is it within range of your main router?
My don’t want to work idk I did everything in RUclips
What happens?
No way to do it from a phone ?
Maybe if you know the extenders IP and web admin login.
@@freename the only laptop I have is a Chromebook , I think I'll just have to buy a new one , I'm just trying to get wi-fi out to my garage , and the Netgear was here when I bought the house and it's password protected I reset it but cant do much more lol
@@bryanjones14 Oh I see.. you have already reset it.. when you asked "do it from a phone" I assumed you mean the reset process this video is about. If you have already reset it - just connect to it using a phone, tablet or even your chromebook and then it should "require you to sign in", click that option and you should be at the setup wizard.
If not.. try visiting www.mywifiext.net when connected to the extender wifi name.
First! lol
