Other than that, simon did devote his time to find a way to save Betty. She did not choose to become golb, it happened indirectly because she was responsible for summoning him in the first place. Your definition of toxic is not correct here, it was partially unhealthy but nothing that couldnt be fixed. Season 2 is on the way - there is still time to make this right. We dont know what happened to Betty, although she most likely is gone.

There’s something so sweet yet somber about Betty viewing Simon as a “wonderful experience”. To be made infinite and to still have the capacity to look at Simon as someone worth having for such a comparatively brief moment, it’s heartbreaking.
I started watching adventure time with my mom and we got to the first fionna and cake episode and she liked that one, a few days later she died and I really with we could’ve gotten to watch this show together

Not gonna lie, I feel this on a personal level. I may not have a partner, but I did had someone who I would consider a close friend. It hurts even more when looking back our previous conversations, I felt like I've taken her for granted. I'm not sure if I've done a good job in supporting her the same way she has supported me. At least we didn't end off in bad terms though. She's just taking a long break from social media, and I'm happy for her for that, but I'm also sad that we may not be as close as we used to. I knew that some day, we'd slowly drift away from each other, but I never expected this to hurt this bad.
Honestly I think this is a really realistic ending. They’re not together but they’re also not off on bad terms, because sometimes in life you just lose people, you grow apart, move away or just change and that’s not a bad thing because you still loved that person and now you get to love new people.
In retrospect, it is genius. To Golbetty, it is just an experience in a library of infinity. Every book in the library as sad if not sadder than what Simon went through.
