    They live on the wing for nine months of the year, sleeping on the wing, swooping down to grab fish to feed themselves, before returning to where they were born to mate, spending the other three months of the year rearing their young from their one egg. They mate for life. if one of the partnership does not return in a breeding season then the other will never mate again.
    The Great Wandering Albatross, greatest bird on this planet.

  • @ysonline

    Technically if you stretched your arms upwards and stood on your toes it wouldn't be a huge difference. But if you both didn't use your arms or wings the bird would be tiny as. Make fair measurements.

  • @ozzieedwards143
    @ozzieedwards143 7 лет назад +4

    They are the largest sea bird and they have the largest wingspan of any bird....but the Andean and California condors are the largest flying birds in the world.

      Robbie Clipperton True..can't argue with that.

    • @nznick9033
      @nznick9033 6 лет назад +1

      That said - weight is the standard used when animals are different shapes. If you have to get down to a decision between the two then more mass really means larger. I was taught at school that albatross are the worlds biggest flying birds but if the condor is heavier then it's also bigger.

    • @argsgsgsgnngndg9894
      @argsgsgsgnngndg9894 5 лет назад +1

      the albatross has the widest wingspan, the condor is the heaviest

    • @zombieat
      @zombieat 5 лет назад

      @@argsgsgsgnngndg9894 the largest wingspan belongs to the wandering albatross at 3.7m. but the heaviest flying animal is the domestic turkey/wild turkey at 39kg.

  • @893263007
    @893263007 4 года назад

    Wrong, the largest flying bird is the Kori or Great bustard
    . By weight. Albatross only has a large wingspan. Trumpeter and mute swans are also heavier on average.

    • @michaelanderson7715
      @michaelanderson7715 3 года назад +1

      The video states 'largest', a nonspecific measure (a). You _do_ specify a measure for largest; weight (b). The 2 are SEPARATE, different things.
      (a) To qualify and define 'largest' means factoring in aspects of the term; span, length, height, weight etc. A far more complex problem than...
      (b) 'largest by weight' uses 1 measure alone and does not necessarily align with largest overall
      ---------------
      note; I'm not stating an answer, just drawing your attention to distinctions
