I'm firmly in the camp that this is a sacred song that is not cover-able because the artist will jet screw it up. Then Manson did his, and I dare say it's better than the original by a slight margin. SSPU did an excellent job here as well. That acoustic bass was dialed in and sound f-ing amazing!
I cover this. He is a bit nasally. I know that’s his natural voice, but it just is. I can match pitch with Gerard McMahon, perfectly, so my own version, isn’t a far departure. I just ad a little more growl on the bass end, with an overtone technique. Makes it’s much more full spectrum, when mixed with just my acoustic.
