    Motorola will sell you a copy of the programming software if you are a licensed ham and you need to program it for wide band coverage before the narrowband stuff came into law. You have to declare and prove you are a licensed ham by probably sending in a copy of your ham license.
    Yup it’s a good practice to clean up these units that have been in the dirt for a while. Hopefully each module is sealed against ingress of dust and dirt.
    This kinda reminds me of a modern day Desktrac repeater. Are these power supplies dual voltage for use in 220 volt countries?

      I have both a Motorola business and personal account. I have the wide band entitlement. You have to take the training first. This one wasn't to dirty. Thanks for the comment.

      I haven’t had any luck finding any information about being able to buy the programming software from Motorola as a ham. Every Google search link I’ve come across seems to land me at a spot that wants me to have or create a business account with Motorola before I can go any further; and I don’t have a business license number, which (at least in the links/sites I’ve found) I don’t have.
      Subgunman, if you know where to find the correct Motorola site to sign up to buy the software as a ham/non-business customer, and can share that; I’d really appreciate it.

      You can setup an account with Motorola pretty easily. I have a business account and a personal account. Just give them a call and let them know you want to open up a customer account. On a couple of pages on the site, it directs Ham Radio operators to open a customer account. BTW. They no longer charge for CPS software.

      @@Darrell_CoquilletteOh. That’s good to know.
      Clearly I have not been finding the most current info in my Google searches.
      I’ll wait until after the new year; and try a few phone numbers. For some reason, I think nowadays nobody wants to talk on the phone and everyone wants stuff done online.
      Maybe old school phone calls are more productive! 👍

    I'm wanting to get a Motorola repeater for AllStar, your videos are very informative and easy to understand. Thank you for the info, I'm sure it will come in handy when I eventually get one. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!

      Building that project sounds like fun. Our club repeater uses an off site AllStar link over RF. So the AllStar board is connected to the transceiver and talks to the repeater like a mobile. It's about 15 or so miles from the repeater site. Thanks for the comment and keep me updated if you build this. Thanks again and 73.

    Id change the fans too 🤔

    • @Darrell_Coquillette
      @Darrell_Coquillette  7 дней назад

      Can you believe Motorola lists the fan as discontinued. But I can find an after market fan online for it. That power supply fan needs cleaning or replacement. I just take them apart and clean and oil them and they keep on ticking. Thanks for the comment.

    Another very enjoyable video! Glad I found your channel and subscribed.
    While it’s not the topic of the video, it was cool to see the 6 meter duplexers behind you.
    I’d never really thought about how physically big those would have to be. It makes sense, but I’d never seen any in person.
    Looking forward to seeing you work on those.

    I have a UHF one of these deployed in a local community as a GMRS repeater. I never worked out how to remotely manage it over the Ethernet. Do you know how? I watched to the end and had to subscribe as you taught me two settings I didn't even know were there: DC TX Power and CWID Strip PL. So thanks for being a good teacher!

      Motorola has a program called (Repeater Diagnostics and Control utility). This is a software package that you use off site. This will allow you to remote into the repeater over the internet and monitor the repeater and make changes. If you don't have a Motorola account, I would get one. Once you get it going, tell them what you want to excess on the account, like parts, programming software, etc. They are very helpful if you don't see what you want they will help you find it. Thanks Nigel for the comment.

      @@Darrell_Coquillette Thanks Darrell, I do have an account and will seek out that program as it's a drive to reach the GMRS repeater. Watching your mouse urine episode right now! Cheers Nigel

    Thanks for posting this content. My buddy and I run a mix of Motorola XTS, XTL and XPR radios. And while we really appreciate the Moto gear for it's quality, reliability and audio qualities, it is (as you know) a bugger to program and manage. This has lead us to use Anytone for our DMR activities. That said, I do have a desire to find a decent UHF XPR 8400 and stand it up for a local DMR repeater. Again, great content and keep it coming!

    I want to know more about the Comercial amplifier can a Comercial amplifier be used after a duplexer to bring watts up after the duplexer

    • @Darrell_Coquillette
      @Darrell_Coquillette  7 дней назад +1

      Before the duplexer is where you would put your amp. The duplexer filters out everything but the receive and transmit frequencies. So you need to find a duplexer that can handle the amount of power you want to use. The smaller mobile duplexers may not be able to do the job for you. I hope you can get something up an running. Thank you for the comment.

    Darrell: Would let our club, make a donation to your club, for one of the 5 pins. I have talked to a dozen Hams and they all tell me your the guy. I'm only a little over a hour away ?

    • @Darrell_Coquillette
      @Darrell_Coquillette  7 дней назад

      I'm holding off on what to do with these. They have be donated to the club, and our next meeting is in Jan 2025. I would direct you to ebay. But I can understand if you are not an Ebay'er. For the same money you could get a much more desirable 16 pin model. These are much easier to put to many uses. Thanks for the comment and I will try to keep you updated on what is going to happen to them. Tnx again.
