I was raised in Lodi and loved it. Fished the Saddle River and my friends and I were sailors in every mason mixing pan we could abscond. Several times they filled with water and we swam to shore. The milk machine across the street from Santangelo’s funeral home, Lodi Modern Bakery, the Flying A service station. I went to St. Francis several years. Joseph feast, Washine Chemical company exploding a few times and knocking out windows in the area, Saddle River flooding, Fochi apartments on Main Street, Panama Hot Dogs, the Panama Boys, Wrights Village, DeVries Park, being the first graduating class(‘73) to get into the new High School for the last few months of our senior year, Pap’s luncheonette by the old high school, Carty’s candy store on Union avenue. Man this list is long. Frankie’s Market, which later became Champagne Towers, a place where concerts were held, walking to and from the old high school in any weather, Paulison’s furniture on Rt.46, Mother’s Speed Shop(also on Rt46). I’m on a jag here. I really did enjoy growing up in old Lodi. I wouldn’t change a thing about my childhood days and my friends. We always knew how to have a good time together. I could go on and on…. Thanks for posting this video, albeit a very different Lodi now. I wish it never changed. Rip to all those who have passed away yet played some role in my young life. Thanks for the memories that you gave me. I will never forget those people.🙏🥲🙏 I almost forgot to mention Richie’s luncheonette at the corner of Main Street and Garibaldi. So many memories of Richie’s like sitting down at the bar and having Rosie making Bobby and me a chocolate soda and buttering two seeded Lodi Modern rolls.
Lodi was an amazing place to grow up in the 70's. However, in the 80's the entire old main st was demolished to make way for KMart and other franchises (burger king for example) and a big parking lot. It really destroyed the local economy of the town as well as its personality. Terrible what they did there, now there is nothing but an abandoned shopping center. I wish whoever did that would be put in jail
There was a paper factory where the chemical plant was caught fire in the 79s. I lived on Union st. Main St was a open field when I lived there Good old place to live
I have driven through LOdi = had a friend who lived in Lodi while I studied at Peter Kump's NY cooking school/ I remember when Lodi was mentioned in a comedy film - I really want the chance to check out Lodi more next time I am in the area /
The home of Glenn Danzig and The Misfits. The city once had a notable Italian character, but today it looks like everywhere USA.
Thanks for the video. I grew up in Lodi, it will always be home.
Glenn Danzig should have his own memorial shrine and monument in Lodi
