Just a quick heads up, vertical arcade games are incredibly easy to set up in muOS. Just open the Retroarch settings and change the screen orientation, and remap the joystick to the right analog stick. I put all of my vertical games in one folder, so I was able to apply those settings once and they work on all of the games. Works great with Cave games, and I was even able to set up the Dreamcast version of Ikaruga like this.
When you use MAME 2003, the verts work perfectly in TATE mode, but not Final Burn Neo. With some games, they're automatically rotated at 90°, some automatically rotated at 270°.

New member hello from Belgium and thanks for the information about the anbernic RG35XX H I’ve just ordered mine two day’s ago and I am watching RUclips for some information about my emulator which is a new way of arcade gaming concept for me personally and I really found this information interesting because I’ve seen a lot of people talking about different softwares you can run on the device but doesn’t really explain the benefits and downsides as well as you did here so I will stick with the original firmware and as for updating my system goes atm I don’t own a personal pc/laptop so I hope my device comes with the new updates installed otherwise I’ll have to use it as is until I can purchase a decent laptop that runs atleast windows 10 😅
I got mine yesterday but it wont connect to Wifi. It shows yellow triangle on top of the Wifi signal (just like the one in this video's Thumbnail) and doesnt show SSID or IP adress. I am new to retro gaming and apologize for my incompetence. Any help would be greatly appreciated (here and in NerdsHeaven)
I agree with the topic but I can't pair my sn30 pro controller with the stock os. The stock os doesn't list the controller in Bluetooth settings.Batocera pairs with it but batocera has issues with hdmi out😢
Oh damn man, that sucks! Try putting it in D-Input mode (I can't remember the pairing button combination by heart). It should work. They should've covered in the manual that the Anbernic RG35XX H is a bit finnicky with Xinput controllers, instead of leaving people to play trial and error like this.
Mine gave me childhood joy on Day 1 of having it, until it didn't Boot Up again after the first Power off >_< now omw to install uber normie stock firmware in the hopes of not losing my sanity along the way °__°
Ok, that's interesting. Mine is close to arriving, but I was thinking of flashing muOS for a while. If stock is doing good, I might not rush too much then.
I think the stock firmware does the job for me. We all tinker but at the end of the day I bought this because everything is already there. No need to downloads roms. I dont know how Anbernic get away with it but they do..so far. I domt think you can grumble for £50.
I have been nerding around for the last 25y and in this kind of community projects always have some problems that a motivated nerd "forgives", but... im too old for that s**** at this point. I only want things to works.
Thanks for the great content as always... Do you know how you can add Amiga games to stock OS? I've tried the original stock OS, and then the updated new version, still can't get Amiga emulator to show. I've had to revert back to MuOS.
Great video and completely agree! There is this mantra around that people continue to mindlessly repeat, "stock is sh*t, only custom firmwares are good" for basically any of these devices, particularly anbernic ones... Then they give partially wrong information on how to flash a custom fw 😂 while this fw from anbernic is actually quite good, only missing a game fast switching function and automatic shut down save / load capability. And the "consolle mode" through HDMI/Bluetooth controller works like a charm! Only thing I would ask you would be to try pair 2 (or more...) BT controllers for real multiplayer (I can't do it since I only own 1 lol). Finally... I basically agree on everything you said, except that I still hold some hope for Jennifer Aniston to fall in love with me,some day.........
I'm a Batocera/EmulationStation Frontend lover... so I can't on my newly acquired RG35XX H. Especially because I can easily transfer things from my Retrobat setups, and my Batocera Mini PC setup... and FTP with the same/similar folder structure among all these EmulationStation front end using OSes/Programs... I just can't, even if PSP might better on Stock. N64 may win me over if it runs perfect even at the lowest resolution settings with zero stutter on all games, but I doubt that will happen... lol! Have better hope of that happening on Batocera's with its customizability and the ability of choosing from so many emulators or be emulator+settings specific per game settings.
Hi, great video. If I download latest firmware 240330 can I just instal it on a new SD card and use it or do I have to use original card and update it? Thanks.
@ I am very new to the emulation scene so excuse the bad question! I basically want to maximise performance, I want to play PSP and N64 games, I know that due to updates, the stock firmware on the system can run most games on those platforms really well, but does custom OS still run it well now?
This is a great development. Modding and tweaking these things are fun for some people, while it is a problematic hazzle for others. And the software is almost as important as the hardware when it comes to many things. I am sure having a good OS out of the box, is more attractive to many customers than developers have realized until now. Now lets hope they also stop bloating these things with thousands of totally worthless games that is only making browsing a mess.
Last time I checked, vertical arcade game performance and graphics were choppy and unpleasant compared to Retroarch. A good idea, but badly implemented. Has this changed at all, or do not people play it enough time to notice?
@@VladNerd Hi! According to a post of Black-Seraph in Patreon, these devices are supported 🤔 Anbernic RG405M Anbernic RG405V Anbernic RG35XX+ Anbernic RG35XXH Anbernic RG35XXSP (NEW) Anbernic RG28XX Retroid Pocket 2+ I don't know much about this, so maybe I'm missing something.

sir im totally alien to this rom,sd card, update etc etc thing... i just order this device. so is it ok for me to unpack and play ? do i have to do something other than this when my device arrive?
Another question i have is where to switch cores on the stock system? Also since the change to the stock system some games are not recognised by the system anymore (used batocera before (on a seperate sd card tho))
@@reserved2921 you have to put your roms in the proper folders on your SD card. The folder names for each system are slightly different in batocera compared to the stock one. You have some copy pasting to do from one folder to another. :) As for assigning different cores on Stock, I'd do that the old fashioned way from RetroArch. You have full access to RetroArch on stock as well. The Stock UI should respect your assigned cores after you finish tweaking things.

Mine gave me childhood joy on Day 1 of having it, until it didn't Boot Up again after the first Power off >_<
now omw to install uber normie stock firmware in the hopes of not losing my sanity along the way °__°
Can the Stock OS read .chd or ciso files (PS1, SCD, SDC, PSP)?
Ok, that's interesting. Mine is close to arriving, but I was thinking of flashing muOS for a while. If stock is doing good, I might not rush too much then.
I gave up on MuOS. No matter what I did I couldn't get it to connect to my Wi-Fi.
It doesn't want to work with wpa3. Putting your router in wpa2 ought to fix that
@@VladNerd uhhhhh, it IS WPA2.
@@InvidiousIgnoramus try putting in your ssid manually then. Wifi should work, it's just finicky :)
Had the same issue here. Batocera worked straight away. Not sure what was happening with MuOS.
I think the stock firmware does the job for me. We all tinker but at the end of the day I bought this because everything is already there. No need to downloads roms. I dont know how Anbernic get away with it but they do..so far. I domt think you can grumble for £50.
Stock is missing Mario games. Also some of the best games for more powerful console's are missing I.e jet set radio fot the dreamcast
Bactocera will be best when it’s done
I don't have friends, vlad is my only friend but that's okay, he's all I need
Missing the 'History' feature from the stock OS in Batocera. Is there a simple theme that displays my recently played games?
It's in the collections option when you hit the start menu. I think it's in automatic collections and it's called recently played.
Totally unhappy with the stock OS; it isn't instant on (takes around 15 seconds to wake from sleep). Going to Batocera fixed that
i bought the h and the + and actually prefer the stock over the kokori os.
For me, the stock firmware for the RG300X and RG280V is the best firmware. It's Open Dingux.
this was indeed a happy video
I have been nerding around for the last 25y and in this kind of community projects always have some problems that a motivated nerd "forgives", but... im too old for that s**** at this point. I only want things to works.
Saves me needing to install a custom OS.
I don't think bluetooth headphones work. That needs to be a thing.
With the improved stock os, does n64 performance improve?
Have you tried a modified stock OS? I hesitated to update to the most current OS since it improved emulation a lot as well.
Poor of stock is difficult to find port to work.... Some just edit script it's work and most of port is not work... Such render96ex😅
Thanks for the great content as always... Do you know how you can add Amiga games to stock OS? I've tried the original stock OS, and then the updated new version, still can't get Amiga emulator to show. I've had to revert back to MuOS.
Touchpad button is properly worki on nds? Cannon make it work on nds pokemon.
I use the stock firmware for the Anbernic ARC-D. I tried the others and they suck.
Stock os have problem with bluetooth controllers memory. But maybe it will be fixed ,hope so
I'm a Batocera/EmulationStation Frontend lover... so I can't on my newly acquired RG35XX H.
I just wasted time making a muos card and that os sucks for it
Hi, great video.
If I download latest firmware 240330 can I just instal it on a new SD card and use it or do I have to use original card and update it?
Thanks.
Does the stock OS have rectangular icons?
In the coming weeks/months muOS will be superior IMO, so I see no reason to switch back and forth personally. I can wait for HDMI etc to be fixed.
I'm rooting for it tbh, I love the simplicity of it & those delicious boot times
I have a question about the update,
do i need to delete the old version of the stock os before updating to the new version?
You'll have to wipe the SD card, yup. :(
Hi is this still the case? Or 6 months later is custom OS better?
I think it's a preference thing, tbh. You can't go wrong with either option. Stock should also serve you good. :)
@ I am very new to the emulation scene so excuse the bad question! I basically want to maximise performance, I want to play PSP and N64 games, I know that due to updates, the stock firmware on the system can run most games on those platforms really well, but does custom OS still run it well now?
Great video. Thanks.
can i just put the stock sd/stock os into my computer and add games just like that? im really only interested in gba/nds
Yup, totally.
Do you still feel this strong about stock os being better than mu os after the PS2 port video you just made?
Portmaster is nice, but I keep both firmwares on different SD cards and I actively switch between them. :)
@@VladNerd that’s what I was thinking about doing too! Thanks for that idea😂
Now i know i am not the only one prefer stock os than fancy custom os LOL
This is a great development. Modding and tweaking these things are fun for some people, while it is a problematic hazzle for others. And the software is almost as important as the hardware when it comes to many things. I am sure having a good OS out of the box, is more attractive to many customers than developers have realized until now. Now lets hope they also stop bloating these things with thousands of totally worthless games that is only making browsing a mess.
Is Stock OS better than Stock OS Mod ? (Last updates)
can you rewind the gameplay with the new stock system?
Does it fix the drain battery? And does the gta less choppy?
Botocera in my anbernic H is the real hero
This vlad character is something else 😂😂
Last time I checked, vertical arcade game performance and graphics were choppy and unpleasant compared to Retroarch. A good idea, but badly implemented. Has this changed at all, or do not people play it enough time to notice?
I went into them one night quite thoroughly, I haven't experienced any slowdowns tbh
Yes, I too love the vertical arcade and have never had or seen performance issues. 🤔🤷🏽
what about GarlicOS? did you try it?
GarlicOS isn't supported on anything else than the OG RG35XX. :)
And 2.0 is still being worked on. I'm patiently waiting for it to release. ❤️
@@VladNerd Hi! According to a post of Black-Seraph in Patreon, these devices are supported 🤔
Anbernic RG405M
Anbernic RG405V
Anbernic RG35XX+
Anbernic RG35XXH
Anbernic RG35XXSP (NEW)
Anbernic RG28XX
Retroid Pocket 2+
I don't know much about this, so maybe I'm missing something.
@@fmaylinch he's talking about version 2.0
That's still pretty unstable, as far as I know. I haven't checked in a while though
@@VladNerd thank you very much, so I'll investigate, because I wanted a OS that runs spectrum (I see that muOS and Batocera can do it, maybe StockOS too?)
sir im totally alien to this rom,sd card, update etc etc thing... i just order this device. so is it ok for me to unpack and play ? do i have to do something other than this when my device arrive?
Nah, tinkering is optional. The device comes with the stock rom. Just turn it on and play.
@@VladNerd is there any add-able games that stock doesnt contain?
Thanks for this video :)
May you provide the linkbto the last version uodated?
Did the Mod version do so good?
I just dropped it in the description. :)
I haven't tried the Mod version yet, it's definitely on my to-do, though! ❤️
Does Batocera have a media player on Anbernic?
Where download latest firmware? Is necessary format sd card ?
Does this update also apply to the PLUS Version?
Yeah
Clinches me sticking with the stock OS thanks.
Great video.
But do you need to download the "64GB" or "16GB" version? What's the difference even?
The 64gb version has games included. Anbernic is sneaky with that somehow. :)
@@VladNerd Ohhh i see haha
Another question i have is where to switch cores on the stock system? Also since the change to the stock system some games are not recognised by the system anymore (used batocera before (on a seperate sd card tho))
@@reserved2921 you have to put your roms in the proper folders on your SD card. The folder names for each system are slightly different in batocera compared to the stock one. You have some copy pasting to do from one folder to another. :)
As for assigning different cores on Stock, I'd do that the old fashioned way from RetroArch. You have full access to RetroArch on stock as well. The Stock UI should respect your assigned cores after you finish tweaking things.
Thanks for taking the time to give further context on this! ❤️
I feel the same way with the Modified addition
Any chances to play port doom on rg35xxh?
Mancunian here I understand ya :)
