  • The Movmax Grip Dolly is a great option for any professional or independent film maker at just $299 for the base dolly.
As we show, you literally cannot even DIY one for less. At least not a good one.
After using this dolly, it is quite amazing and with the standard kit at $499 with track holders and all the accessories and adapters you need, it is an investment that will last you a lifetime.
Forget huge doorway dollies, this is so easy to use, and why not, it was modeled after the Dana Dolly which is revolutionary. The Movmax version is even better and cheaper, at least for now.
The company VAXIS does not make cheap junk, in fact, they build very high end products used on many movie sets. But at the moment, you can get the dolly for just $299 which is hard to pass up.
Even if you cheap out and drop it on a couple PVC pipes, you will love it and you can always upgrade your tracks later.
The fact is, just to make a decent set of wheels, you are looking at $200 and then you might attach it to plywood? Take a look at this dolly and tell us how you can justify making one.
We should know, we made several DIY dollies, so this one, surprised us, and we like it so much, we bought 2.

The honesty and awesomeness has made me love the video, but the comment "who puts two plastic shit clamps in a kit like this" - sir, you have my sub.
I love the honesty, I'm in!

Thank you, that line was not in the script but so true. We like being able to give honest opinions and not trying to kiss ass to get sponsors.
We spend a ton of money on stuff because it had rave reviews that were just people blowing smoke in our faces to get paid or earn commissions. Too many people telling everyone that products are great when they suck.

@@mrdogpoopstudioscouldn't agree more man. We're not a studio that is sponsored by any means so we have to buy everything out of pocket, and when it's lack luster (to say the least) the rage builds

You will not regret it, the quality is amazing. But I see now they have raised the price to $1299. I am glad I got mine when it was cheaper.
Just a note, Vaxis does sell other parts that I did not know about including safety or anti top pieces.

I ordered the ones with wheels and the under slung adapters but still have not received them yet. They also have more attachments but I can't find them for sale anyplace.

@@mrdogpoopstudios yeah I found the site last night after wondering where to get underslung parts since it’s not on MOVMax site. Will definitely be getting all the accessories.

@@tylerjanik2132 So there are more parts as well if you contact the US Vaxis dealer in LA. I have not seen any of the accessories for sale online.
But they are calling the grip dolly a platform and plan to make many more accessories for it.
They have attachments to make it a High Hat to use off tracks for static shots. I think they will keep developing new toys for it.

@@mrdogpoopstudios yeah I love that idea of having a whole ecosystem for the movmax and it not just being an alternative to a Dana Dolly. I’ll have to contact the dealer to check out the other accessories. Me and my brother spent hours testing it yesterday and it is fantastic.

What do you think of the PROAIM Breeza Dolly slider. On Amazon it’s about 500 bucks. Movmax is the same price but I have to pay 200 shipping 🤔 would it be better to get the PROAIM?

I have not tried the Proaim Breeza, but Proaim is hit and miss. Some things are good and some are bad, but never great. The movmax, is great and Proaim will never reach the quality of the Movmax.
You can buy the Movmax with free shipping from B&H, if you just want the standard kit it is $499, just the 100mm and 75mm bowl adapters, do you really need the 150mm and Mitchell mount?

Buy the Movmax, you wont believe how nice it is.

Please, do a video comparing a Dana Dolly style slider to just a regular slider. Might be comparable in price on in features. Obviously they are very different but I wonder what are the key differences when compared in real life situation. I imagine regular slider would give more features but Dana Dolly syle slider will hold more weight and give an ability to change the lenght of the tracks.
Also, I was thinking about this issue of tiping over protection that wouldn't interfere with center support and I think I might be onto something.

We definitely have a load of cheaper sliders and we had plans to do just what you suggested. But we just can't make the time to do all the videos we would like. Hopefully we can get to it.
Obviously, the smaller sliders are portable and great for what they do, but I doubt you will find them on a movie set.
However, there are loads of expensive pro sliders that cost big money. $5000+ at just 2-3 feet. Look at the Grip Factory 2' GF-Slider, for almost $5K.
So the Dana style dolly is really a cheap alternative to the professional sliders. That is why it is so popular.
We look at the Dana dolly as an alternative to say a Fisher dolly with huge tracks, huge dolly and very expensive to rent.

@@mrdogpoopstudios I've had my fare share of work with cheap crap sliders as well but I'm more interested with comparing to those between 500-2000 dollars in price. Those high-end ones don't really make sense to me as well because at this price range there's no point in comparing them to a 1000 dollars Dana Dolly, let alone to cheaper alternatives.
