In this video I give you all of the strategies I have developed for the browser-based game 2048. I was able to consolidate up to a 4096 block using the strategies outlined above so hopefully these tips and tricks will help you understand how to go about beating this addictive game.
Using your corner strategy, I just increased my high score from 6,896 to 11,396. I'd never ever seen the 1,024 block before!
vmipsychmajor i went from 6000 to 33000 but i figured this out by myself.

It's basically the same thing, with a different corner :) I saw another guy smashing into the right top corner.

In a strategy video for the game 2048, he never actually wins a game of 2048.
I pretty much figured out all of these on my own and it took me a HELL of a lot of time! It would have been better if I've seen this video before, and for all of those who can't reach 2048, just work on it! You can get there!

@@Dra3oon im not sure what you're asking but 2048 is not the largest block you can get. You can go to 4096, 8192, and so on. You "win" the game when you get a 2048 tile but you can still continue afterwards.

I personally like the "Snake" strategy better and have gotten ridiculously high scores with it (479476 is my current high score) it's similar to this one in where you stick the highest number in a corner, but then you go with second highest next to that and in the same direction third highest next to that then when you hit the end you move over 1 and go the opposite direction until you hit another wall and you do this until you have no more spots left

The only rule i ever followed before was "don't swipe down" and i'd line up all my numbers in order so I could just swipe through them all (it's super satisfying) so maybe i'll try this strat the next time my game ends. (right now i'm at a 4096 tile with a 2048 next to it and then a 512)
My strategy is to use huge 2048. High score on 10x10 is
109,832, 8x8 is 1868
6x6 is 1,064
5x5 880
4x4 2,368
3x3 is 500.

thanks for teaching people this. my dad taught me this when i was 5 and now my best is 60000 and i got the 4096 tile twice :)

I already knew this strategy and dear god it works wonders.
My high score is 57048. I actually got an 8192 that round :D. After I discovered this strategy (myself..) I got addicted :p it's so fun to know how other people did the exact same thing! Great vid!
OK - underholdning its impossible to get 8192 with your score you need something like 80k

You have given a good basic strategy, but once you get your "home row" to decent numbers i actually found switching to the opposite side (up right instead of up left etc) to consistently achieve high scores. My highest score right now is 78012 which is approaching the 8192 tile.
Without cheap undo my best is 8192 and 111344 points. I don't really use this strategy. I create a row in which they decrease from the top right corner to the left and then it loops around to include the second row. The problem is that I sometimes get a flat grid.

I use down-left
The middle finger is longer than the index finger though, so having your middle finger on the up key works just as well.

Dude, THANKS for this video. I just got 2048 with a score of 20,something (phone died) after having the app installed for months! Prior to learning your strategy: I kept getting stuck at no more than 4,000 points.

Felt like a genius figuring this out on my own two days after I downloaded it. 125K is my current highscore after two weeks
Update: Well after about four months of playing my highscore is at 1,3 million but now at 5 months of playing I'll have to say its not easy to break that record.

I also figured this strategy out on my own in 2 days
It's been 3 days since i started playing this game and my high score is 150k
i actually figured it out myself and yeah by that strategy i won my first 2048 game.
I like to put it on right upper corner tho
Now we're playing 2048 for the first thing that will think about you, and if you're sort of stuck, then go right. For actually the highest value demonstration by collapsing everything but this option is too sensible as possible when it is pointless by low value numbers. That's a stupid idea for the locational by a button mashing by getting very close to 2048, consildating obviously will pretend it to do. It guarded lock so got fours and this is a couple of thing for four is locked too. There changed corners not to know but it makes sense. And it blocks by a format. Appearing the temptation by its format by through that you can try its game by remaining by consolidations to do is an example. Two at a same time. By messing the board, it consildates more insufficient by an innovations. And get more scores.

Well, my hi-score is 57,296. My strategy is similar, but I suppose it's slightly better. The first row is basically same as yours, but when I lock it, I make the second one in the opposite direction. This way you can consolidate it even better.
I watched it just to see if it's similar as my strategy or even the same, and maybe to see something that could improve my strategy (well, that didn't happen in the end, as I already know all you shown here). But anyway, it's a nice guide and I guess most of people watching this can actually learn a lot of new skills from you.

Interesting how adding an additional and simple parameter results in a pattern.
So you say to restrict yourself to up and left, and manage to trap yourself three times in 90 seconds, forcing yourself to go right or down. You literally said "just mash buttons." Nice strategy :/

For 8x8 gird in 2048, you repeat these moves over and over: right, up, down, right. Then repeat over and over, it's not effective but it works

Another strategy is to use ONLY three directions. I never swap left. And I have to make sure I won't ever have to do that. It works pretty well too.
That's really easy man just a focus and this algorithm I went 8192
I just paused after I heard about restricting to up-left and got my 8444 high score.

He was talking about going up and left, so it would be confusing if he suddenly decided to go up right
You don't have to worry about the 2nd row, numbers will pop up there to match it anyways

Does this strategy works for non-standard game fields?
for example "X2 2048" game. They have more than 30 non-standard game boards
I play without Taktik just play without Put the biggest Number in a corner and My highscore is about 124000

sushant Kumar 131027 isn’t that hard if you know how to do it. You just follow a circle and line up the tiles consecutively. And luck ofc
I tried this strategy and I successfully merged 512 of my first time
Disadvantage discovered:
If you use this strategy sometime the tile may stuck: Neither of the two arrows may work
Example: If 256 is on the top-right then click *_right_* or *_up_* can't merge/move tiles then you can only move left or downward then your biggest tile may stuck at the middle

Beat this when it was a game of symbols and no explanation. I guess those 3 times I won, my strats were on point. Take into account it took me several upon several hours aka 2 days of this game to beat it.
D; my friends didn't get jealous, I accidently told them that you had the secret of reaching this height, they got higher than me ;(

In my experience, restricting to up and left, only allowing right when left is impossible (which is advocated in other videos), is not a winning strategy. [Note: just an example--all corners are symmetric.] Note that his strategy is much more complex than this, and looks much better.

I like to keep my biggest number in the bottom corner and if you do that don’t do up moves they will mess you up unless you are very desperate

Why are you struggling with this radius strategy?
I play the zig zag strategy.
Let's say the base is the bottom right. You need to always go in decreasing order but not radius. You go from right to left on the bottom row and then you go up a row and switch towards right again.
This always works. I find it much easier than this radius idea.
How do I prevent a 2 from getting locked in the home row right next to the highest block?

Do it in the bottom right corner. I got to the 4 tile and I going for the 8
THat big problem of gaurding can solved by a algorithm of left-down-right-up-left-down-right-up
If you just go in a circle then you can go up to 512
You can actually discover those moves. Actually i've been playing this game from time to time and as i watch this video i usually applied those moves and it is actually predictable.
if you got used to programming and bit-operations, this will all be more easy to unterstand.

I can get 2048 several times a day and my husband still cannot. Is it not normal to win this game. I am still trying to get past 2048 though.

What I do is I spawn them a lot in 12x12 then I switch it in all four corners.
I can’t do random button mashing into the same corner, but swiping into the same corner isn’t hard.

Then you get stuck at a perfect radial setup from the top left corner with 256 as the highest and 2 as the lowest, get pissed, and quit the game.

My high score is in the 160,000 but the game I'm playing now I have a decision to make...if I do the dreaded down move I'll be able to pair up my two 4096 but I'll probably screw up the board by adding blocks between the format I've got going on.
