Now hear me out here, these games are magical. Now imagine these games remade in a style, similar to that of breath of the wild or tears of the kingdom.
Man, I loved this game. 1) I completed the 100 question quiz. Wrote down every question as they came and all the answers in the notebook. Noted all the correct and wrong answers as I figured them out. Took a long time for me complete that. 2) Both in this game and the first, those sniper-joe reverbots can have their shields knocked out of their hands. The drill is one of the weapons that can do this. 3) The "leech-like things" at the bottom of the frog boss were tadpoles! The theming! 4) With those low, crawly reaverbots that need to be flipped to take damage, you can just pick them up with the lifter and throw them at each other. This usually kills the one thrown in one hit. 5) I think I remember with the reaverbots hiding in the ground that grab you, in the short window before they attack, you can roll out of the suction if you dodge left or right fast enough.
Aberrant Units were called "Irregulars" (the same term used for Mavericks in the X series and beyond) in the Japanese version of the Legends games. Purifier Units, I believe, were called "Irregular Hunters".
I wasn't able to finish the first game as a kid, but I was able to finish this one. All I can say is, that this was one of the most influential video games that I grew up with. The question of whether to revive a perfect, utopian world such as Elysium or preserve the imperfect, but adequate living conditions on Terra has always stuck with me since then. This game ingrained in me at such a young age that experiencing pain, hunger, suffering also meant that you will be able appreciate the feeling of comfort, happiness, and contentment in life. Feelings that The Master had became desensitized to until he went down to Terra with Trigger and observed how the Carbons were able to live their lives there. Pretty underrated game for its time. I really hope Capcom revives this franchise, I need my closure :(
Same considering Capcom has been making remakes these last few years with the success of the RE franchise an the recent release of RE4 remake. They should at least give the Legends series another go with updated graphic, gameplay, and add stuff into the game. Call it "Mega man Legends Reborn" a remake too the original. Essentially remake the first 2 games, and expand on the lore a bit more, before they give us the promised legends 3.
MegaMan's armor and his normal looking human body, are both his actual body. He can easily swap out his human body for a robotic one. They appear human, but can easily fuse themselves with robotic parts. They can even completely replace their whole bodies if they want. It is stated by an npc in the 1st game that fusing with robotics is so normal that getting surgery or going to the mechanic is basically considered the same thing. Carbons are the realised dream of Thomas from ZX Advent, as it was his dream to create a being that was a fusion of human and reploid.

Also there is a MegaMan lore expert on RUclips that goes over everything in the series, he is quite thorough and I learned that from him. I think his channel is called reploidrevo or something. Ok damn. I got curious and I looked up that reploidrevo channel to see his uploads, and all I got in the search bar was reploidrevo controversy. Turns out I guess he got outed for a bunch of stuff a few months ago. Bunch of allegations from grooming, cheating, sexual assault, and some other stuff too. Wild, I had no idea. That and his channel is terminated now. Damn, why can't RUclipsrs just be normal.
Alot of gamers have their first taste of gamer rage from the souls game.. Sera and her 2nd form gave me that, since it can be frustratingly hard but that makes clearin the game more satisfying.. God I wish this series can get a comeback....

I think in one of the endings of Megaman X5 or X6 (it's been very long since I've played the games) there was one ending where X was dreaming/talking to someone wanting to build "Elysium". This might confirm that the Legends series happens in the distant future of the X timeline.

I'm going to assume Yuna was unaware of many things! Such as I think "Banner's" amnesia was caused by Yuna to avoid having to "Get rid of him" since she's using Matilda's body! But Yuna's unaware they are a couple or they have a daughter! Barrell is likely not saying anything till he's sure or well. It feels like the Banner and Matilda Plotline was dropped for the sake of resolving it in MML3 which as we know "got canceled and may never see the light of day!" (Damn you Capcom!) Honestly I do hate when plot threads like that are "saved for a sequel that may never come" put that one right up with Trigger/Volnett indefinite stay on the moon! But yet nice "teasing something that may never get resolved" (and sadly NEVER WILL BE sans fanfic writers LOL)
For clarification, the Parabola Gun that they use to fend off Glyde's flagship attack was actually purposefully sabotaged by an inside agent as part of Glyde's attack strategy. I forget who exactly but one of the miners drops hints about the sabotage however unless you're closely paying attention it's easy to miss that detail. Excellent video mate, I played countless hours of both Mega Man Legends 1 & 2 so this was a very nice trip down memory lane!
I remember memorizing the mayor's quiz as a kid. The secret I did was the quiz has a set of questions that will be on the same order. You just need to remember 1-5 questions to know the order. And try to use that format till you memorize it one by one. Since internet were not available on that time. I tried memorizing it till I got it till 100th.
The actual art style used is shadeless which isn't as sophistocated as cell shading, but is much easier to render deos mean you have to manually ad shadows The style is actually much easier on the hardwear.

I love how the story ended up very similar to Horizon Zero Dawn. This game is still my absolute favorite because the plot, despite of how much further it could've gone, had me absolutely flabbergasted as a kid. Still replaying both games every couple of years for nostalgia.

Actually, no. If you look at how the joints of Rock's combat suit operate, along with their dimensions, they don't support the notion that it's just a suit. That's a whole other body. The humanlike one he has in the opening cutscene would therefore have to be a secondary Reploid body which I assume his head and neck detach from and socket into. This is kind of supported by the lore surrounding Carbons being not merely human, but a sort of human-Reploid hybrid whose cybernetic physiology allows them to modularize themselves using mechanical attachments they can swap on and off. It's why you see Tiesel looking very obviously cybernetic in one scene and totally human in another. Because I'm a NERD! XP 14:47 No points for guessing where the idea for Grineer Thumpers came from.
The quiz is obnoxious too because along with the seemingly random crap you’re not likely to know, some of the answers the game needs to pass the quiz are factually incorrect.
Ironically the second major ruin, the underwater one, should NOT have that much slow down, it seems that's a bug on the PS1 version and it was fixed on the PSP version of the game (which is only in Japanese). But just watching people playing it without the slow down makes you feel jealous af.
I hated the Nino Island ruins, but at the same time the sheer difficulty of it because of the movement speed is what made it unique and frustratingly memorable in my opinion. It was deep, dreadful, and dangerous which I imagined what a Ruin in that universe should have felt like for the people there.
One thing I always wondered was wether Glide's base was built around a crash landed EDEN unit as the texture and shape are almost identical to the one seen at the end of Legends 1
I feel the only shot of a 3rd game is if they bother to re-release the 1st 2 in a collection with quality of life changes and it sells well. Of course I would welcome it because I find PS1 era 3D games impossible to go back to as the control style is just too outdated (for me). Even modifying controls in an emulator, I just can't get it to control in a way I can tolerate.
I'm torn between which game I like more. Legends had such a great charm to it and contrast between colorful and anime-like overworld and creepy terrifying atmospheric dungeons. Legends 2 made massive improvements to gameplay mechanics and controls, had a more open world but it didn't have that same theming Legends had. Not bad in any way, just different by comparison.
PSA: The reaverbots in Saul Kada ruins can be avoided, and do have a tell. There are lines that appear on the ground on either side of megaman before it clamps you, giving you just enough time to either jump out of the way (note that jumping straight up and landing in the same spot will still get you caught) or preferably preforming a roll to get out of the way.
Not disagreeing with your video, but I love the Megaman/Rockman lore (lol) and wanted to throw in my 2 cents. My understanding, from both Legends 1 and 2, is that the original humans all left Earth sometime in the future (after some worldwide cataclysm - I'm guessing the same event that caused all/most of the Earth to be flooded). I also believe the original humans are now referred to as enlightened (perfected???) humans. I believe Megaman Juno (in Legends 1) tells Megaman Trigger that all humans went to live in Elysium (the spaceship we visit in Legends 2) and the Carbons (fake/manufactured humans on Earth) are basically on Earth to "keep the Earth warm" until the original humans are ready to return. Megaman Juno was the bureaucracy unit while Megaman Trigger was the... trigger unit to start an event to kill all Carbons to make room for the original humans. It seems like the Carbons are - for all intents and purposes - human in a sense that they need to reproduce, get injured, eat, etc - except they can also remove body parts and replace them with robot parts and kinda be all robotic (lol). Maybe they were reploids that evolved (again, lol)? Evolved reploids kinda matches the overall Megaman/Rockman theme. Finally, I also remember in an interview that Legends IS indeed canon to the original Megaman timeline in addition to Classic era - taking place in 20XX - and the X series - taking place in 21XX. Legends (or DASH) takes place in XXXX - so far into the future it isn't even worth mentioning the year. For all we know, it could be the year 9999. Also, Megaman being named Megaman is a localization issue. He was still referred to as Rock and Rockman in the originals. Roll's journal is different in the Japanese version (localization is fun stuff, IIRC all purifier units are referred to as Megaman's... Megamen?... e.g.: Megaman Juno, Megaman Trigger, etc). This was a great video and I really enjoyed it! Keep up the good work!
Hayao Miyazaki's movie Castle In The Sky also has the same theme of airships, pirates, a floating ancient castle surrounded by an impenetrable storm, and ancient technology that can potentially destroy the world.

I thought so much time has passed since the x series that the line between human and reploid was so blurred that they were some type of hybrids. The alogorithm is a harsh mistress when you're first starting out, as if you're not covering something big and mainstream, with people also searching for it at the same time, it can take a while to really grow. The whole Roll naming Rockman "MegaMan" thing isn't really canon in the Japanese version of Rockman DASH 2 Professor Barrel named Rockman Rock as a pun on Rock and Roll Capcom's translation team changed it to MegaMan because they thought Rock was short for Rockman and Rockman means MegaMan so it was changed to MegaMan Volnutt and the whole MegaMan being Rock and Roll's favorite video game series was promotion done mostly on Capcom USA's part

I know this is two years late, but I need to point out MEGAMAN LEGENDS is the ONLY game where Rockman is wearing armor, in every other rendition only the helmet is removable.
Not sure why you are getting hate, this is definitely cel shading, similar to Windwaker. Early cel shading games have aged amazingly well. Compare this game to other PS1 games.
I love MML2, but I have to say that the ruins in Nino Island are too frustrating and boring. Capcom was really wrong for thinking that these mechanics were going to be fun.
Actually giving the lonely girl the piggy and getting/giving the school items to the twins does give you something. It give Mega Man good karma so you can become holy Mega Man in normal mode and get the shop discount. You see to get holy Mega Man you need 16384 Good karma. You can get 3000 from the A test, 8000 from the S test, 5000 from rebuilding Potke village after Tron destroys it, 5000 from giving the school items, and 1500 from giving the piggy. So you can get it without donating to the church but it's only possible in normal mode.
if you knock king miroc down, then pick it up and throw it, ittl die with 1 more shot. also you can kill klaymoor in 2 seconds flat with the drill. best way to fight geetz is with z-sabre

An interesting theory, considering ZX was adding references to Legends, wouldn't surprise if they revived the game now if Neo Arcadia or Weil end up involved to tie everything together.

I hated the Nino Island ruins, but at the same time the sheer difficulty of it because of the movement speed is what made it unique and frustratingly memorable in my opinion. It was deep, dreadful, and dangerous which I imagined what a Ruin in that universe should have felt like for the people there.

One thing I always wondered was wether Glide's base was built around a crash landed EDEN unit as the texture and shape are almost identical to the one seen at the end of Legends 1

I feel the only shot of a 3rd game is if they bother to re-release the 1st 2 in a collection with quality of life changes and it sells well. Of course I would welcome it because I find PS1 era 3D games impossible to go back to as the control style is just too outdated (for me). Even modifying controls in an emulator, I just can't get it to control in a way I can tolerate.

I'm torn between which game I like more. Legends had such a great charm to it and contrast between colorful and anime-like overworld and creepy terrifying atmospheric dungeons. Legends 2 made massive improvements to gameplay mechanics and controls, had a more open world but it didn't have that same theming Legends had. Not bad in any way, just different by comparison.
PSA: The reaverbots in Saul Kada ruins can be avoided, and do have a tell. There are lines that appear on the ground on either side of megaman before it clamps you, giving you just enough time to either jump out of the way (note that jumping straight up and landing in the same spot will still get you caught) or preferably preforming a roll to get out of the way.
Looks like an awesome game! *gets on eBay to find it to play for my newly acquired PS2* sees $240 piece tag. Yikes what a shame. Pc here we come

Not disagreeing with your video, but I love the Megaman/Rockman lore (lol) and wanted to throw in my 2 cents. My understanding, from both Legends 1 and 2, is that the original humans all left Earth sometime in the future (after some worldwide cataclysm - I'm guessing the same event that caused all/most of the Earth to be flooded). I also believe the original humans are now referred to as enlightened (perfected???) humans.
I believe Megaman Juno (in Legends 1) tells Megaman Trigger that all humans went to live in Elysium (the spaceship we visit in Legends 2) and the Carbons (fake/manufactured humans on Earth) are basically on Earth to "keep the Earth warm" until the original humans are ready to return. Megaman Juno was the bureaucracy unit while Megaman Trigger was the... trigger unit to start an event to kill all Carbons to make room for the original humans.
It seems like the Carbons are - for all intents and purposes - human in a sense that they need to reproduce, get injured, eat, etc - except they can also remove body parts and replace them with robot parts and kinda be all robotic (lol). Maybe they were reploids that evolved (again, lol)? Evolved reploids kinda matches the overall Megaman/Rockman theme.
Finally, I also remember in an interview that Legends IS indeed canon to the original Megaman timeline in addition to Classic era - taking place in 20XX - and the X series - taking place in 21XX. Legends (or DASH) takes place in XXXX - so far into the future it isn't even worth mentioning the year. For all we know, it could be the year 9999. Also, Megaman being named Megaman is a localization issue. He was still referred to as Rock and Rockman in the originals. Roll's journal is different in the Japanese version (localization is fun stuff, IIRC all purifier units are referred to as Megaman's... Megamen?... e.g.: Megaman Juno, Megaman Trigger, etc).

Thanks I appreciate the support! The alogorithm is a harsh mistress when you're first starting out, as if you're not covering something big and mainstream, with people also searching for it at the same time, it can take a while to really grow.

The whole Roll naming Rockman "MegaMan" thing isn't really canon in the Japanese version of Rockman DASH 2 Professor Barrel named Rockman Rock as a pun on Rock and Roll Capcom's translation team changed it to MegaMan because they thought Rock was short for Rockman and Rockman means MegaMan so it was changed to MegaMan Volnutt and the whole MegaMan being Rock and Roll's favorite video game series was promotion done mostly on Capcom USA's part

This series was too good to only get 2 entries when there are 8 X games and 11 Rockman games.
I know this is two years late, but I need to point out MEGAMAN LEGENDS is the ONLY game where Rockman is wearing armor, in every other rendition only the helmet is removable.
Not sure why you are getting hate, this is definitely cel shading, similar to Windwaker. Early cel shading games have aged amazingly well. Compare this game to other PS1 games.

Actually giving the lonely girl the piggy and getting/giving the school items to the twins does give you something. It give Mega Man good karma so you can become holy Mega Man in normal mode and get the shop discount. You see to get holy Mega Man you need 16384 Good karma. You can get 3000 from the A test, 8000 from the S test, 5000 from rebuilding Potke village after Tron destroys it, 5000 from giving the school items, and 1500 from giving the piggy. So you can get it without donating to the church but it's only possible in normal mode.

An interesting theory, considering ZX was adding references to Legends, wouldn't surprise if they revived the game now if Neo Arcadia or Weil end up involved to tie everything together.
