What an excellent explanation! I can feel the difference just from your description and invitation to choose how to engage in class and with my students while honoring and integrating each lived experience. Building a safe space feels so intuitive the way you unfold it all in context with the lived experience of trauma. Nityda Gessel, this is WHY I chose to train with you. I was certified to teach Yoga in 1994, and have been teaching ever since. Your Trauma Conscious Yoga Method is the only method that has blown the door wide-open and laid tracks towards what has been missing in my personal understanding and needs to build upon such a beautiful, rich, and ancient Raja Yoga foundation. I'm so grateful for the choice to train virtually and at my own pace...completely different from my full ashram immersion in the 90s, for I have had to face the trauma of a falling accident that has turned my teaching upside down! It's a JOY to see this video while I'm at such a good recovery stage for my left foot! Getting the basics back in my body is a process. Thank you for everything you do!

I'd never heard the part about choices being taken away, that makes a lot of sense & helps me understand my own experience better.

I'm an LMFT researching trauma focused/sensitive yoga after learning about it in a CEU course. I'm sharing this link with a few clients as your approach is gentle and respectful, and your description is clear and specific. Namaste, and subscribed.

I have been curious about the difference between trauma-focused yoga vs. non-trauma focused yoga and I found this to be really helpful. Thank you for sharing this.

Hi. With headphones on, I can hear your voice from only one ear. It doesn't happen when the intro music is playing, or in any other youtube videos, so my headphones are probably fine. I just wanted to bring that to your notice, and ask if any other viewers are experiencing similar issues.

Thank you for posting this. Are there any books or articles for beginners that you can recommend which explain/describe how trauma manifests in the body?

Yes! Waking the Tiger, The Body Keeps the Score, My Grandmother's Hands, and I am writing a book right now! Also, our certification training helps you gain an in-depth understanding of this if you would want to go that route. :D
