There is a market for EVs, but it isn't the luxury or sports car market. It's the 2 car family that have a second, small car for local shopping trips and school runs. They also need a space where they can charge at home and not be taxed for having a driveway instead of a front lawn (that needs watering and isn't all that environmentally friendly).

I love ev's around town. They are smooth, quiet and nice to drive. Of course any time you want to go far they drop on their backside and thats ignoring the silly prices, lack of fire mitigation and all the rest. What I don't understand is why ev's are considered at all? Once you have a plug-in hybrid which can do all the town stuff on electric you're good. Ev's offer little or no gain on a run and require a massive amount of resources to make - along with the infrastructure requirements. A plug-in does everything an ev does but with 1/4 or less of the battery, usually far less weight (always far less when you take range into account), no need to rip half the country up for new cables and no huge cost looming when the battery gets past its age. There is literally no gain to a long range ev over a plug-in.
Add, not replace. Sort the infrastructure. Sort the source of the juice. Then make them much less complex and therefore cheaper. Unfortunately they all went to compete with Tesla instead of doing their own thing. Big, heavy, complicated, expensive and frankly too fast for the public roads. Wakey Wakey.
By the way Jeffrey my son that was defo one of the best suggestions I've fekin heard like on these ev shit boxes , it would make a great experiment to put the likes of the Vauxhall corsa or fiat 500 models lined up next to each other on the garage forecourts starting with the diesel model next to the petrol model to the elecky one and all at exactly the same price and see what happens, I think we all know what shit would be left sitting there eh 🤪
Moral of the story. If you happen to be a succesful and well respected car company, maybe let your customers determine your products and not fickle, self interested governement policy.
The less electronics we buy the better. I don’t want any new electronics with computerisation. Look at what happened with that outage. Banks and shops were stopped in their tracks. We need more than one energy source.
That was convenient… the flooded supplier gets complete disclosure of their predicament by their customer so their customer can avoid admitting their error on going large on EVs.
Shortage of Aluminium.... Aluminium is used in the production of extra high voltage DC cables to take the power generated from off shore windfarms... Globally. Go figure why Porsche can't find any aluminium
Apart from range anxiety, who wants to have a more expensive electric vehicle and make a huge loss on its resale - surely that will affect business sales too, eventually?
'Let the market decide...' Markets for ALL manufactured products - Inc cars - decided long, long ago (on this planet and not a galaxy far, far away) that consumers will ALWAYS go for CONVENIENCE. No matter how you dress it up, EVs are NOT convenient. Charging them, maintaining them etc etc. That's why, just like a hundred years ago, they will find their place in the mix - note: IN the mix, not replacing the mix!

Racing with hydrogen powered cars sounds exciting. Hope the new formula goes off with a bang 🙂
Would be funny to see Le Mans 24, just with BEVs.
Imagine all those drivers full of adrenaline in the pit lane, waiting for their car to recharge.
A idea for a video Geoff how many cars could you buy with the money, Lee has lost on his lump of 💩 the only rule is you have to spend, what you normally do on a car 👍
Wonder how the Taycan 2 is doing. Not seen a single one on the road yet.
Haha... spoiler alert - Geoff wins!! GGG!!!
There were around 30 electric cars on the Mercedes forecourt in Inverness, never shift them
Hopefully they'll put an ICE in the new Macan. They'll sell loads !.
Aluminium production consumes so much energy that it's described by some as "solidified electricity"
Make Cars Great Again!
Market forces dictate not goverments or manufactures, make what ever you want if people wont buy them you go bust
Want is that a U turn for EV,s ????😅😂
”Yes! Our JLR vehicles are famous for bad electrics so lets make them full electric!” 🥳
Oh well never mind 😅😅
Im on benefits, and by the sounds of it, I'm going to be able to buy a Porsche soon 😂
EVs and Net Zero: the equivalent of Trabants and Soviet Propaganda.
Has anyone else noticed the Labour government has been suspiciously quiet about our EV future?
"I never make predictions, especially about the future."
Kevin Keegan?
How are they going to sell vehicles no-one buys?
The people and their budgets will control the markets; the average family can’t afford an 100k car nor a used 30k one either.
new math will be 80% actually becomes 0.80% and say they are the same
