Most whites were blue collar workers like blacks and a lot of them lived in black and white mixed neighborhoods so they learned how to sing like blacks and act like them. What happened was Reagan came and decided to lift up the white race and keep blacks down and they divided them through economics on purpose. Then slowly the mixed neighborhoods became predemonately black and the value of the neighborhoods went down. That's why I know others don't believe me but the white cops during this time wasn't acting cray cray like they do now. They weren't shooting to kill either. They were more friends like to the community and there were even neighborhood group parties with different races of kids and mothers in the neighborhood doing it. I hate they took this time period away from us. When they got rid of disco music then the rap music came. The whites moved completely out of the neighborhods and then songs about kill whitely and kill the cops and then talking under women's clothes. And at the time I don't remember alot of black men having babies out of wedlock. Most black men were married to black women and they had legitimate families. But then they started quoting false statistics saying most black men had babies out of wedlock and weren't married and that WASN'T TRUE. They bought into the propaganda and lies. Started quoting this mess and I'd tell them everyone on the street is married and have babies and familes so what are they talking about. They ignored with their OWN EYES that most of the people in their neighborhood they knew or saw was married with childrne. AMPLIFIED MAYBE 1 PERONS OUT OF 20 OR 30 BLACK families who had 1 kid out of wedlock.

KC was great, but the times were changing, and evolving into history, as rap music was just beginning, and sadly the disco era was ending as people tastes were rapidly changing...

Everytime I get down in the dumps....all I need to do is go back and listen to the music of my teenage years....the '70s and, I don't feel blue any longer. I'm thankful I was a teenager during the '70s, having graduated in '79! Young people today and those of us that were young back then....are enjoying Disco/Pop even today! There were so many great Bands from Hard Rock, Soft Rock, Southern Rock to Disco/Pop. 1 of my all-time favourite Bands back then....and still is today....was/is The Doobie Bros. Just like KC and The Sunshine Band, The Doobie Bros. just brought feel good music. A person could literally sit, and listen to the music of our generation for hours and hours, for an unknown amount of time. There's just so much of it and thanks to RUclips and creators, we CAN sit and listen to all of this circa '70s to our hearts' content. Thank you Shawn and Mel for doing your part to keep the music of the '70s alive and, bringing joy to the hearts of us....older folks lol. I love Bands, like The Sunshine Band, that has brass instruments. I was a member of our HS Band (Marching, Concert, AND Stage) and College. I was a Drum Major my Jr and Sr years in HS and College. Our generation loved music so much that....in our HS of only around 800 students, we had a Marching Band of 250 members! Sadly, the man that brought our small town a great HS Band Program, passed away 2 days ago. He TOO, loved KC and The Sunshine Band! At School Dances, you would see him groovin'....all 6'6'' of him lol.

I've gone from roller skating to this song as a teenager to hearing it as music on the commercials to the medication I take :D

The beauty of it is, you can turn your living room into a disco any old time! Put on your boogie shoes and shake your booties! Tape it for us! 🤗

Omg I love your reactions....I am so very happy I was born in the 60s and grew up on this music , there honestly is no better time in music history than the 70s through the 80s....that was just a magical time . the disco era was so much fun, then the pop era came in the 80s and just wow ..... if you guys haven't heard George Michael before , you gotta give him a listen and check out his body of work...just amazing .

Disco Inferno by the Tramps is another one. As soon as the song would start, everybody jumped up on the dance floor. I was in my 20s at the height of disco. Out every night. Fun times!

GET DOWN TONIGHT was their first hit single that opened the door to K.C.and the Sunshine Band. THAT'S THE WAY ( I LIKE IT ) followed and they were off and running. You might also like I GET LIFTED, which is an underrated song of theirs that is a little funkier to dance to. Get after it. The floor is yours.

If I was younger (I'm 72 now) and IF I had a big party, I would put their record on, the vinyl LP not CD, on my record player and turn it up and make everyone have boogie shoes and dance. sigh.....won't happen but I can dream. :)
