This is the 70's, we were allowed to be color blind, and we made music that brought us together.
As it should ALWAYS be. The music was what mattered, and their music was FIRE. That horn section just kills it every time. It's impossible not to move when KC is playing.
amen
I came to make the same comment. I was color-blind. It was a wonderful way to grow up. Thankfully, I've moved back home and have renewed old friendships, both black and white. BTW, I'm in Mississippi, a state with a deserved reputation for racial conflict. Although, I've never witnessed it personally. It's probably because we are a small town. I know everyone and their parents, grandparents, kids, etc. It's hard to be prejudiced when you know someone 's grandmother and she's your neighbor. No segregated living here. Wish I had a time machine but I guess for now music is the best teleporter.
We are still color blind unless you belong to the Democratic Party
🇬🇧 You are correct, KC & TSB did sing "That's The Way I Like It". "Please Don't Go" "Shake Your Booty" & "Get Down Tonight", BANGERS. ❤🎶🎼
Don't forget Boogie Shoes!
Boogie nights?
Ha - when I was in HS.. our "dance team" had a routine to "Get Down tonight".. and somebody's MOM (we suspected one of the jealous cheerleaders) convinced the principal that it was "obscene".. so at the last day before the performance, we weren't allowed to dance to that song.. we all freaked... but our cool 20-something coaches said.. "that's okay.. we'll do the routine to 'That's the way I like it'" Which is the exact same song, and nobody had time to object.. only, funny thing is "that's the way" was probably more sexually suggestive that "get down tonight"... hilarious... lol
@@kpiperjror Give It Up
oh, I had such a crush on Casey. Those were my days of having to babysit my cousins on New Year’s Eve, and he was on Dick Clark’s to years eve a lot. I think my favorite was get down tonight of his songs. Boy, I thought he was one handsome dude. Thanks for the reaction.!!
Bell bottoms in the early 70's were a must. It was the fashion! 😊
They were wide enough that I was able to make little girl dresses for my friends kids after they went out of style. Cut a leg off and add a bodice and sleeves of another fabric.
Everyone wore bell bottoms at the time. It was a fad.
And do some serious 'bumping'! 😎
My dad was so cheap we never got bell bottoms until the late 70s in the bargain basement at Simpson Sears 😢 we still looked like badasses nonetheless! 😂
@@hectorsmommy1717 yeah it was a thing!
People can say what they want about Disco. Disco had no color. Disco was about the music and dancing. All inclusive. I miss the world of the 70's. And yes i wore bell bottoms, everyone did.
I love Disco. To this day I don't understand the hate.
Good times. Saw KC and the Sunshine Band in 1976 in Roanoke Virginia.
Good stuff. We really were colorblind back then. Too bad younger people think this is bad.
SUCH GOOD TIMES BEING 18YRS OLD IN 1974😊😊FOR A WOMAN WE ARE THE DANCING QUEEN 🦋 SO MUCH FUN AND I'LL EVEN TAKE THE DISCO BALL TOO...✨️✨️✨️🕊🕊🕊
Being 15 in 74’, disco was the absolute best. And other comments about not seeing color, absolutely true. Music knew no color, it was just good music.
This was the 70’s and 80’s. We didn’t give a crap about race.
No we didn't. We just wanted a friend.
Most of us still don't. COntent of character, not color of skin. That is how we were raised.
KC and the Sunshine Band produced bangers like a dance factory.
And very favored when played. Still is
Yeah, they've got Too Many great Hits to list.
The 70's was big on horn sections. KC, Earth Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, James Brown, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago etc. This is our jam. No high school dance was complete without KC's music blasting. Dance floor filling good time.
British acts were always big on brass, like Joe Jackson for one
Wow. Tower of Power. They used to play the fairgrounds in the 70s
For a while later in their careers Earth, Wind and Fire and Chicago were touring together, and apparently they still do sometimes. Oh, the horns! Tower of Power was from my home town. Oakland represent!
I was past High School and had joined the Army when KC was constantly on the air. I have happy memories of line dancing to KC and the Sunshine Band in the WAC Barracks lobby with the other girls. Good times at Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, NYC - 1976!
Can't forget Bee Gees
Other hits from them include "Boogie Shoes", "Get Down Tonight", "That's The Way (I Like It)", "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty", "Keep It Comin' Love" and "Give It Up."
This!
Queen Of Clubs is another, possibly my favourite!
Yep those are good songs too
Dude is 73 years old and still performing. Said it's easy to get down tonight, but getting back up again is hard...lol.
He's from Florida. When my sister was a nanny if Florida. She was hurrying down the sidewalk. She collided with someone. They reached down and helped her up. It was KC
Yep, he lived in Miami Lakes Florida
He lives In North Carolina at times In a town next to me near chapel hill
@terryconnelly484 in his hay day he was in Florida
@RebeccaGarrett-mq6vb yes he is somewhat retired and a little larger but he just played in Manteo on Memorial Day in North Carolina
I remember the golden years of the 70's and 80's where my country was colour blind...it was great. The divisive politics of today are tearing my country apart
Yes it was. I miss the times when we loved each other and our country and respected our parents.
What is lacking today is a good horn/ brass section!
Oh yes! Like Al Green!!!
Earth, Wind and Fire.
Its non existent in pop music, even more embarrassing where R&B made trillions of $ from the sounds of horns have abandon this type of music. Sad turn for music.
Back in 1978 straight out of high school I went to work for Disney world. I was minding my own business walking down the tunnels and felt the presence of a lot of people around me. I looked up and it was KC and the whole band walking out with me and he was the nicest person. They all were.
Dude is almost 80 and still plays live like he was in his 20s
We all will be " rocking" off this earth and I don't mean chairs. Lol
Get Down Tonight. That’s the Way I Like It. Please Don’t Go.
Yes yes yes yes yes please do that please do that please do that please do those songs that are welcome to the 70s😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, and I Get Lifted.
YES! My childhood right here; still have my Vinyl ❤🔥
Can't beat the vinyl.
We had the best era,our dance clubs were awesome and we danced with everyone, We all got along. I loved Bell Bottoms 😂❤
The 70’s was a decade that gave us the Greatest music of all time…Every Genre was the Best!
Not true. There's a reason why Disco was short lived and quickly died.
1 million percent CORRECT I WAS THERE
@@allengator1914
I hate to break it to you, every genre (which includes Disco...) is still alive and well!
Disco was around for well over a decade, having started in underground clubs in NYC, as early as 1970.
However, by all means, please elaborate on the reason why Disco was "short lived" - or, will you conveniently ignore your false claim...?
Boy, life was much more fun in the 70's. Wanna get everyone together, just play some good old music and get dancin'!
Boogie was a term for dancing and going to listen to disco and funk
I just saw them in concert about a month ago, he is 73 years old now and still performing. He is awesome and was a heart throb for all the girls when I was growing up including me!! He has always had a mix of blacks and whites in his band. I'm white and never thought a thing about it and still dont.
Yep I wore Bell bottoms and platform shoes....70's fashion!!
Probably 15 years ago KC and many newer Sunshine Band members played our local fair and it was all still banging. KC and the SB had nothing but happy music, always made you want to dance, even their slow songs.
It was great music to dance on in the seventies, in the disco. Those were the days. 🎶🎶👍😄
KC & the Sunshine Band: the ultimate roller-skating party music.
To "boogie" is to dance!
So yeah, if he's saying he's a boogie man he better get up and prove it!
Uh nooo, that’s not what he is referring to….
@@1BobsYourUncle
Yes he is.
@@JaquelineGoodspeed no, he isn’t. You people are naive…
boogie man- An honorific name given to Miami DJ Robert W. Walker by Harry Wayne Casey, "KC" of KC and the Sunshine Band, to thank him for giving Get Down Tonight lots of airtime and launching the Sunshine Band's career.
The hippy & disco era's were all about peace & inclusion, & race didn't matter whatsoever! I am not sure where it went wrong, but somewhere along the line, the division started again........I miss the 70's & 80's
Hip hugger bell bottoms to be exact with halter tops 😁 & the boogie music... fun fun fun!! This old hippie definitely appreciates the memories you bring up with your reactions. Thank you!! ❤ Keep on Truckin 😉 Us oldies will remember that saying. 😂
Be Safe & Blessings EVERYONE ❣️
10-4 good buddy! What we got here is a Convoy...C W McCall or Movin' On...Merle Haggard. Loved Bj and the Bear and Movin' On, wanted one of those long nose trucks!! Always made my own hip hugger elephant bells with lots of sparkle🤣🤣
You need to see some roller skaters dancing to this! Those were the days.
My parents found it funny when this song was out. I was 3y.o., singing "shake shake shake, shake your beauty, shake your beauty" having no idea what booty was 😂😂😂
Sara--same
Yes, I loved my bell bottoms and they're coming back
It's about time!
Yes! Every high school dance, every garage party, every Friday night radio session....ALWAYS included KC&TSB! Right? You can't NOT dance to this. Loved those good 'ol days of dance party vibes.
If you love horns, listen to any Chicago songs. Bell bottoms forever.
KC was pure Gold back in the day. The Sunshine Band is called that 'cause, they're from Florida, the Sunshine State. May sound crazy but, back then every Roller Skating Rink in the USA cranked this up to 11 on their Friday / Saturday night skate sessions. The roller-dancing was off the chart. Disco's were thumping to this. But, the band was falling behind on the changing times in Pop / Rock and Disco was dying. The New Wave sounds of the Cars, Blondie and the Knack were at the door. Fun Fact: KC and Sunshine band, due to have 10 members in the band, were having to split the royalties 10 ways. Granted, KC got 40% but that left 9 others splitting 60% or basically, each only getting about 6.67% of the "take" + a salary. Harder times came in the '80's and they never got the television airplay from MTV to keep them relevant. Still, their many hits live on.
The dancing horn players have always been my favorite part of this video. Very cool.
Me too.
Bell bottoms and hip hugger's!! They were so great. Loved my bell bottoms.
Bell bottoms were great. There were low waist hip hugger bell bottoms, too. They were great for disco dancing and sexy! The 70's were the best!
Back in the day to Boogie was to dance. So he's your dancing man or dance partner.
First right answer.
Exactly!
Boogie Man = DJ on the radio and at the clubs! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾 Whoever is putting the jams on!
their background brass and vocals are absolutely unbeatable. white and black making beautiful music together, love it
I loved bell bottoms and can't go wrong with KC and the Sunshine Band😊❤
This genre was known was "disco funk," and KC and the Sunshine band were one of the biggest at the time. Other tracks include "Get Down Tonight", "That's the Way (I Like It), "Boogie Shoes" (released in 1975), as well as "Shake Your Booty" and "Keep it Coming Love" (release in 1976), among others. Everyone wore bell bottoms at the time (you couldn't find straight leg pants at the time), but KC and the band were known for their technicolour and bedazzled disco outfits, and the brass sections' coordinated dance moves while playing. During one of their concerts (can't remember which one), one of the band members started busting a move centre stage, it was awesome. Back then, the 'Boogie man'' referred to the DJ, and 'boogie' was also a colloquial expression that meant "getting down" on the dance floor.
One of my most favorite concerts ever!! 1978 was a great year. 😁👍🎶 He handed me a red rose in the front row as he sang "Please Don't Go"! Let me tell ya... I swooned! Lol 😉
Oooh yes, takes me right back to middle school. Loved KC and the Sunshine Band. Yes, we all wore bell bottoms in the 70s, kids and adults. Belive it or not, they were actually really stylish in the day 🤣
I knew the moment I saw the title this was gonna be great! Lots of songs to choose from: Please Don’t Go, Shake Your Booty, That’s The Way, Keep It Comin Love, Boogie Shoes, Get Down Tonight etc… love the horns!❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Bell bottoms, silk shirt with big collar... high platform dress shoes... lol... yes, and we thought we looked sooooo good 😅😅
From Miami, FL. This was before Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine. Yes, miss the bell bottoms! They mean Boogie as in dancing.
I wore bell bottoms in those days. And yes, KC and the Sunshine Band were BIG back then. Thanks for remembering my younger years!
They had the best dancing music in the 70's. If you didn't dance if KC played you danced! So fun!
Please don’t go is one of my favorite KC & the Sunshine Band!
All those you just said are bangers!!!
Oh gosh I remember dancing to KC at the cocktail lounges back in the day. Fun times❤Stay safe
You should not be shocked that talent is universal
To hear the young generations this is the most racist country in the world. They WILL NOT believe you if you tell them we had very little racism by the time the 70's and 80's came around. All they have to do is research but they'd rather believe there is a white boogeyman under their beds.
It's not just American, not at all.
YES BELL-BOTTOMS 60'S & 70'S..........
“Shake Your Booty” was really good!
Friends and I would sit out in the country, we would party with KC And The Sunshine Band. lol. Guess I am telling my age now.
Heck yeah I wore hip higger bell bottoms with platform shoes....danced "The 4 Corners" ( A dance of the times) to Motown music and other R&B, Soul and Funk music. This is,my generation's music. Boogie Man in this song refers to the D.J. playing music to boogie ( dance) to......all night or day, whenever you want to dance.
Yes! That’s the way I like it🎉
Yes !! A great band from my teens and on !
KC was just fun music!
70s were all about the music everybody loved
No sound machines…all personally made music. Love it.
When KC & the Sunshine Band first his the airwaves, people lost their minds! It was fun, upbeat, and totally new! Then, imagine everyone's surprise when they found out that KC (Harry Wayne Casey) was a White dude from Florida! Just another blue-eyed soul brother from the 70s who changed music forever. :)
My Okie mother was a HUGE fan of KC & the Sunshine Band! She bought a light green van with a wet bar and swivel bucket seats, and an 8-track player with bomb-ass speakers, and her FIRST 8-track was KC! When she came to pick us up from school, our friends lost their minds! LOL!
KC and The Sunshine Band were so very awesome. They had a lot of hits. They were the epitome of Disco. Love your reaction!
Not many bigger disco bands from the 70's than KC and the Sunshine Band. His hits were monsters and played in every disco club on repeat. Good time music that got everyone on the dance floor and Boogied down. The man is still touring.
BP, I am a 68 year old white woman that absolutely wore low cut bell bottom jeans and pants made from any other fabric, LOL. And I dearly loved me some funky music, no matter the color. Really enjoy your videos. Sherry from Alabama.
Being a teenager in the 70's was the bomb! So many awesome memories!
Back in the day, I had such a crush on Harry Casey. Great smile. I went with my parents to see them play at the local Six Flags (before it was Six Flags in the mid 70s. The arena was packed, and we sat in the next to top row. My Dad was an old time musician, he was a pianist/band leader of a big band in the 1930s. He loved these guys! He loved the horn section choreography! They were amazing. 💜💜💜
That's The Way (I Like It)
Please Don't Go
(Shake shake shake) Shake Your Booty
Get Down Tonight
Boogie Shoes
Keep It Coming Love
KC and the Sunshine Band had a stack of hits
Oh man! My childhood in the disco era! I even saw KC in concert in late 70s! You physically just HAVE TO move with these songs!
We tore this up in the local disco's back in the 70's.
Aaahhhh yes, Skate Ranch, yes, awesome big bells, Farrah hair, "that braless look, very little makeup...❤❤❤ a wonderful time to grow up, the 70's! 😊
Actually going to see them next month. My first show was when I was 14, way back in the 70s. Have seen them several times in between. Fun music.
See, in the 70s we didn’t see color! Everyone was the same no matter your skin color. There was probably SOME racism but for the most part everyone just came together for great music! The racism in this country today is horrible. Some people just can’t let things go!
Brings me right back to the late 70's when I was in college dancing to some of the greatest music ever created. We were blessed.
I transitioned to what ever music era that was new. I went Soul music, Groovin' the music, Psychedelic music, Rock music, Soft Rock, Heavy Metal music, Head Bagging music, New Wave Music & more. I had the best time to enjoy it all. And yes I went Disco and my sister who is younger then me taught me how to dance Disco. I went to clubs & danced and went to the Roller Ring and danced disco on Roller Blades. I tell ya the mid 60's, all of the 70's & to mid 80's was the best Era of all. I got to live through it all & witness so much. Hell of a ride it was.
Everyone wore bellbottoms in the 60s/70s! KC & The Sunshine Band were so much fun to dance to back then! Thanks for another great reaction, BP! ✌💙✌
That horn section is so funky my dog AND my cat were in the den bobbing around like they were in a disco, lol.
The expression was worth 1000 words - take that Pegasus - BAM! This one is fire - love the horns.
In the 70's the word "boogie" was to dance. I was too young to go to the clubs when he had all the hits but I sure had fun dancing to this band in the living room.
BP... KC & the SB are EXCELLENT! Every song is a dance banger. I was born in 1969 and they were their most popular from 1974-1976. I loved dancing to their music! My aunt that was only 6 years older than me taught me all the disco dances. Hell, 54 yo. and I still kick it. I have always LOVED them so much! They have so MANY hits!
Saw them and Santana together in the 70’s in concert. Best concert I ever went to in all my yrs. Great show! BOOGIE!
KC was always smiling. I love that. It seemed like he was always having a wonderful time.
KC always bringing the Heat. Can't sit still and stop smiling.
They ushered in the Disco Era and were great entertainers live. They had unbelievable energy and were a treat to watch. At that time we called them "refreshing".
‘Keep It Coming Love’ is one of my favorites of KC and the Sunshine Band.
They were all over the radio in the '70s. Big hits were "Get Down Tonight," "That's The Way I Like It," and "Shake Your Booty." Definitely a disco and "Boogie Nights" vibe, all right.
Just have a feeling you're gonna DIG THIS ONE: JUST 'cause it's a TOTAL JAM!!! LOVE THIS SONG!! HUGS, BP!!!
Seen KC and the Sunshine Band last year. Still killing it and everyone up in dancing at the concert the whole show. Gotta love it!!
Gotta remember this was after the 60's free love and the young didn.t give a crap about color, we believe in hearts and souls. This was 1 of my 1st 8 tracks. Still love it!! And KC had a fine butt....LOL
The lighted dance floor was always packed for this band's songs. Great times.
They're a fun band and they even made you laugh, BP! ha ha. Their songs are upbeat and were great to dance to! Bell bottoms were cool (groovy) and the style in the mid to late 1960s into the early to mid 1970s. I loved my bell bottoms!! Thanks for a great time!!
finally, some KC...I miss the Olympia beer commercials with the Artesians celebrating Artesian New Year, and the beat of KC down in the hole, then confetti blowing out.
Hip hugger bell bottoms was it! K C and the Sunshine Band was just how it was. Great music. People of today could definitely learn a thing or two researching just how it was back then!
A lot of people used the term boogie to go dancing, like "let's go boogie at the disco tonight". Another fun 70's disco song to check out is Silver Convention "Get Up and Boogie".
Boogie man means he is a dancing man, ready to get down and boogie anytime of the day as in dancing.
I loved my bell bottoms and miss them. Especially my hip hugger bell bottoms.
Yes! Check out Le Freak by Chic. My sister and my song back then. I have it as her ringtone.
Growing up in the 70s and 80s, Boogie was the thing and used in so many great songs in the Disco era, but what a great time to be growing up. Thankfully we will have these gems forever. I wore bell bottoms as did everyone in my school. It was the style back then. Would I wear them now? NO LOL
My absolute favorite of theirs is "Boogie Shoes." That song will make you dance!
Yeah, I rocked them bell bottoms, loved them! It wasn't about efficiency, it was about being cool! Great workout songs from KC &TSB.
