Conversely that means our peripheral only has very minor detail to analyse, so there is less time needed to process the changes in sensory information. Second is where this is useful in an evolutionary sense, which is protection from predators, specifically ambush predators. If there is something hiding and waiting to pounce on us, if we are looking directly at it we are more likely to spot it because of specific details not matching up (this is also one of the reasons we are so good at spotting eyes in random patterns). However, if it is in our peripheral, we can't rely on details, so we will only be able to spot them once they pounce. The difference between 300ms reaction and 250ms reaction would sometimes be the difference between surviving and not surviving.

This is because you don't have colour cones, just light receptors, in the area of your eye reasonable for peripheral vision. The colours you do 'see' are actually your brain overlaying it with known information. This is why there is less 'processing time', as Zig put it, with the same evoluntionary reasoning; you don't care if it's an orange tiger or blue tiger jumping out of a bush in the dark at you, you just want to know that there's a tiger there.

In case anyone was actually interested. The reason why it's easier to react to stimuli in your peripheral vision is because you mainly use Rods to see at the edge of your field of view. The signals Rods transmitt is a lot less complex and can be processed quite a bit faster, given they only react to bright and dark. You don't react to the green colour but to the change of colour.
For the reaction time being better with your peripheral vision. Your sight is only good for fine detail in a small area in the center of your vision. Obviously the finer detail takes more mental processing time. Peripheral vision on the other hand only really cares about general shape and motion perception. So ultimately you're faster reacting to stimuli from the side of your vision because you don't have to think about it as much.
5:44 Because when we focus we actually tense the eyes and body. You're actually kinda calling anxiety, getting into fight or flight response. When you tap into your peripheral vision, the vagus nerve gets stimulated, which relaxes you, improving reaction response. That's why getting anxious in a fight is no good. It's different from being completely relaxed, but being freaked out in an emergency situation... just gets you in more trouble. Relaxation is key! If you were more relaxed while doing the reaction test, you would have probably scored lower. Just look straight into the screen but be conscious about your surroundings. Opening your senses help.

Also the damage you reflect don't depend of the amount of damage you receive, but of the number of hits you take. Death dance helps you make the combat longer and that's what you want here. The longer, the more you heal and the more damage they take.

The reason it’s faster when you stare at it from the corner of your eye is cause when your stare at it, your eyes will naturally focus on the 3 dots in the center to disappear vrs staring at the green to show up which is slower then watching for the green screen. But when you are staring from the corner of your eyes can only focus on the color so instead of responding to the dots you’re responding the actual color changing which is faster
It looks pretty good to me, holding out against those champs, I think the only place he's lacking is wave clear against some of these solo laner champs when on his own, maybe they could revise it factoring that in, maybe an early Tiamat to get rid of later, not sure it'd help him in the long run, or some way to get more mana to be able to use abilities for a bit of clear, idk, not sure how int that'd be but seems logical as a quick patchwork thought

Fun fact, for a very long time it was thought peripheral vision had poor color perception, because the early studies did not account for the distortion of light caused by the lens reducing the amount of light that reaches the retina the farther away it is from the fovea
The reason your W hit that minion against the Renekton is because he was in the middle of his Q animation when you had cast it, and the minion was right behind him. His targeting area had moved mostly out of your cursors frame and the minion was taking up most of it instead in that moment. tl;dr you W'd at an unlucky time
