Crazy I just seen this comment. I didn't even know he died so recent. After peewee Herman's death today, I went down a rabbit hole, Phil Hartman, then brodin, which led me to this clip. Came full circle today with deaths.
I saw this movie as a kid in the 90s. However, now as a working adult, the Captain shows signs of being a great boss who’s caring and attentive to his employees. He listens to the feedback of his team and implements new techniques to improve in order to motivate them to operate at their best. Respect Captain.
Yeeees!! He's a darling 😢 I had a boss like that once. Sometimes when the office was quiet, it was a small office too, and he was on the phone to one of his daughters who had some troubles and I'd hear him say, "But sweetheart", "oh, sweetheart," 😢💜💌 He was the CEO. And so knowing was he.
I had a boss like this. The guy was so nice that we wouldn't take shit for him on his behalf. He would see everything from an almost innocent view on life. But a great boss, we worked very hard for him and did everything he asked.
These scenes should be taught in acting classes as examples of perfect comic timing. LaPaglia and Arkin work so well together, a shame we didn’t see more of them
Some comedian, I forget who, could do a perfect Alan Arkin impersonation. He'd call up other celebrities and (as Alan Arkin) invite them to stay over for the weekend (at the real Alan's house). So that comedian was on TV and he got a phone call, "Can I have my life back please" was what the real Alan Arkin said.
This film was a sequence of amazing performances by Alan Arkin, Michael Richards, Charles Grodin, and Phil Hartmann, gracefully supported by Anthony Lapaglia and Nancy Travis, and in between them a bunch of time wasted by a some guy trying too hard to be entertaining with all his favorite silly voices and faces.
RIP Alan Arkin. A truly gifted actor. I will never not laugh at the word Quorum
A quorum, so to speak... i laugh every time too.
This is my first time watching this scene. It was all funny, but the quorum line really got me. 😂
After hearing about his passing today this character he played was the first thing that came to mind, he was brilliant in this, rip x
I did the exact same thing
Me too!
Me three. Also kudos to the writing- the tone also reminds me of the Milwaukee history lesson from Alice Cooper in Wayne’s World.
This and Jerky Boys.

Alan Arkin was the greatest
I would watch an entire movie about these two.
They deserved a spin off
Well at least we have the Pentaverate
“Was it too much with the ethnic slurs…..?” 🤣🤣
RIP Mr Arkin.
"Not now, not now!" 😂😂😂
Even though Alan Arkin scenes add up to almost 4 minutes of the entire film he sure is the best part of the movie
I love this movie so much! How could I have forgotten about these scenes?

omg that moment when Anthony Lapaglia says 'A quorum??' incredulously, so funny.
“Yes I know that part.” RIP Captain

One of the all time greats Rip
"Somebody needs a HUG!!" Thank you, Alan Arkin. RIP.
My gosh Alan Arkin was so naturally funny.
This is a underrated film.
So funny.
You're too nice.
"Now that sounds like a lot of fun" priceless
I’m convinced, there isn’t a bad scene in this movie
This is one of the most underrated comedies of all time." We have a pipe-a down, i repeat a pipe-a down. Dont worry, he's just pissed"
We just re-watched last night. It's just full of gems.
When it first came out, I thought it was trash. But as an adult, this movie is brilliant and fckn hilarious!
Look at that boys heed. It's like an orange on a toothpick....
This movie is HILARIOUS!!
This is outstanding. These two and the parents are the greatest things about this movie.
Mike Meyers played his own father, we got an even earlier preview of Shrek....LOL.
The captin is funny . We needed to see more of him
Alan Arkin. Holy smokes did he own this. The In-Laws too.
"Somebody needs a hug!"
Dammit, he was so fucking good in everything. The performance turns in this-- showcasing range in just a handful of minutes.
RIP Alan
DON'T YES CAPTAIN ME!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
RIP Alan Arkin.... I loved this bit from the movie.
Now that sounds like a lot of fun
I'm going to miss Alan Arkin. Such a great presence.
R.I.P. Alan Arkin, just loved him in this film. Just fantastic.
Not that the rest of the cast was bad or anything, they were all really good. Still, Alan Arkin was the best thing about this movie!

Alan Arkin is also great in Grosse Pointe Blank as Martin’s (John Cusack’s) shrink
R.I.P. Alan Arkin
RIP, Mr. Arkin
This movie is so underrated.
A quorum??!
The disappointment on his face and in his voice, as he sadly realizes the truth.
When I was sitting in class after watching this and laughing my ass off to myself.
I couldn’t believe it when I found out he was Australian! 😄🇦🇺🐨
Alan Arkin was brilliant. 😆😆
Rest In Peace Alan Arkin 😇🙏
Arkin lives in Santa Fe. Saw him one night leaving the Lensic Theater.
He was brilliant in this role. He was good in anything, I really liked the small role he played in Grosse Point Blank.
RIP Alan Arkin 😢😢😢
Rest easy Alan. I enjoyed your work
I love Alan.
Rest in Piece Alan Arkin.
That detective worked his way up to Special Agent in the FBI in the Missing Persons Unit.
And got very scarred and damaged in the process.
“DON’T YES CAPTAIN ME!”
brilliant!
And that guy would later go on to “Without A Trace”. Great show.
He's complaining about wanting his Captain to Ride him
And Captain comes in And does just that
Soooo good
What a great boss
"We all got these friends!"
He looked exactly the same 20 years later in Argo 🫨🙂
Gotta be the cosyiest police cap in Hollywood history
What movie is this from lol
The movie is called "So I Married an Axe Murderer."
AWESOME
I've never hung on to that!
I agree...... Boss shouldn't be nice
"Now that sounds like a lot of fun..."
IM 2 NICE?

Didnt think Steward the Scottish Dad played by Meyers deserved an award? That was the funniest character I had seen in years.
The dad was awesome but the charlie character sucked and the main story line was boring. This is a movie best watched in youtube clips
Well Truth Of the matter is I don’t report to a commissioner.
@@stevefrank3599 YEAH!
@@jmosby84 Captain, when I joined the police force, I thought I was going to be Serpico. But instead, I'm like... Fish from Barney Miller
Yes, I know that part 😂
This is easily Mike Myers best movie
Yes I know that part.
Also very child / adult appropriate.
1:45
"too much with the ethnic slurs?"
Yes I know they part😂😂
Now that sounds like a lot of fun
He look like Paul Mitri in Phantasmagoria 2
Ahhh...hey
No... Simple and refined comedic timing.
What movies is this?
"so I married an ax murderer" is the name of the movie.
Ahhh...Pie-zahn..
Grandpa 👴👴👴👴👴
