In this video I show you how to make the scream synth similar to Skrillex, Dillon Francis, Datsik
The preset (plus more) is available for free by heading over to my facebook page and going to the "Free Massive Presets" Tab Видеоклипы
@linkward This is what I love to see people helping other people in the production community
Only massive tutorial for these kind of sounds that actually sounds good. nice one craig
Great tutorial mate, been looking for this sound for ages!!!
Thank you and God bless. Finally a good tutorial for that sound I've been looking for!!!
Thank you so much! I've been looking for hours for a tutorial on how to make this exact sound!
BEST TUTORIAL ON THIS! AND THE FIRST TUTORIAL! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
That sound is amazing! and the tutorial was so easy to follow, thank you! :)
THX DUDE!!! this really helped me!!
I have learnt most of what I know from teaching myself. The rest was made up from reading articles following tutorials and learning the basic fundamentals of synthesis. At the end of the day it has been time. The more you use the synth, mix your project or produce your track the better you will get.
@Onemanpwnage nice thats what I like to hear using the techniques to make your own sound!!!!!
I used the same technique for re-creating this sound with massive!
Came up with a few of them in my style.
really great tutorial! i was always wondering how skrillex made that sound
hahaha thats awesome man! :D great tutorial.
I noticed that if you record that synth, and reverse it, its exactly like one of the synths in First of the Year by Skrillex :D NAICE!
man great tuto !!!!!
@overthetop7255 thank you for watching glad you liked it
@ahutber thank you for watching glad you liked it.
Thanx for the help!!great video
Very good tutorial! Thanks a bunch :)
@surfthecentre check the volume of the filter (to the right of the filter) also check the mix slider just to the right of the two filters.
sick i been researching this stuff.. gonna start to make music soon.. ive been doing rnb and funk but man i love this shit.. :D thanks bro
Love it, thumbs up, subed. Thanks!
great tutorial man!
@ptubeyall mine is 1.3 it might have something to do with older versions try updating it and give it another go.
Literally all of my tracks i made in middle school were based around this bass from this tutorial lmao
Amazing recreation of the sound ( Just like in Fire Hive) :)
You just earn one more subscriber sir!
Pleas make more of this modern Massive Dubstep recreation sounds like Knife Party, Kill The Noise, Far Too Loud....
Tnx for this tutorial, and in advance :)
ALL THE BEST!
@portumadre thanks for watching. Another viewer picked up on the filter that was my mistake. As for the P shaper I'll have another look. I thought i might have changed the routing of the FX but we live and learn
thanks man helped so much! :D
@backw4rdsmarath0n I don't quiet understand what you mean, are you talking about pushing the caps lock to allow you to use your keyboard to control the synth?
@TheSubNoise It's a all in one distortion, compressor, filter with some added bit's. I'm sure that you could do the same thing in Ableton, if there are any Ableton users out there that would like to help on this feel free to post.
@craigwilliamsmusic I'd say dead on bud. good job
wow great response, thats the position where i am right now haha. Im starting to learn how to use ableton and get all technical with synths and stuff. great videos:]
Good work on tutorial . we like it.Kult of Krameria
@dasoldier02 at what point did it not sound the same. I played the sound at different points of the tutorial did it sound the same then or was it nothing like my sound the whole way through
have you made a video on making this sound in FM8 I would like to see what you did to achieve the same sound.
@ashtonsamuel The program is Logic and the Synth is NI Massive
@XxXDevilRejectsXxX not really you can hear in the video that the sound is pretty much all made in Massive I just add the additional plug-ins to boost the overall sound and make it a little thicker.
@rickychardzz hmmmm i'm not sure why that is. What version of massive are you using, I know that the older versions sound slightly different but apart from that i'm not sure why you can't reproduce the sound.
It will feel like your getting nowhere for a while due to the amount you have to learn to get a basic understanding but it's well worth it. Just read everything and follow along with tutorials. Once you have this understanding you can use the techniques to shape your own sound.
@mortimustroy your welcome, glad to help
@dasoldier02 what about @5:50 are you asking about the macro????
wow great tutorial, would u mind telling me how u learned about all this? i wanna learn to do it all myself someday. again, great video
Great tutorial man... do you have the default sound preset?
I made everything has you said and it sounds quite different...
I hope you can help me... Thanks and keep going with good tutorials...
Thank you Craig, that was a fantastic tutorial, where did you find out how to make this patch? Was it passed down to you, or did you stumble upon it yourself? Thanks again Craig I really appreciated the tutorial!
REALLY HELPFULL...THANX
No sweat mate. Happy programming!
@h2ociscokid the program is Logic by apple
@michaelgorczyca is it the updated version? Did you attach the envelope to the right section?
@Tr0ll321 thanks for watching, I think the sound is pretty close to the mark.
Well said my friend
great video@ thank you! Whats the best way you've found to automate changing the Pitch? When I play lower keys it doesn't sound as good. When you adjust how much the envelope affects the filter frequency it seems to change the pitch a lot nicer but though I've tried playing with it I'm not sure if there's a way to automate or adjust the amounts the envelopes are affecting the filter frequency?
great video thanx :)
SICK!
refreshing to hear an aussie haha good tuturial man!
awesome tutorial! Is there a way to do this in the ES2 instead of massive?
@BassChanter at what stage does your sound differ from mine in the tutorial?
I'm using logic too i just had to put it in the zero octave and it was good. make sure restart gate isn't checked and the max is at 1.
You Rock buddy
@H3xTOxTHExZ it's all good thanks for the input :)
you sir... are a boss! thanks a heap, i use cakewalk sonar 8.5 and all of their built in wavetables are pretty rubbish, but yeah, cheers for the tutorial mate.
Thanks for watching. I'm thinking about doing a whole sample pack with presets for massive/sylenth when I hit 2000 followers on my facebook page. I still have a ways to go but it's going to take me a bit of time to get the pack together.
thank you
i thought the same thing, but if you do what he says then turn the first osc down 2 octaves it sounds pretty close!
:D
best tips for me people new to massive.
I could probably have a go but I find the ES2 lags a little when it comes to bass sounds or even sounds with lots of low end.
Thanks for your time and this tutorial. Although, it seems like you are not conscious of what these knobs are doing... You say the bandpass filter adds bass but the volume of fltr1 is all the way down! How do you hear a difference with the Para.Shaper when the insert is off? Not to mention that if you wanna play a melody (like skrillex/knifeparty), the filtr has to be tuned and you have to use keytrack... I'll keep looking for what I was looking for. next
@ptubeyall what version of massive are you running
If you have a mac go to applications>native instruments>service centre and open the app. From there it will scan your native instruments products and show you which ones need updating and then give you the download links. If your on a PC i'm not 100% sure where these folders are located.
you know it!!!!!
When you are finished building this sound in Massive, add a second oscillator and set it to Modern Talking. Put the first envelope on the WT Position (which is at 2 o'clock) and turn the envelope all of the way up. Add a Bitcrusher in the second insert slot, and turn the drive all of the way up in the P Shaper. This makes an epic grinding sound that I'm now using in my productions.
Ya you gotta update your massive, Id buy it. I bought it and its great because you get all the updates no problem
@Magnifikate thanks for sharing
I've made something similar to this. But I like this version a lot too. Think you could put up a patch download craig?
rly nice tutorial bro !
got a question, for what is this "camelphat" exactly? And, is there anything similar to this in Ableton?
thnx, and big up !
Great Turtorial but just so you know, the second filter and the second effect instance at the bottom arent activated so they wont send a signal to the output, just a little tip :) This helped me loads tho! Ty!
@backw4rdsmarath0n Glad I could help :D
Yeah, couldn't help but notice that your filter two is actually all the way off.. I was going to mention your parabolic shaper being off too, but you fixed that.
I find that massive has the best sound for this but I'm sure there are a couple of other synths you can do it with.
yay!
This is actually more like the bass Knife Party used for "Fire Hive". You should change the title. You'll get a ton more views. I've been looking for this sound for AGES. And I'm sure a lot of people are looking for it too. :)
Hey man, I was wondering about the same, but the only thing you gotta do is to set the Pitch on "drive II" to around -24 :) solved my problem! But I have no idea why it sounds like that in the video without the pitch setting :s Hope it helped you guys !
haha yeah thats how i felt up until recently, like right now im at a point where im really beginning to understand and get comfortable with all the technical sides of producing lol.
swag im gonna kick this track's ass now thanks this is all i needed
yeah you did something realy diffrent.. i folowed it step b step and it sounds totaly diffrent.
i have a question, i was able to recreate the sound but for some reason after a few notes are played the sound become overly distorted and doesnt have that high pitch effect, what can i do on massive to reduce that secondary distorted part and keep it at the high pitch the entire time
@beatsbyevo hahahahaha the sound pretty much comes from massive you can do it in any DAW
@craigwilliamsmusic Thanks
hahahahaha thanks man glad you like it.
If you have trouble with sound try making the pitch -30, that's the sound he's got but it's different on mine.
look in the description there is some details on how to download this and some other presets from my facebook page.
you may get a different sound if you started from a different patch than he did. i have to go check but I don't believe that using "New Sound" actually resets massive.
I just made it myself by listening to the original sound and having a little play around on massive.
If you are using fl studio Make your root note in the piano roll c7 or c8 to get a nice deep sound like his
thanks for the tip I might add knife party into the title.
If you're on FL Studio, use a parabollic EQ 2 instead of the logic equaliser. :)
How would i put them in .KSD form? it's not showing them when i load in from plugin. ):
Using Fruity loops, i really could use a the climb bass.
can you pleaaase make the woop synth from goin hard by skrillex?
have you tried updating Massive?
Omg so awsome sound of it (L)
@mcatsoc just go select new sound and you should be good to go.
I am also in logic. i was hitting the exact note you were and i didn't get the same sound at all, and its very basic i didnt miss anything you said/clicked in the tutorial and somehow i didnt get the same sound. I have no A/U's or any kind of eq attatched to massive either i was just using massive in logic like you were and yea somehow i didnt get the same sound
