When enough of you keep asking me for the SAME THING I try to listen...so here we go; Steam Deck coverage! But of course this is a retro gaming channel so it's not like we are going to talk about modern PC Gaming on the Steam Deck...we are going to talk about retro emulation...more specifically GameCube emulation!

On today's Steam Deck video I will go over how to get Nintendo Wii games running on your Steam Deck via Dolphin Emulation. Note: This is for Wii only and I will dis a GameCube version earlier as while both video game consoles use the same emulator...the setup process varies in many ways! Dolphin is an amazing emulator and the Steam Deck is an amazing piece of hardware...but there are some extra steps here! Changing thread count via PowerTools for EmuDeck 2, dealing with aspect ratios, etc etc.
But if you follow the process you will get your Nintendo Wii emulation up and running on the Steam Deck in no time!
(Note: You can also download the stand alone Dolphin emulator and NOT go through Emu Deck 2 if you really don't want to)
Again I recommend getting a Dock for your Steam Deck as the process is MUCH easier that way!

For Wii games that have multiple controller options but default to the Wiimote + Nunchuk, how do I change toe controls for that if I don't want motion controls?

I have a problem with original Wii motion plus and games like Wii sports resort and Red stell 2. IT looks like Wii motion plus is not recognize. Do you have any solution for this?
What about wiiware games? Im trying to play pokemon rumble, but its sees it as a classic controller connected and needs it disconnected, it will only play as a wiimote

Hey, maybe you can help me out, I cannot get the emulator to work using my steam deck controllers, The games start but I have to end up shutting the system down because none of the button's work. The emulator doesn't recognize the steam deck controls.
Same issue here, did you find a solution?
Try resetting the config in emudeck on desktop mode
If anyone was wondering the guy who made cryo utilities also made a RUclips video testing the different docks and the ivolar is the best one, even better than the official dock. I bought it and I have no issues except for a wireless dongles not working unless you turn the dock around so that the port's face out.

Wii would like to play! I put the Konami ReBirth games on my Steam Deck. Still have them on my Wii U, but it's nice to have them in a fully portable handheld.

I've had issues on Castlevania Rebirth where the A button both jumps and whips and nothing I do in the options seems to stop this. Any ideas?
Try rebinding in the steam OS menu and see if that helps

You need to set a Sufo password first yes
Noticed you have 3D Dot Game Heroes on the steam deck. How does it play for you? I have been trying to get that game to work for so long that I just gave up. I even had it Patched with its latest update and still It freezes after the dream sequence and you go through a screen transition.
Freezes. It was one of the examples of “check compatibility before adding” as yes I’ve always had it freeze too

I have a m1 MacBook Air, will I need a windows PC/laptop to set up the files needed the Wii emulation for my steam deck?
No. Just transfer them like you would on windows :)

My steam rom manager does not show my installed game files, they are in the right folder. What can I do
Are the file names normal names? Something the rom manager understands? Like “No More Heroes” and now “ax278blahblah”

It wasn’t parsing them. If you put a game in that isn’t the games name it won’t pull a match

Honestly never expect great performance. This is pushing the Deck well beyond what’s probably possible at full speed
Does anybody else's New Mario bros game run like crap? Mines is very laggy and sound is very muffled. I'm using Dolphin on the Steamdeck via Emudeck😢
