      @trogdorstrngbd 3 года назад +3

      @@cannedbeverage7687 It doesn't have to be done all at once. Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, etc. all sync in the background. Free USB sticks these days could even be enough. All I'm saying is that if _some_ of the data has any real importance to you, there's no excuse not to make some sort of backup. But there is definitely no reason to go full Linus and store petabytes of data just to maybe use 0.01% of it again in the future.

    • @cannedbeverage7687

      @@trogdorstrngbd So if I understand what you're saying, I can put a file to upload on Google Drive and it'll keep uploading even after I turn off my PC? Also, on what planet do they give out free USB flash drives?

    • @trogdorstrngbd
      @trogdorstrngbd 3 года назад +2

      @@cannedbeverage7687 Well no, it can't upload while your PC is off, but it will do whatever it can in the background while you're using the computer. Since it's not downloading, it's rare for most people to notice any effect from this on their internet browsing. USB sticks are given out as part of promotional events sometimes, especially at universities and higher-end malls. But regardless you can get a 128 GB drive for $20 on Amazon.
      EDIT: Also, I understand that people have different unique situations, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't leave your PC on overnight sometimes and have it fall asleep when done.

    I once took all my keys off my keyboard, put them into a plastic bag, then filled the bag up with water and dish liquid. I shook the keys up in the bag as well to sort of mix it, then drained the bag of water, making sure to keep the keys inside the bag. After that, I kept filling the bag with water and diluting the dish liquid until there was no more dish liquid in the bag. I then let the keys dry overnight. Not sure if this was smart or not, but it worked for me.

    Something I noticed a few years back was if I put at least one layer of yellow type J-Cloth over all the intake vents I get almost no dust at all inside my desktop computer. After a year I check and not a speck of dust so that maybe something you might want to recommend as well. It does not promote ventilation problems and the PC still runs at normal temps and gets plenty of airflows. Works for me. That's of course if your computer is a desktop and does not otherwise have any air intake filters.
    As for laptops, I don't know how that would work as I have never owned a laptop, tablet, or even an iToy type phone. No one needs the internet on a 6-inch screen Sheesh! I was wondering what kind of juice to use on the TV screen for cleaning, I just use water and a microfiber cloth about once a year. Thought about using vinegar but changed my mind. That works great on eyeglasses but I don't know what the hell my TV screen is made of, it sure as hell is not typical glass. So I don't trust anything but water and even that is very sparingly used. Just dampness and a wipe down. So far that's worked fine. THX ThioJoe your tips are always very useful and even entertaining.

    last keyboard I cleaned....
    Me: take the keys off
    Me: wash the keys
    Me: clean the board
    Me: dry the keys
    Me: buy a new keyboard, the one I was cleaning never came back together.

    If you don't have an actual keyboard removal tool, I've found that a flathead screwdriver works pretty well. Better than using a pen cap or, god forbid, getting them off using your fingers, anyway!

    11:10 IMPORTANT: ThioJoe assumes you have a mechanical keyboard with removable keys. I DO NOT recommend using a key puller or any other method to remove your keys without checking your manual first. If you know that you have a mechanical keyboard then you should be OK, but MEMBRANE KEYBOARDS and LAPTOP KEYBOARDS should not be disassembled. You are far more likely to break something and/or lose parts since those keyboards are not designed to handle cleaning.
    The best you can do with membrane and/or butterfly switch keyboards is stand them up so their narrow face rests on a table, then blast the crap out of them with canned air, starting at the top and working your way down. Anything that won't easily fit through the gaps between the keys will land on the bottom, fall flat, and then it should come right on out.

    You may also want to go into the C: drive and run the disk defrag and disk cleanup tools.

    3:20 Alternatively, you can open Run (Win+R) and type shell:startup to enter the C:\User\Appdata...... Folder

    One hint: I use a foot-operated air-mattress pump (the dome kind) to blow the dust out. Not only does it do a good job getting rid of the dust-bunnies, but I also get a good cardio workout.

      I don't take kindly to not-so-veiled threats.
      The reason I posted this, is that it is a technique I use to clear out the dust-bunnies in my computer. Somehow, this put your panties in a bunch. I have no control over what triggers it takes to make you offended. Perhaps, professional help is in order to control your anger-management issues.

    Joe, why are most gaming monitors with matte coatings? when glossy has better image quality because matte messes up with how light leaves the panel, I know glossy has a major flaw of reflections, but I find it ironic that devices which we use outside like phones, tablets etc are glossy but gaming monitors in my man cave need to be matte. Even tv's in living rooms which are more prone to lighting are glossy.
