In this video, I demonstrate how to turn a rough dragon egg shape into a smooth, polished shape using a lathe. I started by attaching the rough egg shape to a glue block and mounting it onto the lathe. Then, I used a variety of turning tools to shape the egg into a smooth, symmetrical shape. Along the way, I encountered some air bubbles in the epoxy and oak gall, which I filled with CA glue and brass shavings.
After I finished turning the egg, I sanded it down using a variety of sandpaper grits to remove any rough spots and achieve a smooth surface. I also shaped the egg a bit more by hand and sanded it down thoroughly. This is an important step in the process, as it prepares the egg for the finishing stage. Overall, this is a fun and challenging project that requires some woodworking skills and patience, but the end result is a unique and beautiful dragon egg that you can be proud of.
