So even with that it has a usable capacity of 387 pounds. So, if we are just comparing that alone and not all the other features the Prowler wouldn’t hold two average adult men, much less any motors, batteries or fishing gear. If it came with a rudder and steering, I could almost justify 3k. The PWR 129 is a reasonable offering and great value. This boat loses it luster when it comes to the lack of value and being nickel and dime’ed on such a high cost bare boat!

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  Месяц назад

      It’s not bare, it comes with everything you need and the same foot pedals and steering that the PWR currently comes with. The rudder was left off to keep the cost down because in our experience with the PWR, a large majority of the people are removing it to use the foot steering to steer a stern mounted motor. You can never make everyone happy, but this boat is a great value for all that it does come with and if you include the upgraded steering that cost, though it’s “included” is almost tripled by the time it makes it to a dealer.

    • @ThomasShue
      @ThomasShue Месяц назад

      @@ChadHooverFishing included upgraded steering? As to the Rudder, it should be standard for those who start with a bow mount motor and be included like the per 129 at a cost of almost $3,000. The Price and lack of a rudder, motor plate and make it a hard trigger pull for me. The new Wilderness that is wired and comes with all the bits and pieces seems is the trend all manufacturers should be following, and where I thought Bonified was going to continue to go with the example they created with the 129. I get it, not everyone can be made happy, however by removing the nickel and dime perception, it might open a few more wallets. I still get my buy this boat, but like I said, I not excited about the way they have priced and selling this boat at all! Also consider what you get for similar money with an old town autopilot. Way more value IMO

    As a family guy, I need something more like this. But, with that said I see a lack of commitment to the overall design of this vessel. Who cares what it’s called kayak / fishing kayak / personal watercraft. You’re on the verge of building something “I” want to buy. And sells is what’s needed to keep any business going. So..with that said I have to ask why isn’t the front rear hatch closest to the seat made with a back level wall? Why was it cut out to have a space to reach in between the hatch and the wall? I’d rather had a flat level wall so u could have made it into dry storage or made it into a cooler or livewell/bait well. I would’ve rigging up a pump and a stand pipe to let water pump in from the scupper to the level of the stand pipe and let it overflowed out the stand pipe. Worried about water weight, or it being harder to paddle? I’m fishing not paddling we’re pulling 100plus pounds of gear top side trying to balance it from falling out thanks to lack of internal storage. And 400lbs worth of people on top of that. I’ll let my guest have the spare paddle and we’ll paddle together lol or better yet I’ll let the motor do all the work so I can fish.
    The lack of a raise rear back deck” is my biggest gripe with this watercraft. Why did you stop?? Why wasn’t it made to match the front? I want a raised rear area to match the front with storage with hatch top access just like the front. Maybe make this watercraft 14ft long and 50plus inch’s wide in the rear to give us a better standing platform/ insulation ice chests to keep longer body fish on ice, or a livewell/ baitwell. A place to add the seating up there on the “raised rear”. With a couple storage hatch box options and a nice elongated middle hatch to put them longer red fish on ice. I like to take both my small kids with me. They need a place to seat. I need a place to add in a battery, a cooler, a livewell/baitwell a place to keep fish on ice ,storage for my tackle, and gunnel rod storage. I wanna rig up and leave it where I put it whether I’m on the water or towing at home or to the lake. Clean deck! No boxes, bags, tackle boxes, ice chest, batteries, and so on to trip on. Leave it stored in a closed hatch into I need it. Make it stable to walk to the front to the rear to get to all my stuff stored inside the hull of the personal watercraft. If folks want a small kayak? Then bonifide makes lots of smaller kayak options. Leave us kayak yachts alone! 🤣

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  Месяц назад +1

      It will be easy to add a live well with the scuppers in it with a simple drop in pan. Those are plans for the future. Everything is a balance and all the things you mentioned are great, but the boat would need to be much larger to accommodate them.
      Every watercraft can’t possibly meet the needs of every single person’s desires. But from the laundry list of things that you want in this watercraft, it really just means you want a different watercraft and that’s okay, it just means this one isn’t for you.
      There will be a rear casting deck in the future as well, but not everyone wants or needs that or wants to give up the space for their BlackPak or other gear management so it will be an accessory for those that want it.

    • @kevinperry9024

      I definitely want the rear raised deck. And I wanna encourage these classy looking kayak yacht makers to please press forth and give it to us. Don’t become discouraged by wording. I’m a bass fisherman and I want a rear raised deck with storage back there like they did in the front. I own a Hobie PA14 360. And it’s not everything I’d hoped it would be. But, im clearly good with a bigger longer boat. I trailer all 4x of my kayaks and I will trailer my next one just makes it easier for me getting in and out of triple digit heat temperatures in Mississippi. So please stick with expansion of larger personal watercraft’s. We want them. And a shade top lol

      @ChadHooverFishing  Месяц назад +2

      I’m not sure, but this isn’t the biggest or the heaviest being called a fishing kayak. The Hobie PA is a foot longer and 2” narrower. . It’s also the same weight when you actually weigh it instead of going off the weight on their website. The NuCanoe Unlimited is six inches shorter, but an inch wider. The Native Titan X is pretty much the same size and weight. The BlueSky Boat works is bigger all around. So, to answer your question, I don’t know. We are evolving as a sport and we are using fishing kayaks and not kayaks so I think the fishing kayak category and definition is evolving and we will just have to see how it settles out over time.

My point is, it seems as though the Kayak world keeps asking for and making kayaks that need to have all of the features of a boat. Bonafide actually said it’s modeled after a small bass boat. As far as getting places boats can’t, I bet there are plenty of places this new Bonafide can’t go, like small, shallow, skinny rivers. Or heavy grass lakes, or the middle of a lily pad field. So it seems to me the Kayak industry has be come more concerned about making kayaks to be like boats than kayaks.

      @ChadHooverFishing  Месяц назад

      Everyone knows how cheap plastic used to be. But the plastic is the lowest factor affecting price. Engineering, mold building, the amount of space it takes for the ovens, outfitting and storage, the trained personnel cost, insurance, taxes, etc are all factored into the cost. The cost of heat alone to build the kayak is equal to or more than the cost of plastics. Thanks for the comment though.

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  Месяц назад +1

      People who make this comment have kept me laughing for years, actually decades. It’s easy right? Then buy yourself a building, hire an engineer, purchase about $30,000 in design software and computers, then buy yourself a couple of ovens (they are only about $1,000,000 give or take a couple hundred thousand) then have them installed in your 30,000 to 100,000 sq ft building. Hire six to ten rotomolding workers and then order your first mold for $40,000 to $80,000.
      From there, build a couple of injection molds for parts like latches and handles, they are only about $10,000 to $30,000 each. Once you knock that out, get yourself a machine to thermoform hatches, lids, pans, etc. They are pretty cheap at another $25,000 to $50,000.
      Now all you have left is to hire a sales force to go get dealers onboard, market your kayak so that people walk into those dealers and want to buy it and then the last step is to pre-pay for all of the raw materials to build these boats, ship them to dealers and wait a few months to start getting any of your money back. While you are waiting on that money to come back, you can start spending more to build another mold to offer your second kayak, but by this point it’s easy because your initial $6,000,000 to $10,000,000 investment has already been done.
      Easy right? When should we expect your first kayak?

    • @michaelholt8590
