How to Disable download option on shared files in Google Drive

- Disable Download Settings in Google Drive
1. Locate the file in the Google Drive that you want to work with.
-Click the file once to highlight it in blue.
-Click the Share icon.
2. Click Advanced to open the sharing settings.
3. To limit the sharing settings so that only certain individuals can view only:
-Invite people to view the file by entering the names/email address of those you want to share the file with.
-Be sure to check the box to Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers.
Additional information
1.The disable to download option only apply for individual file. Not whole folder.
But you can open the folder, select all file. Then choose option to disable download.
2. If you set all the files in the folder only for view. Then, when you share the folder to anyone, It only can view only. People can't download the file that you set not allow to download. It still able to download the whole folder but without the specific file that you set no allow to download.

@@soulist8224 Hi, people still can download the whole folder. But the specific files that disabled for download, will not in the folder after folder downloaded. it will pop out warning as well that which files is not downloaded. No worry..XD

Great video! How can I change this setting in Bulk to multiple files at once? (100+)? Or set the default for uploading to "not download"? Thanks
Hi, Thanks. Yes, you can setting in bulk to multiple files at once. Just "Ctrl+A" or press "Ctrl" and " left click mouse" to choose files that you wanna set it "not download". Next Right click mouse-> choose share-> setting (top right)-> Untick "Viewers and commenters can see the option to download, print, and copy". Then done.
However, please do not include folder. Because folder do not have the setting to disable download option. The disable download option is not for "folder".
Only files type " (pdf, doc, videos, mp3, jpg. etc.)".
I think there is no default setting for uploading to "not download"

I try on my photo on google drive ,cant see the option you mention ? maybe the photo viewer dun have option prevent download ?
Hi, it only no have option prevent download for shared Folder.
For photo, video, and documents, there is option prevent download. Just follow the step starting 00:39. I just tried again (using browser), photo on google still have the option prevent download. If you using phone google drive app, there is no option prevent download.

Hi, to make copy option Disable, you may refer at 0:46. Actually the disable download, copy, and print option are together in the same checkbox setting.
However, this option only applicable for Viewer.

Please, how do I remove (details) and (download) from shared picture in Google drive android
If you are the owner/editor of the shared picture. Go to the picture, press the 3 dot icon>select manage access. Then remove people that you want to remove
There is no option to remove file/picture details(is a default record) in Google drive.

Hi, is not available in Google drive app in phone. The setting option so far only available in browser. You can login your Google drive using phone browser for the setting option.

If you change all the files in a folder so they can't be downloaded - If you send access to the folder, will all the files keep the settings so the viewer can't download the individual files in that folder ? This way I can send a link to a folder without having to send individual files. TY

When I disable download the video doesn't play. I only get a black screen.
Hi, disable download the video doesn't effect on playing the video. Please check your browser or wait the uploaded video finish process.
You may troubleshoot it by doing the same setting on another video.

I've been at it for hours, but it's not working.
The video is uploaded fine. I even tried it on other videos, newer and older. I tried it on different browsers and also in incognito for mode on all those browsers.
If download is enabled it works but if I disable download the player doesn't work.
