    Yes, he is human. This is the result of 200% engagement in a project. We have all the capacity to do it in any aspect of our lives, but since the amount of effort it to high in a sustained period of time, most of us quit.

    • @Arrica101
      @Arrica101 5 лет назад +2

      No we can't. Even if I did the exact same training routine and ate the same blah blah as Phelps I would never ever be as good. Genetically he is almost the perfect swimmer. 6ft 4 tall, Long body, short legs, very long arms, extremely flexible through the shoulders. You can't train those things. By the same token if he put the dedication he has to swimming into another sport aka gymnastics he would never have gone anywhere because his body is the wrong shape

    "Lochte's been known to get a little lazy there those last couple strokes" - If that is lazy I don't know the definition of a swim, joke commentator.

    • @connormoland6195
      @connormoland6195 5 лет назад +26

      but lochte totally does, it's more noticeable on his 400 IM and on his earlier backstroke races in his career, but you can see how he really extends and he takes one less stroke into the wall from the flags as phelps (lochte 4, phelps 5) which is evidenced only by his tempo slowing down. also, the "joke commentator" is rowdy gaines, who won 3 golds in 1980 and probably would have won at least 4 more in 1980 if not for the boycott of the moscow games. he knows more about swimming than almost anyone. watch the 200 free replay from this trials: lochte knows he's gonna get fourth, and his stroke slows down and gets longer, not a great finish at all. it's especially notable in the 400 im too. after litherland passes him, he literally just gives up, his last two strokes are almost a complete joke. lochte is more than known for having lazy finishes.

    why is there no 4x200 IM? That sounds like a way more interesting race than the 4x200m freestyle.

    • @coolvids841
      @coolvids841 5 лет назад

      Ward Huyskes You mean a 4x200 medley? Or a 4x200 where each leg swims an IM? The reason the relays are the way they are is because they have an individual event equivalent. The 4x200 Free is a four person 800 Freestyle, the 400 Medley is a four person 400 IM, etc., and as of right now there is no 800 IM.

    • @verward
      @verward 3 года назад

      @@coolvids841 the 400 Medley relay is nothing like the 400 IM, and the 800 free didn't exist at the Olympics until this upcoming olympics, so...
      I generally don't agree with your statement. The 800 free relay is much older than the 800 freestyle.
