🚴 Peloton Bike: amzn.to/3Rs1mSv
Peloton is synonymous with smart home fitness equipment, and we have to say-nobody does it quite like them.
From the OG Peloton Bike to the Peloton app-which allows you to do a variety of workouts like bootcamp, yoga, and even running, without a piece of Peloton equipment-the workout experience that the brand provides is top-notch. But, we wouldn’t be GGR without providing our honest opinion, and we don’t love everything about the bike itself.
In this video, GGR Editor and expert product tester Nicole Davis, along with GGR writer and expert product tester Caroline Lubinsky, review the good and the not so good when it comes to the Peloton Bike and the Peloton app.
And if you’re digging this video, we’ve got more Peloton and smart home gym content here:

Peloton is all about the community, and no other exercise company does it better. We have had our bike now for 18 months and it completely changed my life when it comes to fitness. It was the gateway into my garage gym equipment which I had nothing before Peloton. I also have gotten into running more with the running classes. Anyone who is not a self-motivator when it comes to exercising (which is 95% of the population), Peloton is perfect.
I bought one for my 40th birthday. I'm down 85# in one year. The app is great. I work on the road alot and the app keeps me on track. If I can't ride when I'm away I use the app and the classes to still bust my ass. Love Pelaton! It's changed my life.
DJ, I'm with you. I got one a year ago and I have 300 workouts (275 or so rides) in addition to my other exercising (weights, kickboxing, etc.). And I find certain instructors very motivating and there's no way I'd have 300+ workouts in a year without some great programming.
Purchased one for my wife, who loves it. It’s a nice change up when I don’t want to just get absolutely murdered in the garage by my Echo bike, and I’ve done a lot of cycling in my life and I like that feel. The instructors are great, and I feel like the bike itself is good hardware-wise. That said, I think the all access membership is a little pricey, I’ll continue to pay it because my wife rides it 4-5/times per week, but I wish it were a little cheaper in perpetuity, but I guess the same could be said about pretty much every membership out there nowadays.
I fell in love with Peloton and my first ride was Tuesday! Definitely gonna buy one
Only allowing 1 user to use the membership is ridiculous.
Most local bike shops will sell a range of cycling shoes and you can usually find something really good between $60-90 and you support local business!
As a non workout tech loving person who’s stuck at home 99 percent of the time as I have a young disabled child, it’s absolutely the perfect bike for me. Not only am I getting the exercise I need that I can’t get usually but I feel like I’m apart of a community rather than just riding alone. For someone who needs a ton of motivation to workout the tech is what draws me in and keeps me there.
The number of videos with Coop is declining. These videos are good, I just wish they were in addition to his 2 vids per week. I legit get excited for his videos. He is what brought me to GGR.
Coop is great, but sometimes you need people who look like they lift 😉
@@avinashtyagi2 🤣 ouch!
@@avinashtyagi2 lol. I agree. Glad that I am not the first one to say it, though.
I 1000% love my peloton. Wouldn’t have ever started doing cardio if I hadn’t bought it. I don’t use much else on the app besides stretching (and the occasional yoga) but I more than get my moneys worth for the amount of cycling classes I take (450 deep 🤘🏽🙌🏽).
I totally agree!
It has a great resistance adjustment knob which is very popular, especially people fond of 1985. Honestly, it's a mid to low tier bike with an ecosystem that people seem to like. The positive reviews really center on the screen and what is playing, it's hard to argue the bike is even average these days, no real power meter, no integration to anything other than Peloton, poor adjustability, no way to swap out bars, seat, etc, basically any of the features that competitive indoor cycles will have. People review the bike, but you are really buying the ecosystem.
Look the companies values and you'll see they truly hate you f berry ceo of peloton
Any other recommendations?
Just missing the knurled handles and I’m in !
🙃💪🏽
On the Bike+, the screen can be rotated up to 180 degrees which is great for doing non bike exercies. Major benefit!
I love my peloton, I ride a mountain bike and my peloton, the peloton app works on the outdoor cycling as well. I will say cycling has saved my life!
I am a barbell girl, but if I do cardio I'll walk or do jumping jacks. Nice video ladies thanks!
Just switched from a Schwinn IC4 and JRNY app to Peloton bike and all access, it is so so so much better, both the bike and the app is really amazing by comparison. I switched because JRNY suddenly removed my favourite instructors and all their class, I was so disappointed I immediately dumped them. During the summer months when I'm road cycling I'll down grade my membership to app and can still ride 3 classes a month via my smart TV, lots of options, really pleased with my choice
Ordered mine today: $800 off, with shoes, heartbeat band, light dumbells, heavy dumbells, workout matt, bike matt, Free Shipping, & Free Set up, all for $1100 !
If you don’t mind me asking, where did you purchase yours from?

Caroline is such a bro lol
Nice presentation, an excellent variation from Coop, makes a great team looking forward to future videos. i have a different brand of spin bike and I just use it with the Indoor Cycling videos on RUclips and travel all over Europe. No one yells at me, no extra charges, and I can pedal at the speed I want to and still get some exercise. Of course I am not looking to have a heavy duty ride, just working the legs and getting some exercise. I use the ride to finish my weights work out. Never know what we will learn about on this channel.
I have a Bike+ and love it, but I think the original Bike is plenty good for most people. Are you guys going to review that Force USA rack and Vulcan Prime flat bench in the background? Would be sick to see detailed videos on them.
I'm so glad Coop got to make an appearance for the outro.
Great review and very balanced.
i can't believe it's not coop
You can tell because these two actually look like they lift 😉😋
I immediately changed the pedals to marque duo to support the SPD and delta shoes my wife and I use with our road bikes. If you don't have shoes the Peloton ones are fine as that is what you would pay for an entry level shoe anyways. You aren't going to ride in sneakers and a caged pedal.
I like it. It seems very solid, everything works, the scenic rides are nice and I like the leaderboard even though I'm probably at the bottom of it.... I've had it for half a year and use it when I can't get outside on my fatbike.
I hate that my barbell has raised its subscription cost from $15 to $45/mo.
Hahahaha well done 👍
Hope this comment can be answered. I used to cycle on a regular basis approximately 25 years ago. I graduated from toe clips to Look pedals. I'm getting back into shape. I've already lost 61 pounds. I do not mind the cleat style pedals. However, my wife does not like them whatsoever. I was told i could purchase the toe clips from them for around $35. How hard is it to change them between her and I? Are they durable and easy to change out? Do the pedals or Allen screws ever get loose or stripped? I also have a Samsung phone and a Galaxy watch. Am I limited on the use of those functions? Thank you in advance.
Peloton, has a great concept, no wonder it's so popular. But my Bike didn't function from the get go. The screen indicated something was wrong with the device. After an on phone consultation and no resolution, Peloton scheduled a technician to visit. Unfortunately it was scheduled for one month away, which was disappointing. So, we opted to send it back and requested a full refund. Terrific review...thank you!
Just what I needed to know 👍
You probably should do a whole video about power zone as its probably the most compelling thing peloton offers to this community. And telling people to make poorletons takes away from that
Did anyone win the Gungnir dumbbells
I have a sunny spin bike but I have been thinking about getting a peloton.
I use the just ride and when I get done riding it would display all my data. But now it just shows all zeros is there anything I can do to fix this?
Girl in the orange was very forthcoming and clear!
I have used it for 2 plus years. No plans to stop
How do you get the shoes out of pedals? Are shoes are stuck and won't come out
I had a Peloton for 4.5yrs before selling it…it was great, but I find I would rather walk in my neighborhood with my dog, so I sold it…but what I came to comment on is that you do not need to buy the clip-in shoes like they make you believe…when I bought the bike, I had them throw in toe cages for an extra $45 so I could use my sneakers…they attach right to the pedals.
Has anyone tried to get just the app. Then the bike 2nd hand and log into the bike with your app credentials? I’ve done it before and it worked. It may not have been all access but it worked for me. Just a thought.
Would buy in a heartbeat if the sub cost was the same as the app
Full disclosure, Coop has stated in the past he is invested in Peloton. Which by the way has been taking a beating in the markets, so much for the future of smart home gym equipment.
You do realize that taking a beating in the markets, which is based on investor confidence and current events, does not correlate to being the future of smart home equipment, right? Tons of companies have “taken a beating in the markets” and recovered to dominate their respective markets.
@@jamesfrank670 Yes. However given the amount of value lost indicates the fundamentals are extremely weak. Many people were overly exuberant, now reality is setting in. Peloton may be acquired by another company, so the brand should survive, but as a standalone company it is too niche. They should offer software subscriptions that can be used with any bike so as to grow their customer base.
@@richards6431 no, that’s not what that means. Fundamentals of a company can be strong and still have low investor confidence for any number of reasons. They are not one in the same. Investors can sell off a company because there was a different president elected, or fear of a potential conflict, fear of economic problems. Any number of reasons can impact a company’s stock price that aren’t necessarily related to fundamentals. Can they be related? Yes they definitely can, but it doesn’t automatically mean that at all. That’s a broad assumption with no basis in reality. I do think Peloton made some changes expecting their pipelines to continue after the pandemic that were short sighted, but they have an extremely loyal customer subscription base and a good product overall in their classes and instructors. The bike may or may not stay state of the art, however. I would agree with open sourcing being a path I’d like to see them follow as well.
@@jamesfrank670 I agree with a lot of what you said. I still don’t think Peloton survives on its own. It will be interesting the next few years.
I rode my peloton 11 miles to no were. Yes!
I love my Keiser M3i spin cycle. I subscribe to Studio Sweat on Demand.
Good review
Monthly subscriptions for a bike, lol!
Will the monthly subscription go up after a GGR video? We shall see.
Concept2 bike and cheap iPad for the win!!
Where can I find a beat-up Peloton bike? March 16, 2023. USA.
I hope you can review and share your thoughts some day on the Wattbike bikes.
@TELEGRAM ME•👉@Garagegym_Review peee off scan reported to you tube!! Get a life.
For the amount of money that you'll pay for bike/apps/membership, is this machine more oriented to ala-carte, or more of a structured regimen fitness minded people?
The Star Trac indoor spin bikes and Kaiser Bikes are the REAL DEAL
Can you use the mobile app instead of hooking up the monitor and see all your metrics on your phone?
I hate the large screen and hope you can just use your phone?
I want a review of that gforce back there
I see so many of these on local classifieds, some for as little as $500.
Free
Have a cheaper sunny bike with wahoo cadence meter and peloton app.
Love the app. Cadence meter is a must to follow along. I'd like to know how resistance on this bike vs others stack up. One thing about not having the bike that you didn't mention in the review is that the instructors are constantly calling out cadence and resistance. Cadence is easy to follow along if you get the wahoo, but them telling me "35" resistance means nothing. You kinda have to gauge and do enough workouts to get the feel for how light or hard that is.
I still love mine!
I think it only makes sense to rent these $119 a month for the bike and all access plus you can upgrade when ever you want
I struggle to understand how programming not tailored to me provides any advantage over the random crap I do on a bike. As long as there is variety and heart rate is within desired ranges.... programming just feels so unimportant to me vs. strength training (unless programming motivates, or you build a program to mimic an actual bike course planned, etc.)
I think by programming maybe they meant more of how the software works? Because I'm with you it really isn't programming. You can find spin videos on youtube for free. They also didn't really go into it. I mean does either keep track of what you do? Is it fast or buggy? They seem to be more hit or miss on these things now in the reviews.
If programming is unimportant then you're not a good candidate for Peloton and that's fine - to each their own. I can tell you that I've had spin bikes before and they turned into coat hangers. My Peloton has 300+ workouts in 1 year, so I guess I find their their programming very motivating.
@@waltblackadar4690 Sweet. That is a lot of bike time. Do they update/add to the programs? I'm assuming they have easy to hard rides? So it isn't really "personal" programing but they can see what kind you like and suggest things to you like a Netflix?
@@scielth Yes. They have multiple live rides each day and those become on-demand rides after that. So the library is in the1000s of rides and you can filter for ride type, length, music, language, instructor and so forth. And they do see what you like to ride and make suggestions along those lines.
Of course, it's not just rides but walking, weights, yoga, and a few other areas. They also have programs, which are a bunch of workouts packaged together to further a goal like finding your functional threshold or working on your core.
For me, the appeal is in the instructors and the metrics. There are certain instructors I really find motivating and seeing my metrics - and being able to see where I've come from - is also quite motivating.
@@waltblackadar4690 Thanks for the detailed reply. I haven't really watched reviews for them but from what I have seen they kind of skip over all that. So thank you for taking the time to write all that down.
What’s the difference between an exercise bike besides the screen??
As long as a bike has magnetic resistance.. belt drive.. heavy flywheel.. adjustable seat and bars it's perfect.. rather it's 500$ or 5000$ . Everything else is subjective.
Concept 2 or Kaiser for the win.
I think they have disabled the camera and mic now due to some privacy issues.
How many generations does the peloton have?
Coop has been replaced 😂 well done ladies!
Well peloton is a girl thing so
They went from $20 a month to $45? Nah F that lol
Can find free spin bikes online everyday
You complain about investing 45 to better your health but will drop 100 on a weekend of drinking and eating trash food
@@davidaraujo57558I agree with this, however for $45 a month might as well just get a real gym membership where you can benefit your health a lot more with weights and everything else you could possibly need.
For the Peloton experts - Is it ok to store Peloton bike in a garage? Especially in disgustingly hot southern state? Or does that damage bike, electronics, or impact warranty?
You can put a 1200 dollar bike in a hot and dusty environment.
Keep mine in my non-climate controlled garage in NC for 1.5 years, no issues yet.
Concept 2 all day!!!
This is not coop!
It's not the same without Coop! Cmon coop!
I think it's better, now we finally have people who look like they lift 😉😋
Yup, should be a second channel. They did fine but this one is for Coop.
No indeed. Very easy on the eyes.
It's cheaper to buy a decent or even cheap spin bike and put a computer monitor or small tv in front of you. I use to play video games and go for a nice hour long bike ride. Easy cardio.
That’s not the value prop.
@@BasementBrandon I understand the app/program is the value of it. For poor people it just makes more sense to to buy a decent spin bike and use a screen and if you want classes there are plenty on youtube. Also if you want to compete against friends it's fairly easy to set up competitions using Garmin or something else. My only problem is the friends part.
@@patrickastumpf I get it for sure, it’s additional costs but to me the value is there comparatively speaking when you you combine everything it offers and how it works vs similar offerings. Let’s be honest if we wanted to save money we could just go run or bike outside 😅
I'm on the fence and love it but it's VERY pricy...
I like Caroline😁
Very good video, thank you. I still like my Peleton bike and have had it for 3 years now, even traded in for the latest bike. However, they have raised the monthly to $48/month now, so its getting up there. Also, for those that are not into woke culture, you may not like that aspect either. A lot of the instructors like to talk the woke-flavor of the moment, which can be annoying if you just want to work out, so steer clear if that bothers you. There are 2 or 3 bike instructors that never preach, so you can find them. Overall, I only have used the bike and the meditation portion and I will continue for now.
Is there workouts that focus on glutes?
I can focus on them glutes.
jkjkjkjl
Concept 2 bike for the win. I watch what I want & and don’t need pep telling me what to do lol
Built a home gym in part to get away from monthly memberships, can’t justify the price. I got the Bikerg and love it, but you obviously have to push yourself instead of using a trainer
I think there is some type of app you can download that will link up to your bike erg. Something with a Z in it. And I don’t know that there is a huge fee either. I saw it on RUclips.
Building a home gym doesnt really save money. It saves time or makes you more likely to use it. 1 Barbell is like 2 years at planet fitness. Plates for it is another 5 years lol
@@steezmuffin But if you ever decide to sell you will make almost all your money back. But I do see what you are saying.
I think the home gym is more a must for people who live in small towns or way out in the country because $10 a month memberships is never an option for us lol
@@meisdetermined Yah I think they are great i just dont think they really save money. Also i think selling stuff for what you bought it for is kind of a recent phenomenon and wont continue. Youd already lose a ton of money if you tried to sell plates and stuff you bought during the start of covid.
@@meisdetermined Zwift
It’s a cool product, but as a cyclist I hate that every time I put more than 800 watts in, it feels like it’s gonna break. I now have a zwift setup, which I prefer.
i never found this a good alternative for indoor cycling. way way too limited, i want to be free what app i use.
Did anyone win the Gungnir Dumbbells? Peloton has lost a LOT of money. They were overpriced during the pandemic and couldn’t hold market share once things started opening up.
Cause they were stupid and expected the demand to stay high. Poor planning.
I think they were just chasing funding and investment dollars. Anyone with an exercise bike and a smartphone or tablet has a competing product. I don't think they could have a real long term plan
@@Briaaanz I think they should’ve spent the money on marketing and finding ways to bring the cost down before the pandemic ended. Instead they ramped up production expecting to be able to sell all those bikes and pffffttt fell flat on their faces.
Better off using your regular bike on a trainer using zwift or the wahoo system.
I can’t get over how many times they use the word “super”
I don't like Peloton, but then again...I suffer when walking on treadmills/ellipticals (I own a treadmill...will only use if I can't walk outside). Stationary excercise options (such as peloton, treadmills, ellipticals) BORE the hell out of me.
Where is Coop?
As someone that works for Peloton, I have mixed emotions about this review. I'm not an over obsessed employee by any means but I think this doesn't truly represent the benefits
Cope
You are correct. They didn’t do a good review.
I love riding bikes. Especially XC, Road, jumping, and especially sustained hill climbing. However, for indoor exercise I think the Aerodyne Bike is much better than a regular indoor bike
eh, idk why youd want a fan bike if youre a real cyclist
@@steezmuffin I love the fan bike for when I can’t get out on my bike just because it’s different and really allows for a full body workout.
How did I miss this. Its like beavis and butthead became girls and got into fitness :D I LOVE IT!!!
It’s a low quality bike combined with programming and interactive experience. If you like spin classes at home- its a good one. Is it worth the money. For me- absolutely not. I am a Concept 2 guy all the way- way more bang for my buck.
My free bike does the same exact thing. Oh wait, it's from the 80s so it has already outlasted this overpriced junk!
No, it's not a low quality bike. Learn about the bike before you post. It may not be for you but don't create fake bullshit to support your opinion.
Hopefully you get compensated
Peloton is the Apple of spin bikes. Expensive cus they can, many drank the Kool aid and stay in that ecosystem and love it. Some hate it and have learned that there are plenty of budget friendly options that do many of the same things. Let's see how many people are still using Peloton bikes in 5 years or how many are clothes hangers...
My friend has one it's already a coat hanger. Peloton is only the app and monitor, the bike is a 300 dollar bike.
I agree it’s the apple as it may not have the best specs but UI and integration is the best, which is why people stay and will continue to do so until something better comes along (which it hasn’t IMO).
It's really not. The things that Peloton does very, very well are:
(1) They've hired great instructors. You're going to find someone to motivate you.
(2) The leaderboard is unparalleled. If you're competitive, that's really going to spur you on and it's not available on other platforms.
(3) Huge array of programs.
(4) Good metrics and a very clean interface.
It's not about being in the "ecosystem". It's about getting a great experience while you work out and there's not a "budget friendly" option that has anywhere near the options.
@@waltblackadar4690Sounds like it works for you, and I am honestly happy for you, BUT the market seems to be drying up for them and they were a pandemic darling. They expanded too quickly and because the lead time was so long to deliver their bikes and the market has already pivoted away from them. I think their best path forward would be to be acquired by a mega company like Amazon or Apple, or even better a high end fitness company like Equinox. We shall see...my point of it being like Apple is that you either love their ecosystem or you hate it, you like to pay a lot for their service or you don't, you like that premium experience or you are internally motivated to put the work in regardless of who is cheating you on. The next few months shall be interesting to their future...
Well, seems like your friend bought this bike with hopes of peloton really motivating her. Peloton only works if you’re already motivated. Also, if you were already an avid workout person then, the bike will definitely not be a coat hanger. I do not advise people who do not already workout to get the bike.
Please do not lable your 10 minute Peleton commercial as a "test"
My friend bought a peloton , I bought a 300 dollar magnetic bike from Amazon, guess who over paid? My bike is actually better, it only lacks the 800 dollar screen, but you can find a spin class on RUclips. Biggest rip off of the year, peloton!
Could have bought one off FB for less, so you overpaid too 😂
@@BasementBrandon I'll give you 300 dollars just to get out of the basement 😁🎱
Is i dont hear “this is COOP” then i just cant watch it
Didn’t watch the video, but the Keiser is a much better bike!
I grabbed a used M3 for $400 pre scam times. It's in my garage and makes a nice warm-up before squats and deadlifts. Gets the blood in the legs moving.
@@bmstylee That’s a steal! I have a used one as well! It’s a tank! I use Pelotons occasionally in hotel gyms when I travel, and they’re so flimsy by comparison.
Where's the sexy mustache man?
Coop is too lazy to do a video today
He is busy working on the other 4 pillars of the Chanel
AsSambly
GGR sounds like a motor bike
Hmm the exercise bike I found for free on Craigslist does the same exact thing the $2,500 peloton does? Oh wait the $2,500 bike doesn't even include the online classes? Oh another benefit of the free bike I got, there's tons of free classes online. So why spend $2,500 if it's available for free?
Unless you're training for a bike race ? Who the fuck wants to pedal a bike that doesn't go anywhere?
Tbh im not ewtching this channel because of the review, but for coop
100%. I skipped ahead a few times to see if it changed....it did not :(
Reminds of when Elliot hulse started fading from Strength camp and had others do the videos, the channel faded pretty fast. Coop is the charisma behind GGR, but i can understand what they are doing. Let's see how it plays out, i dont really mind either way
I'll take the Sunny 1805 and boxing on tv for $500 Alex.
Buy a used one then throw it awsy
I wouldn't take a piece of crap peloton bike if they paid me to take it I would take it and throw it in a junkyard😌👍🏻✨
