Merci. Bravo.
Enjoyed this transcription and performance very much. I've been learning the Gyorgy Sandor transcription, which puts much more emphasis on big octaves in both hands, but is not quite as inventive when it comes to inner voicings in the fast passagework.
Magnificent! This is one of my favourite pieces of classical music and this perfect transcription combined with absolutely amazing piano skills of Arthur Ancelle is a true gem. Ludmila Berlinskaia, congratulations! You did an amazing job! And Arthur Ancelle... it's not just listening to you play that is so satisfying, it's also watching it. No facial expressions, so focused and all the emotions going into the fingers creating something utterly perfect. Love it! Thank you!
Soon I will move to Paris... and this is the performer whose concert I would definitely like to visit! The transcription is top tier, with brilliance comparable to Glinka-Gryaznov’s “Valse-Fantasie” or Rimskiy-Korsakov-Chernov’s “Night on the Bald Mountain” or Brahms-Cziffra “Hungarian Dance No. 5”. It is a shame that no one wants to publish it, though. Maybe uploading it to the IMSLP could bring this transcription more recognition at the cost of zero revenue.
Arthur Ancelle, congratulations. You have an extraordinary piano technique. Also, your musical sensibility is absolutely awesome!!! It's a great transcription, very professionally written and played. Even de video recording is perfect!!! I loved it when the camera shows your hands reflected on the piano's surface. I hadn't seen such perfection for quite a while. All the best!!
to chiknnoodlsoop : well, yes, I know, I wrote the transcription myself. I wanted to get it published, but it didn't seem to interest the heirs of Dukas and their representative.
chiknnoodlsoop it depends where you intend to perform it actually. In some countries, this piece is not yet in the public domain. You can always contact me via Facebook or my website www.duoberlinskaiaancelle.com for the score.
More than excellent in every aspect! Wonderful piano too! Can't quite make out which make it is? Thanks for writing such an amazing transcription and then giving it a superb performance. I would love to have the score. Could never play it to your standard but would be fun to give it a shot.
I hope someday it gets published, it's a really nice job this you've done.
Encore merci !
There is a reason why pianists do their own transcription of the piece. If you ever tried to play Dukas own transcription you know why. It's the hardest transcription ever imaginable.
@@Quotenwagnerianeryes, Staub wrote a very heavy transcription which brakes the pace - and the drive - of the music. Garban also wrote one during that period, with some mistakes and lots of things that aren’t quite successful. That’s why nowadays many pianists have written their own transcription of the piece. I like mine better than others though, because it allows the pace to be kept, while emphasizing the important musical elements of the music in my opinion
@@QuotenwagnerianerYuja Wang delivers an impressive rendition of that transcription, I don’t think many people can do anything close - though I never checked if she played all the notes… Nevertheless, the music looses its direction in this version, and I think it’s a pity
You're so talented! This is a favorite piece of mine, and I thought the transcription was perfect! All that's needed is a little more emotion and dynamics variety in the video. I hope sheet music comes out soon!
Is there ANY miraculous chance of you recording this again with a pure overhead view so we can watch your hands the whole time? Would be super helpful in trying to learn this piece from the sheet music you provided!
Nevermind, he would probably never have time for us and be so devoted to his work that he would forget all about us and I would end up being resentful to him and his piano....and we'd end up getting divorce. Then I'd end up hating him and that beautiful sound that comes from that piano. dang our marriage has already failed..... dang
this is absolutely unbelievable. I could hear a whole orchestra
With the piano I see and hear more things than I could with a full orchestra. Every scale, individual note, tone, etc.
Magnificent performance. Captured all the nuances of this technically difficult piece. Bravo!
Gotta wear the blue hat and red robe. I need some brooms and buckets.
Formidable!

i love the last quarter of this piece so much, its so dramatic
Amazing your transcription for piano! It's not an easy piece indeed! It brings me back to my childhood with "Fantasia". :-)

Dukas didn’t write a transcription for solo piano of the Sorcerer’s apprentice.
@@idforart I thoght he did. Looked it up. It was Victor Staub.

Great respect to Dukas for composing such a complex piece :O
Amazing performance by the way ;)
Anyway this can be made available for purchase as an MP3?

The Garban transcription is more pianistic than the Staub, nonetheless, it contains several harmonic mistakes and some bars are missing...
You can also find tha staub version there.
Bravo! Bless your hard work and brilliance, WOW
