I had no idea he wrote this. I've seen him on SOA and he's not a bad actor, but his real talent is in writing. Fantastic movie, best I've seen in a while.
just watched Sicario for the first time. Loved it. Wanted to do a deeper dive about the movie and looked up "Taylor Sheridan" and my mind is completely blown. Very inspired.
Loved Sicario. The relationship, character arcs between Kate and Alejandro were written for Emily and Benicio... Love how he "broke all the rules" and used Shakespeare's 5 acts instead of traditional 3 act screenplay... Love his reference to Michael Mann, specifically the incredible 15 minute tension in "HEAT" that led to that incredible bank heist/gun fight in the streets. If you haven't watched him on JRE please do. Such a cool, down to earth guy. 👍
At the time of this interview we had no idea of all the great things this man had in store for us! Thank you Taylor! Honestly up until Yellowstone I only knew of him from his role on SOA. I had No idea that he wrote Sicario or Wind River! His scripts are just what the entertainment industry needs right now. The stories & characters he develops have intelligence & depth. What he’s been putting out definitely stands high up above the rest. He’s becoming one of those people who if I see his name attached I’m definitely going to check it out! Personally I can’t wait to see what else he comes up with. (I just hope they’re not going too hard & too fast with two Yellowstone spin-offs.) His work so far has been incredible & even though he’s been in the business for decades I think we’re only just beginning to see how far he can go!
I just saw a review of Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part Two," and the reviewer said it was the greatest blockbuster film he'd ever seen, essentially a perfectly shot film with excellent performances.
Wow, based on a Collider article entitled "‘Sicario’s Ending Was Originally Completely Different," it looks like Sheridan's original ending was very different from what ended up in the finished film.
i love the fact that some of the most important characters in this film have no backstory or no real arc. So tired of script coverage when people say you need this and you need that. Gone are the days!
To be honest when I read his script i was left feeling like it was amateur. Go back and read it while watching the film. They completely changed it for good reason. Everything from the name of the character to the sequence of events and cutting out the dialogue. His script starts out and continues to have really cheesy dialogue and exposition. FOr instance the close up of her face while she recounts the lords prayer .. the way that is written reads like a script i would have written in 12th grade. When you read his scripts now they have really grown in ability. I think he caught a huge break by having sicario optioned in the first place and if Villanueve hadn't have directed it i dont think we would even know who Taylor Sheridan is.
Considero varios detalles: 1.
It's SUCH a brilliant movie in its cynicism, contempt (for pretty much all sides in the issue outside of innocent Mexican victims) and honesty. And that's a great thing for a movie, but a bad thing for the real world.
This man is brilliant- one of the best screenwriter's of all time

Thank you for this interview. I just watched the film and this conversation added a lot of insight into the rather complex moral tale it tells.

HE blew it out the park

Excellent interview. Such a humble guy too.
He's currently one of the top writers in Hollywood. His films are instant classic. Hell or high water is my personal favorite of his.
Have you seen Wind River? It was incredible
Great interview, really insightful.

1883 spin off

Being "allergic to exposition" sounds like the opposite of Aaron Sorkin, in the best possible way. So much respect for Sheridan's work.
Another great film with very little dialogue is Wim Wenders's "Paris, Texas."

It was his first script. Give him a break.

What was the HBO series that Sheridan mentioned near the end of this interview that he was putting the finishing touches on?
Maybe he referred to ‘Yellowstone” and it finally went to SkyShowtime
❤❤

I thought the CIA wrote this film
They don't reveal any secrets.
