  • This Philadelphia school was closed down in 2013 due to major city budget cuts that ultimately closed 22 other schools through out the city. There is talk of turning this building into a community center however the last updates on that idea are from 2018.

I attended this school from my freshman to senior year & graduated in 2009. This school is what molded me into the person I am today, from the great experiences, teachings & peers I still am close friends with. It saddens me to see how a place that was so awesome to me in my teenage years now looks like a horror movie 😫. However, I have very high faith & hope that me & other peers of mines will come together & rebuild this up to its deserving place! 🙏🏾

It was an enjoyable weekend for me. First, Urban Exploring With Kappy posted a video on Saturday, then you and Derelict Doug posted on Sunday. Wow. It suddenly hit me that I overlooked those little square "fireplaces" down at floor level in some of the classrooms, which is surprising because I haven't seen them in other videos. I went to an elementary school built in the the "nineteen 'teens" that had them in every classroom and they always intrigued me at the time, since they had the same varnished hardwood flooring as the rest of the room. I didn't figure out later that they were ventilation shafts to pull stall air off the floors and pull down the warm air from above. The school was heated by three huge boilers in the basement via brown boxes in the classrooms with blowers in them to circulate the heat from the radiators inside. We had to go through a tunnel that went past the boilers to get to the lunch rooms in the Junior/Senior building across a courtyard area. Scared the daylights out of me when I was a little "Punkin" in First and Second grades! This was a very interesting exploration, _as usual._
