Mighty fine dogs you have here. They look good and they seem to be great dogs character wise. But there is something I’d like to add. Also, a pit bull, or pit bulldog, is really more of a bulldog than anything. Now there are some that may have terrier blood, but a pit bull is not just a heinz hound (mixed dog) with terrier blood. The term “pit bull” means different things to different people, but usually a pit bull is a dog, either mixed or full-blooded, that has certain characteristics of dogs classified as Bull breeds. Some are heinz hounds that have terrier blood in them. Some are full-blooded that are said to have terrier blood, such as the bull terriers, while other full-blooded dogs like the American pit bull (the original bulldog) and the American bulldog are rumored not have terrier blood.
If folks want to learn a bit more about bulldog types folks sometimes refer to as pit bulls, here is a mighty fine video interviewing a historian, author, and authority on the subject of pit bulls by the name of Richard F. Stratton as he gives some very interesting and informative details on the dogs. I hope folks find it as enjoyable and informative as I did: youtubeonrepeat.com/watch/?v=uwCkcnccXmw
I started watching your bigfoot bc your a riot but i keep watching because i live for my dogs and you teach me so much keep up the awsome work and the humor your one of a kind
I picked #2 . My son had a pit that color ( reddish brown ,red nose )that I took care of for two years. If I had seen a side view ,I think I would have picked #1 because of the sunken haunches . I love dogs like you do Peter ... I wish this was a perfect world and we didn't have to worry about all of our Animals being mistreated . Thank You For What You Do ! Connecticut. :o)~
Second one is a red lab. They were actually ignored when labs were first popular back in the early 1920s. Breeders would put them aside because all that was wanted was the black and yellow. I have a red lab mix and they are awesome beautiful dogs and very intelligent. Red labs now are considered rare and making a comback.
Louis Turvey be careful of breeders who tell you Fox Reds are rare, it is a yellow regardless. You don't need to search for "color" breeders you can find a lot of fox reds in America Field/Hunting kennels. Thackervilles Kennels had almost all red at one time, that's where my girls Sire came from. Remember, coat color is a bonus so look for a reputable breeder! I hope you have a blast with your pup :) Good luck!
Sorry for the late reply. I am in the UK and have seen some puppies and they are definitely fox red and are from a reputable breeder. The parents and grandparents have very good hip and elbow scores and the puppies seem healthy. I'll be getting one in mid august. Thanks for the reply and I look forward to getting my new puppy!
All three are beautiful Peter. Love that you kept Brewster.Hes adorable. I always choose to adopt the black dogs from the shelters because unfortunately they get put to sleep the most. Its very sad.
Yeah it's the same with black cats. Americans associate them with black majic and all that crap. In some countries such as Great Britain, it is believed that a black cat visiting your house brings good luck. Silly humans.
Have you ever considered getting a DNA test for your mixed pit? I have a dog that looks very similar who I adopted and hope to get her DNA tested for breed soon
I had a dog that was claimed by folks to be a chocolate Lab but it had white diamond shapes on the bottom of his paws aka not a Lab. He was a chocolate Lab pit mix, still a great dog. He was a fantastic companion.
I love how your working with a fox red! I never knew about the fox reds until mine, the history is amazing. The British loved the red, for the reason you said - great cameoflague! One of the founding dogs for the breed was a fox red! Pretty cool that your working with one, the hunt on them is usually amazing - people don't want to part with them because of that! That being said a good dog is a good dog no matter the coat color.
I think the title should be changed a bit. I think it should read "Which Dog Is not a Labrador? Labrador vs. Pit Bull type." Anyway, yes, it was pretty clear (at least to me) which dog was the Pit Bull type dog (a dog that is classified as a Bull breed dog because of certain physical characteristics and/or having a parent who is a Bull breed type dog such as an American Pit Bull). Not only did the dog's jaw structure (especially the masseter muscles) have a more powerful/pronounced build and the body type having a more lean/durable structure like that of an American Pit Bull but the dog has different coloring (white) on the chest and the paws. Bull breeds are rarely a solid color, while Labradors come in solid colors. I would say that this "Pit Bull" could be part Labrador as well. A fun fact though: Pit Bulls are actually said to be great hunting dogs (though a different type of h unter than a Labrador). Believe it or not, Bull breeds were traditionally created to be hunters of large animals such as boar, elk, deer, etc. and have been used for hunting smaller game, such as raccoons, as well. They are more of a catch dog than a retriever though. They are probably not the best for bird hunting to retrieve birds that have been shot because they usually go after other animals on sight and like to do the work of dispatching the animal themselves. For more information on Pit Bulls, a lovely video I found on RUclips is called "DIANE JESSUP WORKING AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER."
it's brewster, brewster's head patch of white on his chest and his really lean build says it all, and I remember Ike is pure from a show line of dogs. I had to pause it lol my wife got really into this video, awesome video. She swears its #2.
I have been watching for sometime now and have come to respect the work you do and the genuine live you have for dogs and have asked around but would like to hear from a person without their head up their ass about the subject but anyway how do you fill about the Irish Wolfhound as a family pet I have heard they are gentle giants and have had little interaction with them but fell in love on sight and yes i have had large breed dogs in the past was just curious and yes it would be a rescue there are a couple places within driving distance
Brewster looks almost exactly like my dog I got from a lady selling puppies outside a store. She tried to pass him off as a Lab - Shar Pei mix. Shar Pei! 😂. Wonderful dog though so who cares what he is!
I have a pit lab mix. The shelter advertised her as a terrier mix. Little did I know that the "terrier" was pit bull terrier. I found out she was 34% lab after doing a DNA test. Love her though she does have all of the worst qualities of a pit and a lab lol.
1 looks like a Borador. Lab border collie mix. He looks just like my Baxter 😁 Edit... Everyone else that sees my dog thinks its a pit bull or rottweiler!
I wonder what he means by "PIt Bull". I've always called my "American Pit Bull Terrier" a Pit Bull for short. She is not a mixed breed. They are as purebred as any other breed is. Or does he mean the group term based on looks that people use(many breeds included - American Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, American Bully, Bulldog breeds and occasionally Rottweilers)? You cannot trust the lineage of any street bred dog, but there is an actual established breed that has the name "Pit Bull" in it. :0)
Pit bull is the common name for a type of dog. Formal breeds often considered in North America to be of the pit bull type include the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Your dog looks like one of my dogs. He was a rescue and was labeled Lab/Pitt mix. Many people tell us he looks like he has rott in him. Our other dog is undoubtedly a Pitt mix though who also has pica. She used to poop rainbows. Yea, no frisbees or rope toys can be left with her unattended.
the 1st is not for sure , i know thats Eike one of your most praised high quality aquarius labrador you have , the second one as a rare colour for sure but it has the body type of a Labrador , so i go with the 3rd he has the body of a Pitbull it looks like
3 - I have one. So I know the traits. Also, the ears gave it away. Labradull / pitador have this every specific stare. They have this I’m an independent thinker leave me alone thinker.
I really enjoy your videos. I used to train horses and you are right...you don't want any animal toooo smart. You are so right on with your info. Thanks.
My dog looks just like #3. I was told he's boxer/lab mix, but I'm fairly certain he's probably got some pitbull in him. Did a DNA test just for fun. Came back 25% lab, 25% boxer, 12.5% GS, 37.5% "working breed"... Fairly certain the numbers don't mean anything, but he's likely mostly pitbull/boxer/lab.
I knew immediately as my dog Moses is identical in appearance. same body type, markings, etc. His mother was a blue nose Pit and his dad a Black Lab. I am currently looking into a board and train program for him as well at 2 years old. I wish I did it young but I was inexperienced with the breed and thought his behaviors were "puppy" behaviors he would outgrow. Wrong! lol And also I didn't realize dogs also have Pica. Moses has eaten a countless number of socks in his life but thankfully has passed them. And at 2 years old he will eat ANYTHING. We try our best to keep things we know he goes after away from him but it does happen. Seeing that dog so well behaved and hearing his story gives me hope. I will NEVER give up on my dog even though it can be very stressful at times dealing with challenging behaviors. Hoping this board and train will be successful as I know he is very smart and trainable just hard headed. Thanks for the video! :)
Really like the old fashioned black lab..Here in the UK we don't seem to see this stamp of lab anymore. All well behaved and calm , a joy to see, thank you 🙂
I Can just tell by the Color The black and white dog is The pit bull mix somebody I know had a dog just like it but the color was mostly white and some black spots I Have a yellow lab now but in total I have had 4 labs in my life time First one was Sadie a yellow lab after that i had 2 black labs Vader And Kicks now another yellow lab named gunner all 3 dogs in this video are BEAUTIFUL!!!
I've actually done a lot of research on dog breeds, pit bulls and other bully breeds more extensively. I could tell no. 3 was a pit based on his muzzle type and leaner build.
I guessed right with the bicoloured dog, labs are never bicolours as far as i know! I got confused a little though on the dog in the center though, i never seen a lab of this pale brown colour and her built is lighter compared to the labs i usually see. Once you showed them standing it was clearer which is which. All 3 looks great!
1st guy says... "I'm not fat I'm ENGLISH!"
I have a lab pit mix and I can tell by the white spot on the chest that he’s the mixed breed.
Exactly I have a pitbull and lab mix, and I approve that the first dog indeed is a labra bull.

I have never regretted pit or pit mixes. Sure they aren't for everyone, but I loved them all and would trust them with my life.
I started watching your bigfoot bc your a riot but i keep watching because i live for my dogs and you teach me so much keep up the awsome work and the humor your one of a kind
Easy one... I got a pitador...best dog I've had the pleasure of owning.
I picked #2 . My son had a pit that color ( reddish brown ,red nose )that I took care of for two years. If I had seen a side view ,I think I would have picked #1 because of the sunken haunches . Phillip Washburn what? No that's fox red

I knew right after the close up of #3
Wow that's great work
I'm glad I got it right, I would have said 3 because of the chest width and the jaw line.
I love how your working with a fox red! I never knew about the fox reds until mine, the history is amazing. The British loved the red, for the reason you said - great cameoflague! I did not know that. Bless you for rescuing dogs.
Lol I'm right! Only cuz I have one of these Labradors

This was one full sentence. No periods.
I knew it wa number 3 because my lab pit mix looks just like number 3
Middle one is different but contestant 3 chest gives it away.
Brewster looks almost exactly like my dog I got from a lady selling puppies outside a store. She tried to pass him off as a Lab - Shar Pei mix. Shar Pei! 😂. Wonderful dog though so who cares what he is!

3 is the shortest. I saw the smile in the pit.
2 is a pit 3 is a pitador
Ike is beautiful........................
Pitbull type dogs tend to have really sleek bodies until they reach to 80lbs some times even 70 but there really fast at running
3
Pausing to comment... I'm going to guess that #3 is the mix. However, it could also be a trick question and all of them are bully mixes...
1 looks like a Borador. Lab border collie mix. He looks just like my Baxter 😁
Edit... Everyone else that sees my dog thinks its a pit bull or rottweiler!
All beautiful dogs you have.. the one on the end looks like my Daisy girl.. except she's 75 lbs...
Not all mine

I wonder what he means by "PIt Bull". I've always called my "American Pit Bull Terrier" a Pit Bull for short. She is not a mixed breed. They are as purebred as any other breed is.

3 - I have one. So I know the traits. Also, the ears gave it away. Labradull / pitador have this every specific stare. They have this I’m an independent thinker leave me alone thinker.
just letting you know most shelter pits are not pits they're just mutts that resemble pits so that's what they called them
shut up stupid
I really enjoy your videos. I used to train horses and you are right...you don't want any animal toooo smart. You are so right on with your info. Thanks.
My dog looks like number 3. He was left in my garden at 2 month old covered in ticks. I wouldn’t trade my labrabull for any pure breed.
Thank you! I have a clone to Ike and always wondered if he was pure lab.
My dog looks just like #3. I was told he's boxer/lab mix, but I'm fairly certain he's probably got some pitbull in him. Did a DNA test just for fun. Didn't know Ike had such a high pedigree. No wonder we was so awesome. Miss seeing him, especially when he went hunting.
No one of them are labrador, small ears tin face
When a dog yawns. It means they do not want any trouble. This is a cute video.
I had a pit/lab mix. She was the best dog I ever had!
Wonderful dogs!
Wow, look at Ike, he is a beast.
