Nice job getting out of the way and letting the 5x champ talk. That's a level of respect she deserves, but doesn't always get. Way to set a good example Uli.
Underrated tip from Paige - many don’t realize how much the legs should be used in putting. Interest approach from Uli - I’ll have to give that a shot as I’ve struggled to find any consistency outside the circle.
Uli’s tip makes totally sense to me. I bet we all have been in situations, where there is a gap in a tree or bush half way to basket, and you know hitting the gap makes it to the basket aswell. It is obviously harder just with an imaginary gap, but still possible. This applies also in approaches.
You can use the same concept on holes as well. "I need to be here in the sky, at this angle, in order to land there with that angle" Tip from Blake Takkunen from the way back machine :) Particularly helpful for shots which require some shaping.
Most underrated disc golf series on RUclips! I recently complete lost my putt and went through this whole series and it helped me tremendously in getting my confidence back. @@playgroundofsound7683 According to the 2020 stats,in circle 1 she is 3rd best in FPO and her stats would put her tied for 12th in MPO. Circle 2::2nd FPO and 18th MPO.
Visualizing an aiming point half way is actually genius, I always try to make the extra distance with power instead of glide and very rarely do I release a smooth disc. Thanks for the tip Uli!
CONGRATULATIONS..on your 4th place finish. Was rooting for you. Love your mic'd up practicing and your commentary with big jerm is great. Your faithful follower.
Once again loved your advice. I've been following your practice advice and have been improving by a few strokes, playing smarter. Loved you had Paige. She's my favorite woman's golfer though I root for them all. Your faithful follower.
This is the coolest type of content for players to create. Good lessons. Quick and easy to share with friends. I’ve told dozens of people to watch or have shared clips with them. You don’t have to take hours to edit 30-50 minutes of content. Getting guests is awesome. Thank you, finish strong, then go rest and rehab for a couple months 👍 If you did start posting practice rounds I’d watch em all to hear you make fun with people
Thank y’all for the tips! Definitely have been working on getting my legs more involved when putting from further distances. Haven’t really thought about aiming at a different put to make the putt more manageable. Definitely will have to give it a try! Let’s see how it plays out
Won't know how much these will help until I get out to try but my circle 2 putting certainly cant get worse at this point. So I'll take all the tips and advice I can get. Thanks to you both!
"Gazelle" as a name of a disc has been used by Innova already, I had and lost a DX Gazelle a number of years ago, I doubt that would let Discraft make a disc of the same name.
I just watched you yesterday playing the Yadkin Open and your putt is just so smooth. You make it look so easy! It was a great experience for me! Thanks for all the great tips I’ll definitely keep using them to sharpen my skills!
Wow. I suspected that making more putts from 40+ required something like what Paul said, but I wasnt sure. Now i am for sure going to be trying to shape my putts like that. "Cutting my putts in half" makes sense! I never would have thought to put it in such simple terms. Great video! Thanks Paige for the excellent advice as well. I try to anchor my legs inside the circle so much that I often forget them when Im staring down a long putt.
One of the best tips I ever got for putting was to focus on a link, don't just aim at the chains in general. I learned from some Hall of Famers back in the last century. You just can't tell that from my game these days.
I found your channel with this video today, binged the whole thing and i am a fan! I really like your videos and the expert tips that go deeper than the usual 20 minute clinics. The content quality started great and the production quality got there pretty fast, too. The only thing, that i would love to see more of, is your personality (as in the Backyard Disc Golf video or the practice rounds with Big Jerm). But only if it does not take away from the professional content that is the "Down the Fairway" series.
I appreciate that. I’m a deferent person when it comes to teaching. I take it very seriously. Someday I want to be a coach. So I want my students to take me seriously. There’s a time and a place. I appreciate the kind words my friend.
I thought I was the only one that did that. I always just try to hit a spot in the sky and know that if I hit it, my disc will finish where I want it. Great tips, yo.
Golf putters do it, too. Don’t aim for the hole, aim for the leaf three feet in front of you. But in this case, the leaf is suspended in the sky. And, of course, it doesn’t exist. DG is harder than BG.
Your films give the necessary info and examples, however I😁 would enjoy seeing more shot examples with your talks maybe from different spots and filmed from different vantage points
I would love to hear PP talk about her switch. She assesses, loads up, centers, and there is this little flip of the wrist; like a flip of a switch, that seems to initiate her motion forward. It's interesting.
Paul Ulibarri...disc golf physics teacher. That's cutting in half technique is good to point out because I know I never thought of it that way...but what goes up must come down.
A 60-foot putt is what I like to call an easy par, or a guaranteed bogey if I run it. Haha I've been working on my half-bids... A little floaty anny putt that never goes in but has a slight chance.
I was missing all the putts I used to can and couldn't understand why?? It was exactly what Paige said...I was not using my body spring ...getting the weight shift from back to front ....Ty both of you
I wish I could get Paige's putters. I really need that -2 in stability to keep that straight putt online. But Discraft is sold out so maybe next Spring.
As to Paige's advice, here is a thorough discussion about the rear leg in putting, which I published recently: www.vorticasport.com/post/2019/06/14/the-importance-of-the-rear-leg-when-putting
I like both comments. However,I think I can relate to Paige's comment right away, whereas Uli's will take some thought and practice. For Paige's comment, I think it is very relevant for me because my mid to longer-range putts tend to fade out: either just before the basket, or (if I counter it by throwing too far right) just after the basket. Her comment tells me to give the disc more power so that I take away that fade altogether and make sure the disc gets to the basket BEFORE that part of the flight even takes place.
I guess I have always cut my long 80’+ putts in half and did not realize that is what it is called. I visualize the flight and aim in the air at that halfway spot to the basket and basically crank the power and speed to reach that spot in the air. Usually hits metal at least. Makes skins games a real match when you can make from downtown.
I think the biggest tip is that you can take a step putt outside of 30’ which gives you more of a lunge into your shot out of your hand . Paul’s tip is more of a mental game he plays with himself, not really a physical tip you can practice
Except that the brain is a physical part of the body, so mental tips are also physical tips by object inheritance (i.e., the transitive property). Plus, when you translate thought to action, it becomes manifest physically, so again, the tip is just the tip. So to speak.
I have a problem currently where I am putting too much anhyzer as I putt. I am looking for a way to fix this, but still having a lot of trouble can anyone give me tips to help with this. I am only a month into learning this sport.
Interesting, I’m going to try Paiges tip, but I usually will load my weight on the front leg and do a forward hop off it. Is that wrong? (Cause it feels so right)
I feel like Chris dickerson and niko locastro do something like you're describing, dunno if it's called a step put, but if it feels right than keep at it why not. The only metric is if it's going in the basket. (having fun also important..)
My best guess why she does it, is that helps her with her timing. Pretty much what every elite athlete does prior to doing a task, I.e. free throws in basketball, swing the the bat in baseball, the wind up before pitching a baseball, etc.
Okay, now I feel like a complete idiot. I noticed that Paige as a right handed thrower is using her LEFT foot to spring instead of right, like I have always done. Gotta try that! 👍
Next we should exchange some words. Some tournament settings are tough and I’m so focused I don’t see small social cues. I apologize for that. I’m a big advocate on being a nodder backer. Sorry I made you feel that way my friend. Hope to see you again.

Uli’s tip makes totally sense to me. I bet we all have been in situations, where there is a gap in a tree or bush half way to basket, and you know hitting the gap makes it to the basket aswell. It is obviously harder just with an imaginary gap, but still possible. This applies also in approaches.

This is great, but can the next episode be: How to miss less short putts?
He already showed that
The trick is to double the putt, so a 15-foot putt is like a 30-foot put with half as much power.
@@gark64 or a 60 foot putt with 1/4th the power

She empties all the negative thoughts out if the frontal cortex and then just *flips* them off with the disc. It’s elementary.
