@@villehytonen7279 Notice his pointer fingers outside knuckle is at 12o'clock on the disc at start then at release he "pops" his wrist straight at the basket and "stops." Dont lock it, pop and stop it lol
This is my putting guide along with countless scott stokely videos and i watch this before i go play all the time to keep the advise fresh in my mind for the round to come
This video really illuminated the light bulb above my head. Both the "Below the board, above the board" and "pop and stop" techniques are refreshingly simple yet surprisingly effective ways of explaining the intimate, finer points of his world champion putting style. Bravo Rick!
Rick has one of the best and most consistent putting styles on the tour. I have been trying to emulate his up-and-down motion. I love the boards visual. I will be trying this our on the practice green tonight.
Some people critique Ricky and cast a negative shadow about him because of the way “he talks fast” but I think if you really listen to him he has an endless amount of nuggets to share and his knowledge for the game is so vast
this might be the simplest best advice on putting I've heard. I definitely try to give it some spin but it is pretty unpredictable. will be going and practicing this method.
Thanks Ricky. Watching this video has helped me fix a number of my putting issues. Love the commentary and the slo-mo shots. So many putting videos don't show the slow motion examples which renders them useless (to me) in helping correct any of my issues.
Awesome to tips from one of the world's best putters, and cool to hear how he used to putt so differently! Interested to check out his new Tour Series Aviar. Thanks for posting!
Notice subtle movement of left torso: He pins it back. This helps prevent over-extension of right arm upon putter release and adds to "pop," i.e. a skeet/trap thrower.
Great advice with the wrist. As a LHBH thrower I always wanted to spin my puts and when I missed I ALWAYS went 15-30ft past the basket. Keeping the wrist locked and popped helped me tremendously. I'm by no means a great putter now, but I have improved a lot using this technique. I'd say it saved me on average 3 strokes a round because my 2nd putts didn't lead to 3rd putts. Thanks Ricky!
3:29 the peak push putt. I never noticed that his forearm & bicep rotate forward a bit before the upswing. Everything just looks much more efficient than whatever my putt is.
I’m a huge spin putter. I’ve done it for soo long! It’s hard to change. I hate loft putting because I can’t get the same speed and distance. I think I might need to force it after seeing this video and just try to get used to it and see how much my game improves. I hate missing just left or right and then end up 30 behind the basket. Lol.
I also got more successes in the last few years using the back leg push that Ricky Wysocki uses. However I used to not start the kick until 20 feet out and now it is about 5-6 feet from basket with a smaller one like Ricky does. Pop and stop is something I learned on my own, due to thinking how my original putt was when putting a push straddle putt and how I kept wrist straight so straight. I have a putt similar to Ricky Wysocki but using the non throwing hand as a no thumb on top track guide so the disc is not coming out with mega 45% or more hyzer due to my small hands. However my stance is a tad more closed then Ricky and I do point front foot at basket pole other back foot is whatever position angle from front foot needed to have a steady putt. I do start from Bellybutton due to my spin push.
Good video. It confirms what I have been thingking my self about putting. You should try to avoid thing that allows the release be diverted in sideways. But seing how Ricky does it is nice to observe. My own put does not have the strengt of his, so I will definitely not get disk so far with that kind os Style, but you definitely get the benefit of better release. The putter he use, will definitely not be good for me. My hand is so much smaller, that that aviar would be horrible for me. But in putter, the most important thing is to find one that feels good in your own hand! And then stick to it. I would hope that in videos like that, it would be said in loud, even if your Are advertinsing your own signature disk. For what kind of players this disk is food for. And that aviar is definitely good for player with relative big hand, like other deep rim putters!
The putter mold is nice, but the plastic itself isn't my favorite. Very stiff, feels like a childs toy more than a disc golf disc... good luck at worlds Ricky!
Dave's advice created one of the best players of all time. Brilliant.

Exactly. Usually when I miss it happens because because I twist my wrist. Need to keep it locked.

Really great to see Rick getting more and more comfortable in front of the camera, giving advice.

As a new player (7months) I’m happy to have videos like this from the best players in the world it really helps me develop my game faster
That little segment starting at 3:20 has helped my putting game more than any other (even the super long) putting technique videos, glad I found this.

Did he say he wasn't comfortable in front of the camera?

True, and you can still see him use that old school style putt if it's a tough headwind, since that is where the nose down putt struggles.
Ricky has proven results. Great stuff
Those putters are beautiful! Nice work Rick! 3 of those going in my bag soon.😉
Calm down. 2 of the exact disc should be fine lol

Now that’s game changing advice! Thanks Ricky!

Ricky “Pop and Stop” Wysocki
He seems like a genuinely nice kid.
This is so helpful. True master.
I'm exited to buy a new aviar soon
I got 4 of these socki bombs last year and they are truly limited. Trying to find one now is impossible.

Good luck at worlds Ricky, I'll be there to cheer you on
Do you practice putt counting numbers or a particular period of time on each type of putt? If so..how much/long?
Great question. Sure wish there was an answer for these questions.
Did they make a new mold for this Aviar? How did they change the bead placement and depth?
This is really good advice ty
Great video! I have been wondering about how much wrist to use while putting recently, and this answered it for me 😁👍
Great advice buddy! Also I love your destroyer disc!

Why do his tour series aviar have stamped, AVIAR DRIVER on the bottom?

Set the play back speed to .75x if you want to hear it at normal speed.
Thank you instantly helped my putting
Pop and stop. I like it! Will get next time.
Putting is extremely difficult for me. I’ve only been playing since June, but I’m always a stroke or two, sometimes three over, because of putting.
Man, these players flip on their sponsors faster than a -5 turn hyzer.
Such an underrated comment 😂
Keeps the $goin(new name on discs), alot of top rotated i think fall of 2018
If sponsors don't want them to leave then they should do a better job taking care of them.
still gotta get production lines of his putter pocket thing
