Jūrā gāju naudas gūti (I went to the sea seeking fortune) is a traditional Latvian song about people lost at sea as their ship wrecks in the storm. They go looking for money and fortune but "white is the money of the sea" like the frothy foam of the waves and at the end of the song it says the coins lay on a golden garden under the sea. It is a bitter sweet mysterious almost mermaid siren seafaring folk song featuring a ghost ship

The song also mentions Vēja Māte, the Mother Goddess of Wind, which the Baltic Goddess that causes winds and storms. Sailors would pray to her to have clear skies and gentle winds, and not gales and storms. In Baltic Latvian folklore there are many Mothers of Nature, each one representing an aspect of it (wind, darkness, fog, earth and so on)
