I grew up with android and my friends were hardcore apple users, They would always talk about how good jailbreaking was but there would always be that one kid who bricked his moms phone and got shouted at. Meanwhile I was just sitting there with my Samsung s5 and I was wondering why all the things I was doing on my phone that didn't require a root seemed so special to them.

5 years ago rooting was a must (or if you have a 5 yr old phone)...these days rooting is mostly for customization....
...developers, especially Android, are giving us a lot more control over turning apps on and off, clearing cache, etc.....overclocking is "overrated" (no pun intended)...quad core snapdragon 805 cpu's are plenty sufficient and there are tons of apps that bypass the few restrictions that remain today.

I recently made the switch to the SGS4 and I tell you, it's quite a bit different from ios. So glad I just ran across this channel, I pretty much insta-subscribed as soon as I noticed it was you. NICE! keep up the great work, man.

Rooting is not like jailbreaking an iphone. When you jailbreak an iphone it removes several restrictions-when you root an android device, it makes your o/s an open source system; thus, allows you to change the source code.

Tethering is most definetly traceable, that is the precise reason I was forced to unroot because Sprint sent me a letter threatening to terminate my service because they saw massive amounts of data usage, although having a plan with unlimited data they shouldn't be monitoring the data I'm using regardless, but I digress.

All you need to do is root and you got a free wifi hotspot or is it a root app you need?

but one feature that you never get through rooting,tri-band 4G LTE,only from Sprint with 3 times the data speeds of normal LTE

I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S Duos and even though it's a very old model, it works very well because I rooted it and I used to download apps all the time. I have more or less than 10 games and some other apps but it doesn't slow down. And one day my mom got this promo stuff and she said I'm getting the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 (yeah yeah, it's still an old model but I'm still happy 'bout it) I thought it would be faster than my old phone then turns out I can only download like, 5 apps. Lol. So I hope it will work like my old phone (or better) when I root it.

Jail breaking a iPhone doesn't void warranty if you restore if you don't take it in the apple store it does

I have a question. How much of a difference as far as battery life does it make when you over clock?

  • @dailywheelies12
    @dailywheelies12 10 лет назад

i just want to point out, that using setcpu/nofrills to make your device run full speed is not "overclocking". Overclocking is pushing the cpu PAST its limits.

The only reason I'm rooting my S5 is because many apps cannot use the SD card. The version of Android I have doesn't let all my apps write to the SD card, so I have to root it just to use my SD. That's just ridiculous.

Can rooting damage your phone? Because if I do it and it doesn't work then it'll void my warranty and I'll basically be out of a phone...😣

I have a HTC One M8 on a contract with EE that gives me a free upgrade every six months, but I have to give the phone back before I can get a new one. I would absolutely LOVE to Root my HTC but I don't want to screw up the warranty by illegally hacking my phone... I had an Iphone 3GS a long time ago, I Jailbroke it but when it fell out my pocket and broke I found out that, even though I was paying Insurance, because it was Jailbroken I had violated my contract... All i'm saying is, be careful if you decide to Root a new device...

You dont have to root your phone to sideload apps. All you have to do is tick the allow software from unknown sources.

*I followed your suggestions carefully on my treasured Marshmallow Android phone, and now I find I have an unwanted 'ScreenSaver' showing **_Carrots Rooting._** Looking at 'Settings' apparently if you tap 5 times on a 'Carrot' it will water it and grow a further ½" per day. How do I prevent these sprouting out of the USB port as they appear to be doing so right now ? Please reply ASAP as I only have a 5½" screen and these are showing incredible growth patterns. (PS I have stopped 'Watering')*

Great video...but if i had say that you needed any improvement...id have to say...details
such as, when you 2:31...you mention that it increases the battery life...but it could be extremely helpful if you could mention how much different it is from non rooted (e.g. "non rooted 14 hours....rooted 20 hours) besides from that GREAT video :)

used verizon s3 since s3 came out. There are tons of development of it and I really appreciate it. Asides from tons of Pros, one con with AOSP roms with s3 is it is probably never a stable rom :\ I tried out almost every aosp rom out there. I used to be a rom flash addict. The most stable rom are the stock roms sadly...

One bad thing about rooting- it voids any warranty you have on the phone, so if you brick it during the process, you're out 100's of dollars.

I was on the fence about rooting my huawei ascend H 866c until you told me I could download applications directly to my sd card that is my biggest problem with the phone is that even though I move applications to my sd card its still you used the very limited internal phone memory 140 mags versus the 2gb microSD card that comes with the phone . Meaning I'm very limited on what I can download to the phone at a time.
