Man, we used your club's jersey a few times during our first championship years as our colors were the same as Aston Villa. Our managers came to England and got their jerseys from Aston Willa.
I once bought some claret and blue worry beads in Istanbul back in 95, because my team is Burnley FC. I asked the street vendor, what are the colours about. He said Trabzon football club. So that is why I'm watching this right now. It seems Trabzonspor and Burnley have a lot in common. Working class, passionate, underdogs, punching way beyond their weight. In the rain in the fog. Lot in common. I was born in 61. Trabzon is my Turkish team. I wish you all the best.
@@CimbomFanFiction I believe it dates back to the famine, since the Ottomans sent aid to the Irish that tended to go through Drogheda. The clubs both share colors as well and Drogheda's badge has the crescent-and-star of the Ottoman flag.
I'm so excited for Trabzonspor. I'm American & my late brother was a massive Aston Villa fan. We would always cheer on Trabzonspor. Before he passed away we would play fifa, one playing with Aston Villa, one with Trabzonspor. I have to say I really felt a joy when they won the title
Interesting story, my condolences on your loss, it is really nice to see that our spirit echoes somewhere far away and resonates with joyful days of yours. As soon as I move to US when my time comes, I'd like to wear it on your homesoil proudly, making sure that my hustling underdog veins are still intact. I hope everything goes well in your life mate, I don't exactly know where this message came out but it doesn't matter anyways. Cheering BORDO MAVI to the matches you've played, good days sir.

Why are all these Mongols afraid to say that this city was Greek like so many others around the whole country. Trapezounda is the real name of the city that is still inhabited by thousands of Greeks ,the very few ones who still remain after the genocide that they did against their real ancestors. Your father's land is Greek.
A guy in my high school class was a big fan of this club and I didn’t understand the greatness of this club untill now. Akin Cabri, if you see this, I hope Trabzon wins more!
Cried for the last 10 mins of the episode, and 10 more after that.. If someone can’t understand that feeling and can’t get the message - just go play golf and never come back to Football! I’m from Bulgaria - West of Turkey. I have a good knowledge of Turkish football history, even from young age. Even when I went to Istanbul some years ago, still I couldn’t find a reason to support one from Fener, GS or Besiktas. By that time I was already aware of Trabzon decades long waiting for a title. So it was like so obvious I need to support them! And getting to know so much more from this brilliant movie (it’s a movie, yes, simply amazing), I’m sure I’ve made the right choice! And I can’t wait to visit that great city with such wonderful, bit though people! Last - in the summer I went on a vacation in Antalya. Travelled by car and when we stopped in the middle of Turkey, far away from Trabzon - the second car I saw was in claret with Sampion written all over it! What a story it is.. what a story..
From a SL Benfica fan. This is one of the best histories I've ever heard of in football. Amazing people, amazing passion, deserved win after all of this years waiting for a title. My late congratulations on the league title and I hope that you win it in the next years, as well! All of the best and I hope we meet in the Champions League this season!

@@ssj6boyIn the 2010-11 season, when Fenerbahçe became the champion by fixing against Trabzonspor, although the court found Fenerbahçe to be guilty, wasn't it the same Erdoğan who protected her and kept her in the league?
@@fatihsultanylmaz Yes and the dynamics of the relationships have changed. Also I wouldn’t call it much protection when the president of the club was jailed and only released once he pledged allegiance to Erdogan. Likewise Fenerbahce was found innocent in the most recent rulings for the same reason. Erdogan’ s statements over the recent years clearly showed that he wanted Trabzonspor to win the league.

As a young Sporting Portugal fan, I have never seen my club champion before the last season. I'm 17 years old, and sporting last title before last season it was 19 years ago. It was something huge for us young sporting fans, mostly because sporting is something that connects me to my beloved father, that died before watching sporting champion of Portugal with his son. It's not so hard as trabzonspor fans, but I can feel it a bit too. Since today, Trabzonspor will be my club in turkey. Thanks for this great doc.
I have seen my team(trabzonspor) at my age of 33. I hope you can see it in your early age boy! Because in your ages, these kind of things are more meaningfull than my age. I will follow sporting after than and will pray for them to be champ!

I remember in 1989, Jean-Marie Pfaff moved to Trabzon, he was one of the best keepers in the world. I remember the people with guns (in 80s and 90s it was normal to even see them around the games) who where the most friendly and passionate, the whole city is fanatic, people saw the players as some sort of Gods, I remember JM being at a surgery of a child, because the people thought he being there gave the boy an extra chance to life, amazing to see. I wish the people of trabzon many titles !
Wonderful video yet again. I`m from Greece and I have to say that Trabzonspor seems to have incredible fans. The two Greek players that are there (Bakasetas and Siopis) are treated very well by the fans. Respect to them!

As an englishman. Nothing but the greatest respects for them fans. They deserve it, how passionate and loyal and embracing they are. New favourite Turkish team
When i was studying at Trabzon, i had no money to buy tickets for matches. every match i waited on the back door of stadium hoping that someone will open the door and let me in. Listening the match from radio and listening supporters in stadium. Usually the door was opened on last 15 minutes of game. But it was worth it to wait there for it.
During the "Great Potato Famine" in Ireland 1845-1849 the Sultan of the Ottoman empire sent a large amount of aid to Ireland ( he wanted to send more but he was told not to because then he would be sending more than Queen Victoria and this would be considered a snub and their might have been repercussions for the ottomans) the aid arrived in the town of Drogheda. Centuries later this unlikely friendship between the town of Drogheda and the nation of Turkey is still alive. Particularly in football when Drogheda United needed a bailout they received it from Turkish businessmen, they are sponsored by Turkish Airlines and they by chance have the same colours as trabzon and when the internet became popular Drogheda fans and Trabzon fans put this story together and pushed the clubs to become sister clubs Drogheda sells a considerable number of jerseys in turkey every year🇮🇪🇹🇷🇮🇪🇹🇷🇮🇪🇹🇷🇮🇪🇹🇷🇮🇪

Internacional fans from Brazil will relate to this, we’re waiting for more than 35 years to win the league again, got robbed twice and had to watch our rivals gave a win in the last round in 2009 only for us to lose by a point. But I’m sure our days will come just like it did for Trabzon
I'm a colorado/Internacional fan and that's the first thing that came in my mind after seeing this doc. Too many similarities: most of our national trophies are from the 70's, we got the same feeling of injustice against us coming from the "axis clubs", the fanbase is angry and passionate and the club is based in a relatively cloudy and daring city. Well, I hope this is a sign for joys to come. Keep doing great, Trabzon, e VAMO INTER!
When Internacional wins a national championship again Eli has to come here. It's almost the history of Trabzonspor but with all the international competitions in the middle. I'm a fan of São Paulo. We took one national championship from you, but I would trade it with no regreats for one of the two Libertadores Cups tha Inter took from us in 2006 and 2010

It's the stories like Nottingham Forest's return after 30 years, Trabzon's Turkish Double (Ziraat Cup and Süper Lig), the impossible done by Milwaukee Bucks that give sports life and soul.
Can confirm there is a Trabzonspor fan everywhere, saw some of them here in Paraguay (!) in a league game involving Oscar Cardozo (former player of the club) and that also speaks well about the fans treatment to their players, coming to the other side of the world to greet a former player. Really impressed about the city's passion and for sure I'm going to follow their steps from now.

If anything, FB lost way too many titles, very close ones...this is all insane emotional BS, sorry but nobody nobody should feel sad as to depress himself. We kept waiting for our turn but years gone by. But we always felt special. We never ever stoped loving our club. It meant more to us. Not just trophies or titles. That is why we deserved this so much. Being the only kid amongs these others. To see all the injustice happening. We felt betrayed but that made our bonds to the team even stronger. After seeing this documentation about Trabzonspor I really can understand. Because, in a sense, I can exectly feel what these people do and did. I am a supporter of Schalke 04, German Club. the passion, the stolen history, the city not only crazy for the team but live it, its our life, the area we where born, poor city, coal mining made us. We've won the championship last in 1958, got "robbed" of it in 2001 - we where champions for 4 Minutes, because everybody thougt all other games where already over but in this Game in the overtime Bayern Munich scored last second and took our championship. But what got me teared eyed is more recent, just this season. The end of this video. since then Schalke 04 had its up and downs and lately more downs then ever, we relegated to the second Leauge last season after 30 years, everybody thought it could not go up from here since there was so much bullshit involved. Some scandals, completely new team, new executive, many debts. but then second last game could decide it all, if we won against St. Pauli we would be promoted to first leauge again. It was such a intense game and in the end we won 3-2. It was insane, and the exacty same thing happened, we cut the net of the goal, ripped out grass of the pitch, huge pitch invasion, crying in strangers arms, praying in the ground with a scarf or flag infront and all that stuff. It was unreal. So this video really reminded me of our own club. and I loved it, got me a lil Trabzonspor fan myself.
As a club with a great history, it made me sad that you were relegated to the lower league. It's great that you're back in the Bundesliga. In the coming years, I hope you will erase Bayern from history and become the champion.
If Schalke were run properly by competent businessmen then the club would've stabilized itself as a top team like Dortmund have become in the last decade as Schalke have a brilliant academy and fan base but wasted its potential by incompetence off the pitch. I hope this wonderful club (along with Hamburg SV) rise to become a competitive force at least, even if they don't win the Bundesliga.
I've been to Turkiye twice in 2022 (never visited previously), and Trabzon is now on my list for a future visit. The passion and attitude, mixed with the eerie fog and un-Turkish weather is a very unique vibe. Hopefully I can catch a game while I'm there too!
If you come here, don't forget this message. When you come here, give me transportation and we will help you to tour the city and arrange tickets if you come across a match.
I assume that you have been at the Tourist areas but Central/Eastern Anatolia and the Black Sea coast are not like the Aegean or Mediterranean Region. You should check out Trabzon, Rize and Artvin in the winter time. Extremely beautiful.

I've always respected Trabzonspor. I got to know them thanks to the 11/12 champions league. They played with more courage than I even saw Galatasaray play. It's clubs like this that deserve a soft spot, Trabzonspor, Leeds, Betis, Levante, Roma, Genoa, OM, AFC Wimbledon. Even popular teams that dominate can have soul, like Flamengo, Corinthians, and so on

Eli I want to thank you for taking me to new places and events filled with such passion, devotion and an unbridled hunger for success. Congrats to Trabzon, however this is more about the true meaning of David and Goliath and any underdog. It's not about the size of the dog in the fight, it's about the size of fight in the dog. Just love it.
I've been for the last 10 years in the terraces , supporting my club but this story , man , it's absolutely beautiful... It's beyond explaining what it can all be... The people of Trabzon are blessed to be united at all times... 🤯

Aston gave the jersey a gift. and then trabzonspor's colors became burgundy and blue. true.
Man, we used your club's jersey a few times during our first championship years as our colors were the same as Aston Villa. Our managers came to England and got their jerseys from Aston Willa.
Love bro. I myself being born and raised in North London, was always a proud Trabzonspor supporter
Same with Drogheda United in Ireland 🇮🇪 claret and blue army!💜💙
I once bought some claret and blue worry beads in Istanbul back in 95, because my team is Burnley FC. I asked the street vendor, what are the colours about. He said Trabzon football club. So that is why I'm watching this right now. It seems Trabzonspor and Burnley have a lot in common. Working class, passionate, underdogs, punching way beyond their weight. In the rain in the fog. Lot in common. I was born in 61. Trabzon is my Turkish team. I wish you all the best.

Also I wouldn’t call it much protection when the president of the club was jailed and only released once he pledged allegiance to Erdogan.

They say "it's the hope that kills you"... But it's stories like Trabzon and the Bucks that give us life 😂
Wow hello to you from a Heat fan from Turkey
It's the stories like Nottingham Forest's return after 30 years, Trabzon's Turkish Double (Ziraat Cup and Süper Lig), the impossible done by Milwaukee Bucks that give sports life and soul.
Can confirm there is a Trabzonspor fan everywhere, saw some of them here in Paraguay (!) in a league game involving Oscar Cardozo (former player of the club) and that also speaks well about the fans treatment to their players, coming to the other side of the world to greet a former player.
Really impressed about the city's passion and for sure I'm going to follow their steps from now.

Cardozo is a legend! And Trabzonsport philosophy is amazing. In terms of treating the players, unfortunately I have other information. It's famously known that the Club sometimes refused to pay there Players such as Mark Janko. That's bad reputation for an amazing Club.

What a fantastic doc. No affinity to a Turkish club, only really familiar with the Istanbul clubs prior to this; from now on I’ll be following Trabzonspor from afar. What a club, what a fan base, proper class 👏 from a Tokyo based north London Gooner 🇯🇵🏴
in 8.50 u see a Trabzonspor fan man with Aston Villa shirt (Nevzat Aydın).Actually this has got a story too. When we played with them in 1994 and eliminated them in UEFA cup,Villa fans really liked us and started to follow our matches. I'm not from Trabzon, I'm from Giresun the neighbor city of Trabzon and I live in İstanbul and I was born in İstanbul however I didn't choose any of the İstanbul teams to support, I chose Trabzonspor because my father who is also a Trabzonspor fan told me about how Trabzonspor gained its championships, how it rebelled to İstanbul hegamonia. I grew up in İstanbul and when I was a little kid my schoolmates were all İstanbul teams fans, they had the best players, and they got the trophies but I never leaved Trabzonspor even if I was a little child who just want to see victories, trophies and celebrations. I just waited until now, until I became 25 and I will never give up. Trabzonspor is a symbol of standing up for me even if I'm alone, following the right path even if nobody is with me.

In the doubtful year (2010-2011) a Trabzonspor supporter watched the Eskişehir-Trabzonspor match, one of the suspicious matches, came home and had a heart attack after saying to his wife, "They will not allow us to be champions again". After losing the championship at the last minute in 1996, a Trabzonspor fan hanged himself and left a note saying, "No one is responsible for my death. If I come to the world again, I will be a trabzonspor fan again". That's why there is a saying: "Trabzonspor is the life of those who gave it their life"

Over a fucking ball and sport called futbol? You guys are out of your minds glorifying those victims who didn't know any better and committed suicide or had heart attacks. Nothing to glorify, you should promote the reality of the fact that even thought a title might not come for decades, it's a god damn ball, sport. No person should ever get depressed about the results, let alone kill himself over a title. TS is one of the 4 biggest club, the reality, it's baseless to claim as if you are underdogs and your deserved titles are stolen. If anything, FB lost way too many titles, very close ones...this is all insane emotional BS, sorry but nobody nobody should feel sad as to depress himself. As a FB fan, i saw our 2006 title in denizli stolen by GS, we lost another title at home to Bursa at the hands of last match against Trabzonspor. We lost many others in past 25 years where we were heavy favorites. You guys are biased and making it look as if TS means justice which is all hype and BS

WE ARE TRABZONSPOR!
WE ARE CHAMPIONS!
So this video really reminded me of our own club. and I loved it, got me a lil Trabzonspor fan myself.
thank you very much. If you happen to be in Turkey, we would be happy to host you.
You've gotta go through pain as a football fan to enjoy the best times! Beats being a bayern Munich fan for sure!
