- Greetings everyone, today's review episode will be about the FJ-4B Fury in 1/48 scale from Hobby Boss. I'm a huge fan of early jets and this one looks to be a decent kit.

Nice
I'm in the process of finishing this kit up right now. The Detail and Scale reference book has good information on the issues with this kit. The decals suffer from incorrect text on the jet warnings (front and rear). Assembly was good, and surface detail is okay, although incorrect in some places. One big problem is the nose landing gear strut. It's molded in the collapsed version rather than the more normal extended version you would see on a ship. The cockpit is so so, but the Aires cockpit doesn't fit without a lot of effort. I ended up using some Aires parts, some kit parts, and added some scratch building.
If you do use the Bullpup missiles, to be correct you would need to make a guidance pod as it is not included in the kit. Overall, better kit to build a Fury than the older Grand Phoenix and other kits, but still will require some work.
Thank you for the detailed break down of trouble areas, unfortunately that's a common occurrence with Aries resin, they need a fair amount of work to get to fit right.
nice review, i really like your content. keep up the good work 👍
Thanks, will do!
Looks like it would be a fun build!! Love your reviews by the way.
Thank you!
Very nice jet FJ-4B Fury love jets.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Brett. Thats a nice looking kit. Good detail and plenty of weapons to make it interesting. The decals look nice and bright , typical of the period. Nothing like the dulled down versions like they use today. Good review bud and a good video.
yeah, looking forward to getting this one on the bench.
FYI, you can't use 6 Bullpups like the kit shows, there should be 5 plus a guidance pod which shouldn't be too difficult to scratch build.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing.
Intresting 😃
I think so!
Nice review, Brett! I recently acquired this kit through a model auction on Facebook. It looks interesting. May see if Eduard has a Zoom set for the cockpit.
Yeah, it will certainly need an upgrade in the cockpit!
@@HammerheadModelMaking I checked Ebay and Aires makes a resin cockpit set with photo etch. I tend to build OTB though.
Looks great, do you think you’ll be reviewing the new tooled 1:48 Leopard 2A7 from Tamiya?
I can certainly see if I can get a hold of that kit!
I made this kit last year, fit is really good, decals are bad, would recommend trying to paint them or something for the bigger decals
Good to know, maybe I'll consider painting the markings then.
💀👍🏻
It’s great until you need to use the decals. They disintegrate from personal experience. Had to buy a Red Devils set for 20 usd.
You're the second person to say as much, thanks for the warning!
While a nice " looking" kit manufacturers are getting lazy charging supreme high prices. Lazy because their not trying to fix that texturing problem of the plastic which in the end ruins the build out. Based on this review its another kit I can cross off my interest.
Yeah, thats the trouble with inbox reviews in general, they may "look" nice, but that doesn't address any fit or accuracy issues. But, if you've crossed the kit off your list, then the video has done its job, informed you. Cheers!
@@HammerheadModelMaking exactly, I won't buy a kit without seeing a kit review plus it helps balance my model budget. I haven't bought Hobby Boss for a long time, that's why I subscribe to your channel, your reviews are spot on, Thanks.
@@c123bthunderpig Cheers mate, appreciate you watching!
Looked like a Mike Machat video for a second.
The music made this unwatchable.
thats unfortunate 20 seconds of music turns you off that bad, I think the rest of the content is worthwhile.
@@HammerheadModelMaking I still watched it Dude.
