@@SlackArti I think the reason why is it’s because the counter simply makes it soras projectile and add a multiplier to it while it stays on the same path it would if not reflected, the reason it reflects lucarios like that is because the hitbox for the “projectile” must overlap with Lucario’s hurtbox, causing him to be hit

@@KoEnder flare blade isnt like KO punch, which is coded so it hits through counters and shields, meaning that yes, every counter in the game (except sephiroth's, because that one is weird).

Basically, it follows the coding of: If it is considered a hit, then it stuns the opponent and hits back. If is a projectile, then it deflects the attack and it doesn't stun anyone.
Which is funny because Charizard's Side B is considered a projectile to Sora's counter (Source: Messing about as Sora against an A.I Lv. 9 PKMN Trainer, hit the counter, and it didn't stagger him and just, immediately countered it and K.O'd it in the direction it was heading)

Reflect-counters, like Palutena, which work the same way as regular counters with physical hits, but with projectiles they reflect them back to the opponent. Sora has a reflect-counter, but it's a little different. The reflecter is slightly worse, as instead of sending it back, Sora just changes the hitbox to belong to him, while keeping the old trajectory. So, projectiles effectively pass through him. But the counter is slightly buffed, as it stuns opponents before striking. This normally doesn't do much, but there are specific cases where Sora's works when a regular counter wouldn't. For example, Banjo's Side B "Wonderwing" normally makes him invincible, so if Marth countered it, he would strike Banjo and deal no damage. But if Sora counters, Banjo is knocked out of his Wonderwing animation, so Sora deals damage and knockback.
Fun fact, yesterday I had to recover as Peach, and with my float I avoided the counter as much as I could, but when he actually got it, Peach just got stunned, but Sora missed the hit
@@diegovaldez927 they have huge grab magnets so they can just up b far away. Still makes a super annoying 50/50 where sora can counter or try hit them normally depending on what they choose. Ideally with shotos I think you wanna airdodge because they have really far airdodge for some reason

Have you seen the kind of damage Sora does when he counters explosion based physical moves? Since Sora’s counter is also a reflector the opponent gets hit by both. - Charizard using Flare Blitz right under the ledge of a countering Sora - Diddy Kong crashing his jet pack right next to a countering Sora - Incineroar cross chopping right next to a countering Sora
the lucario one is sort of weird too, because technically the side b is considered as a projectile. Anyone with a reflect can reflect it, but i haven't studied it closer than that. I wonder if the way sora reflects makes the highest damage part of the side b hit lucario since it doesnt turn around like other reflects.
Sora trying to counter Ike’s up B is basically what happens in Kingdom Hearts when you block an attack from a foe that won’t stagger them when you block it and then you counter too soon while their attack is still going on.
Countering Charizard's Flare Blitz normally will just interrupt the move and deal like 20%, but if you counter the explosion specifically (like if Charizard hits something and you get caught in the blast) he'll take like 70% from it. I think it's because it's both reflecting the explosion and countering the damage from it.
I'm surprised that a lot of people don't understand that certain moves like Hero Kamikaze and Ryu/Ken Focus Attack work like grabs and little nuances like that.

I believe if it's far away, it can be countered, but if he gets within grabbing range, then counter does nothing to stop it
